Dumped for a free burger
Burger King started a campaign that offered Facebook users a coupon for a free Burger King sandwich if they dumped 10 of their Facebook friends. As Facebookers deleted the 10 unlucky friends deemed to be worth trading for 37 cents’ worth of fast food, the application sent a humorous notification to each of the banished friends, bluntly alerting them that they were abandoned for a free hamburger.
Result?
234 thousand people were de-friended for the price of a burger Why I am laughing? The campaign was brilliant, it only showed people the truth. That facebook is the kind of cool site OMG I have so many friends where you can't even tell when you were deleted. Quality or quantity? How many of those friends wouldn't stab you in the back without remorse? And if so why would you keep them as friends? The people who launched the campaign wondered if the average facebook user wanted or needed that many friends and apparently their solution worked.
As one user said, he was keeping his so-called friends because he did not want to feel bad in case they found out they were deleted. But that's because nobody had offered him a burger in return.

Can't blame them. If I was psycho enough to have a facebook account, I'd dump tens of friends in a heartbeat for free burgers.
I always feel pity for the people that say they have '50+ friends' in real life, because you can know by default, without doubt, that they are lying or that they are misguided. Usually, they have pitiful standards for what qualifies as a friend. Because there isn't enough time in a day to maintain that many friends and actually have a genuine relationship. With 24 hours in a day, it's difficult to have 10 genuine friends.

Not surprised. Burgers aren't evil, they don't start wars and destroy everything.

I have a Facebook. And I'd probably dump 10 friends for a burger - but I'd never dump all of them.

LOL, this is great. I bet it pissed of Facebook, but good.
I've never even seen facebook and never go to myspace either except to check out music. But on youtube I sometimes get random invites. If I have to ask who the hell they are I don't think they qualify as a friend.
I think I'll go eat at Burger King just because they did this.

Nah.
But about a quarter of my Facebook friends aren't actually my close friends, but acquaintances I met a few times, or friends of friends.
