ICTC 4: The Bog
Ok, here's my town (or rip-off as I'm sure it's going to be said  )
Let me present...... The Bog
The Bog
Also known as: The Plaguebringers
Associated colors: Green and brown
Worship: The Lord of Pestilence, an otherworldly being that they believe spread the plagues in the land
Motto: “Life is eternal, but only through the decay of others”
Kingdom: Don't got a kingdom is a whole, instead, these cults are spread throughout the country, mostly having their base of operations in swamps
Capital: None
Key Symbols: The Broken Bottle, The Corroded Sword
Description:
“The Bog” is the common name for the strange cults that pop up now and then all over Ashan. These cults can take several different forms. However, all cults have two things in common. One thing is that they all worship sickness in all shapes, all cults got humans as speakers, spreading the word all over the land. Mostly however darker secrets lurk in the swamp. Dark, misshapen creatures join the ranks of men, both seemingly normal and diseased ones. Fel things swoop the sky, spreading terrors in the enemy ranks. And there is other things too.....
Religion:
They worship the Lord of Pestilence, where the greatest act of faith you can do is spread his word, aka his diseases. Some individuals have such knowledge in the study of disease, and faith in the Lord, that they infect themselves with countless of sicknesses and still survive. What more, these diseases spread.
Religion is also important when choosing the leaders for the cult. Only humans can be chosen, as the Lord other creations is mindless plaugespreaders. The choosing is simple. First it have to be atleast five ”volunteers”. If this number isn't reached the ceremony is canceled for three days, this can go over and over again until they find the five. When they find them, it can begin. All of the five gets infected by a deadly disease, the rules are simple, he who survives, becomes a “Plaguebringer”. It is always one, or none, that survives.
History: No one know exactly when the first “cult” appeared or when the worshiping of the Lord of Pestilence started. This is a rough timeline of the history of the Bog:
150 ysd: Somewhere between the vanishing of the Dragon Knights and the first eclipse, the first reports of an unknown cult begin to appear. It seems that normal persons descend into the praising of disease, mostly those who is or has an family member that is deadly sick. The Empire got greater things to do than remove an seemingly harmless cult.
200 ysd: The empire is shaken by a merciless plague. It kills a large part of the peasants and a few officials too. After the disease had dispatched, a major investigation started to see where all had started. It seemed as the first village that had been infected was one that had drove the Cult away. Efforts to find the Cult failed, it had retreated into the swamps and marshes.
465 ysd: With the art of Necromancy revealed, a few adepts and teachers of the art disappear mysteriously, no one can find them.
480 ysd: Strange things move in the swamps all over Ashan. Seemingly, the cult have prospered during these yeasrs and with the aid of necromancy, no one knows what still to come.
530 ysd: The first real war between the Griffin Empire and the Cult. After seven large towns had been infected by a disease and with nearly no survivors, the Empire must act. They traced the progress of the plague and was ready for them next time. The battle was short and brutal, with the army of the Empire outnumbering the Cult 10 to 1, it was over shortly. But it wasn't as easy as you could think. Strange creatures attack the Empire's ranks, maddened men fought fiercely and strange magicians spread waves of acidic slime over the humans. But the Empire had enough men for the task..
The toll was heavy however. As each wound became infected, causing countless men to die in agony, when the army returned, they had no wounded, only unscratched or dead.
A few survivors from the cult scattered from the battlefield, leaving it alone or in pairs. This would be the start of a new Cult, a shattered one, but a powerful Cult nevertheless.
This was also the last time in more than 400 years that the cult would be seen.
980 ysd: After the 6th eclipse, the cult have appeared again, now they will spread the Lords word..........

Hordes of Nurgle, eh?  Has potential. Could be fun.  But you'll need to be as original as you can with this one, since Warhammer already did a great job on this subject and it'll be a tough job to surpass it.
