Lol grim on that site there is a H3 section too.A mapmaker's corner too, even hosting a contest.IMHO it's a very nice site, well organized. It also has a page with tips and many more features. You can also upload your maps there, maybe you should give that a second chance

So I’ve been thinking about another map, I get hooked on these types of things now and then:  doom, doom2, quake, gta2, unreal, homm3 anything with a level/map editor usually gets me hooked pretty quickly.  Anyhow I figure I’ve got an excellent concept for my next map, it is as follows:

7 player spots on one not so large island in the middle of an XL map, 2 of them shall be allied and be given larger supplies then the rest. 1 shall start in between the allied players. 2 shall be placed close to the allied 2 and the last 2 shall be place close to each other further away from most of the action.  Of course the last player shall have perhaps 4 castles on different islands around this main island and will start FAR more powerful then all the others.  The hooks are each area on this small island shall be very distinct (using each of the different terrain style) and each of the player spots shall be computer/human spots to allow for an extremely easy game or an incredibly difficult game.  Each spot shall have a well developed history and story.

Map Name:
On the beaches of Ugashi

Description:
The prosperous society of Ugashi has been lead by a high counsel for decades, trade with the neighboring kingdom of Rhiquar has guaranteed it.  But disagreements over the gods have forced the society in to civil war.

Take your role as one of the seven rulers on the civil war torn island of Ugashi

Here is a short review of Plexus's map.Sorry for the delay!
Map Name: Realms of beuty and blood
Map Maker:Plexus 22
Map Type: RoE
Map Difficulty: hard
Map Size: M
Date of review: April, 24 2005
Special win/loss conditions none
Map maker's description:The objective is simple: DESTROY THINE ENEMY by any means possible!
Oh, and don't forget to pause every once in a while to take in the scenery and smell the roses.
General description:It's a 1 vs 1 challange map.The mapmaker gave the possibility for a wide rande of game styles on this map.He set a separate treasure zone for both players, he gave each one a tent, allowing wach one to gain acces to some relics and so on.Players have only 2 direct ways of meeting:eighter boarding a boat or via underground.
Starting zones are rich, having one mine of all resources + gold. With a bit of skill this can be cleared in the first week easy.
ChallangesIt's a rush map by definition, so the biggest challange will be to rush your opponent.Aside from that there can always be different gamestyles that allow other challanges
Mapmaker tips:Your map has a good layout, but there is only one thing i don't liken one hand you give players lots of oppertunities(utopias/relics/pandora boxes) and on the other side you allow one player to end the game late week 2.Defeating several lvl 6 guarding the underground enterance can be done day 1 if lucky, but i did it day 2 with fortress.Crossing the underground lasts about 5-6 days so with a good chaining one is be able to attack mid/late week 2.
IMHO you should make massive guards to the underground enterance and replace the Hill Fort in the middle with something more appealing, cos even if the players have equal skills, red will always have the advantage cos he has the underground enterance closer to home and so has little way to go compared to blue. The quantities of guards to the main treasures&even passing areas&hill fort are set to random.so the computer will rarely exceed several lvl 6 for the enterances and for the treasures.About the lvl 7 guarding the topes&hill fort they will prolly again be few or several.Better set fix numbers for key elements of the map. Also stronger guards to the shipyards will allow players to discover more from the map instead of just rushing.
Conclusion:I think with a few final touches, this map could be suited for tourney game the way you intended it.

just my 2 cents

Revived!

I'd LOVE to see this thread go on!

Tigris, it would be nice if you added stars (HC style!) for your older reviews - each map can get your mark (1-5). What do you think?

Please do some new ones (if you still playing Heroes 3 )!

My XL map-pack for SoD

Hi,

I hope that this is a proper topic to drop a link about few more XL maps for HOMM III SoD.

You can download my XL map-pack from TinyUpload.
(the link may eventually go down, since it's external server that I have no control over. I don't own paid server space, sorry about that). Last updated 03/06/2015 (major, check end of the readme-file).

The ReadMe -file doesn't properly go through every map at map-by-map basis. May update it later. I may update this map-pack in future if I ever finish more maps - and you can find the latest update at my blog-post right here (just ignore the "donation-button" - it's not my main intent).

You can also find few words about each maps as well as screenshots about the terrain (Abv.gnd. & Ug) there.

SHORT DESCRIPTION ABOUT THE MAPS:
These are not story-based maps, but rather quite straight-forward of a kind maps (I admit not to have put very much emphasis on story for maps that are not story-driven in the first place). Anyone looking XL-maps like that might enjoy these. Anyone looking for hard puzzles and story, however, might not want to download this map-pack. I'm not a pro making these, so I'm sure many of you seasoned map-makers and heroes veterans on this site aren't overly impressed about the maps, but I had some fun playing through them myself, so perhaps someone on this forum might like them, as well. There are currently 5 maps in the download (with couple different of variations):

The maps included in the pack:

1. Caverns of Eden (2 Teams) 1.0.31
[...] Caverns of Eden (2 Teams Alt.) 1.0.31
[...] Caverns of Eden (4 Teams) 1.0.31
2. Dunes of Insanity v1.11
3. Forest of The Old Godz (4 team) 1.0*
4. Star Dimension X v1.031
[...] Star Dimension X v1.031+
    -4 extra cities
[...] Star Dimension X v1.031 (Allies)
[...] Star Dimension X v1.031 (Allies)+
    -4 extra cities
5. The Unexpected Guest (Allies) v1.0.3
6. Wyverns Tail Coast (Allies) v1.01
  *New addition

Count: 6 (plus different variations)

Feel free to try them out if you want.

NOTE: I feel that The Unexpected Guest (being first one made of the bunch) isn't up the the level of others, but is included, nevertheless.

Any input or comments about what "rocked" or "sucked" are appreciated. Have fun! :-)

-------------------------------

The most recent update: Map-pack has been updated last time at: 3rd of July 2015 (check end of the ReadMe-file for more details)

-Added one full new map (Forest of The Old Godz)
-Added two (2) new versions for Star Dimension X with 4 extra   cities
-Corrected error for many other maps, where Fly and Dimension Door were disabled on map editor's "Spells-menu", yet they appeared in the map commonly, because they weren't disabled on town-specific setting (one has to disable them for each town in the map also)
