Fighting games

Simple topic!: Which fighting game is the best?
The headline is called Street fighter Versus Tekken cuz most people prefer one of theese..

It's a game kind you rarely see in theese times.. And that sucks, cuz fighting games is perfect multiplayer/hot seat gaming! It's a good way to learn the controller's...

I my self prefer Tekken series.. Especially tekken 4 and 5 ;p
And it is so cool to take the IRL-fighting sport to the consoles so we all can enjoy smashing the opponents to death and destruction..
It's a little bit stupid to have ogres, bats, dinosaurs, swordmen, robots and a tree's to fight, but that is okay, cuz you don't have to use them..
My favorite Character has, and always will be Yoshimitsu ;p I'm untouchable with him ;p i almost got every attack and combo imprinted in my fingers (geeky, but fun)

Huh? You know that street fighter and tekken are the two best-selling and known fighting games!?

Mortal Combat and Tekken Is rated arround the same metascores, but tekken is much more known all over the world, and much more sold..
Street Fighter got even higher metascores than Mortal Combat and tekken.., and has sold arround as much as Teken series..

So basicly yes ;p there is some(many) people hwo plays Street fighter

Virtua Fighter is rated a little higher than tekken and mortal conbat, but a little less than street fighter.. I don't really know how known Virtua Fighter is, or how many sold games..

Well... I'm gonna buy Street Fighter 4 soon... looks awesome!

Tekken... meh. Not that awesome imo, sure it's fun but nothing compared to Guilty Gear and Soul Calibur imo...

Street Fighter 4 will be my first game from the Street Fighter series, Guilty Gear made me love 2D fighters

Yoshimitsu... why the hell does he wear a sword anyway? In that case Lei Wulong should be allowed to wear a pistol too

Lei Wulong is my favourite character btw, nothing more satisfying than throwing yourself to the ground as the opponent tries to attack and then flip up in their faces

EDIT: Also, I have Tekken 5 King's ultimate throwing combo memorized in my hands... Man, it was 2 years since I played Tekken 5 and I still know it

Why not the thread is called "best fighting game". It should be named that instead. Then my best fighting game is the Little Fighter series
link

I've actually a friend, who has created his own modification of Little Fighter. Very sick.

Yeah because people nowadays play Street Fighter 3 online on arcade emulators (see GGPO -- almost lagless)... guess they don't go out and buy the game (google sfiii3.zip)

EDIT: As noobish as it may sound I never heard of Virtua Fighter

The things I don't like in SF3 are combo speeds (too insane). But I can make macros with AutoHotkey

DS# where du you get your info about that? My source could be unreliable cuz its a danish one.. But still, i belive the program..

Adrius# Uuhh, yeah i totally forgot about Soul Calibur! SC III is really enjoyable! But i still prefer tekken...

Yoshimitsu is a person in the wrong game yes, but i like he's combat style/tactic,. The sword is just a happy bonus to finish off the opponent.. Love his sword slashes.. Especially the suicide spin..

And you are right about Lei and his lye down tactics ;p they are effective, and he is a master in the chninese arts of combat ;p

And i can proudly tell you all that Tekken 6 is in progress

@Death: Hahaha, cool. Like, macro cheats?

Well... I remapped my controller while playing Tekken 5 so that L1 was LK + RK, R1 was LP + RP and so on...

that's the only way I was ever able to make King's super throws...

@Disturbed_Gnu: I like how you can intimidate your opponent as Lei by going into Crane stance and hopping towards them too

I always like fighter characters with complicated stances and stuff

EDIT: Oh, and Yoshimitsu is way more awesome in Soul Calibur than in Tekken

I tell you why..

One of my friends have made his own mod., and it's still in progress.
He has made his own mod. since 2006. Overall 29 new characters.
He says he has made his own schoolmates in this game. And all of them is fan-made and they've different special powers.
It's quite fun though.

Not just that but more advanced ones (simple scripting), such as:

WASD are the controls (W jump, S duck, A left, D right), and the punches/kicks are on Insert/Home/PgUp (punches) and Delete/End/PgDn for kicks (from weak to strong).

Then if I want to execute a Quarter-Circle Right (which is difficult on a keyboard) I assigned it to a key like E for example and when I press a punch/kick while E is pressed down, the script automatically performs the Quarter Circle Right and presses the respective punch/kick (and depending on the character, performs the respective move).

In fact I even added a few useful combos there, like  LP, MP, HP, RAIDA. Or Back+MP, HP, RAIDA. (RAIDA = half-circle backwards + MP or HP).

But I only did it to Ibuki though (I didn't even finish it). Even that difficult combo to do with Ibuki I made:

Crouching HK close, cancel into HK close, cancel into super-jump, Forward+HP (at the right time!), cancel into Forward+MK. Does incredible damage for a simple close crouching HK (where it all starts from).

Yes setting the timing is difficult and for best performance/precision you may need a dual-core at least (so the script runs truly parallel), which I don't have right now. AutoHotkey is a very useful program and scripts are easy (extremely easy if you know C programming).

I also put the super-jump on SPACE (pressing space makes a super-jump in the script) and other miscellaneous user-friendly stuff added in there (you can't believe how hard it is to realize how to best lay it out for comfort).

If you want I'll give you the script but it's only for Ibuki and not finished. (the super arts combos are missing for example, as are the EX move combos, but the super-arts themselves (without combo) are done).

Oh yeah, it's fun when its complicated controls! Figures like Eddy/Christi is just a model for NOOBS, they are so easy to cntrol and hard to hit when you play against someone hwo just presses every botton available on the controller..

I don't like Yoshimitsus outfit in SC, he looks like a clown. But when he talks it's kinda funny! "Namu Namu Namu..."

But if we are talkin SC, i like/love Nightmare and his sick power tricks to take out the opponent....

Back to the topic.. How am i able to rename the Topic? I can see there is more people playing MC, VF and others instead of Tekken or SF

@Death: Wow... that's advanced cheating

Would be fun to assign like a, 60 hit corner combo to a key You know, cuz when they're in the corner you know they won't move any further backwards.

I don't own any Street Fighter games yet... would be pretty nice for Guilty Gear though

As a one time thing that is, I like learning things on my own.

@Disturbed_Gnu: Arrrgh Christie... she's just in the game for the boobs. I mean noobs
