So, Death, in your opinion, banishment of pedophilia is stereotypical too?

And Gen-Man, I'm always trying to be the one to think before judging, but whatever she might've said to him... Come on, man. He went medieval on her over what? Something verbal? A man who becomes a werewolf when provoked by a 15 year old should be confined in a cage, not be allowed to carry a gun and a baton.

He's a cop, who's probably has to always around around the scum of society and listen to what they say and for all we know she might've been provoking him for the last half an hour and he patiently did his job and that shoe was just the final straw that made him snap and hit her a couple of times before he calmed down again.

If nothing, he could've just slapped her.
Not that a slap would be alright either. I'm just saying that, if it was so unbearable, he didn't have to cripple her.

After the initial rage, she was on the ground, and he kept hitting her with his fist. That's not the matter of a moment of lost control, it's a matter of years of silenced rage which then all emptied upon this chick.
If he can't cope with his rage, maybe he should've joined the military. That way he could burn, rape and pillage all he wanted and still be a hero.

He did not cripple her, he  hit her like 4 times, 2 of which were really hard. Now the fact that it might've been years of repressed rage may be true, but it doesn't contradict what I've said, in fact it's the other way around because it's what called the bigger picture. And if that's the case then cops like should receive free and involuntary psychological help to prevent thing like this from happening.

Would you hit someone like that for throwing shoes at you? And I'm not talking about if you'd do it or not, that depends, I'm talking if you'd be charged of assault or not, and I think you would be. You don't kill someone just because he punched you once (yeah, exaggerated example, but still )

The fact that he's a cop does not give him the right to act like that, like a 'superior'.

Read my first post, Ash, I started out saying that what he did was wrong and should be punished. I just don't like it when people turn the man into a monster based on that video alone.

And the last line was completely irrelevant to the whole debate.

Why was it irrelevant? This video just shows that the police can do anything they want even for a very 'small' reason like throwing your shoes at them, which is not right IMO. Remember this?

Because it's a human matter, a human snapped and beat another human. Whether he's a cop or not is irrelevant because it could happen to any human and any human should be punished for this.

Where I come from, the police has no right to beat anyone when he just feels like some is getting on his nerves. I am surprised that someone defends that just because "oh he has been under a lot of stress lately.." or similar crap like that. That is not what police should be able to do. That is NOT their job. They are allowed and should use violence if they need it for self defense or in order to protect someone else from getting hurt.

What an ass.

I don't care if she's 15... it was just a SHOE. A SHOE!

They could've just locked the door and let her "calm down"... heh, as if she wasn't calm already.

That may be so. I understand that you already said that what he did is wrong and that he should be punished but the defence of his reaction is simply wrong. Why? You've already summed this up perfectly.
Quote:

However it is far from irrelevant wether he's a cop. I respect your attitude of "comprehension" (let me call it that for the moment) and all but if you really think it's irrelevant that he's a cop we have two entirely different views of cop.
Dude a cop is a "law-enforcer" right? They are probably among the civil servants that have the most responsability, wouldn't you agree (serious question eventhough I think it's rhetorical)?
He's simply not allowed to snap. He musn't. He can snap as Peter the individual but when he's sargent Peter of the policeforce he musn't snap. It is his job an responsability not to snap it's as simple as that. If he can't he shouldn't be a cop. This may sound cold or cruel or whatever you want to call it but that's how it is. I fully support the idea of psychological treatment etc. but then one should make sure that those guys first get back into their jobs when they've recovered.

@TheDeath
I'll never be able to tell you off as charmingly as Bak (simply because I usually don't have the nerve after reading your replies) but still... Yes women and men are equal. I don't have stereotypes. But yes I believe that it's worse to beat a girl than beating a boy (note: it doesn't matter wether they're children or they're 30 beating them in the first place is wrong but since they've already been punched the former is far worse).
Boys/Men are usually stronger than girls/women and can usually defend themselves better. That's no stereotype that's simple fact lol. And I believe that it's wrong to fight someone weaker than you. And most women on this planet will be weaker (talking pysical strength as in muscle strength) than me and most men should we have a fight. I must be such a matcho pig for thinking that I know...
Note how this was about a cop beating bursting and you make it about "stereotypes".

EDIT: The difference? Those guys in the video are simple beating the guy to a pulb because they feel like it racist ****s that they are. I don't believe they suddenly all snaped (like the guy in the video may have done)...

I agree about the whole example topic, I've thought about that too. But let's be honest with ourselves for a moment, in 99% of the time when people talk about police brutality and such they talk about a cop using his authority to beat up people (like in the video that phoenix posted which was just sick). I don't about you, but it took me a whole page of this thread and much thought to think about the whole example issue. So, in most cases, it is not the reason people would "prosecute" that cop.

My analogies are never that off and have a direct relationship.

My post was only about stereotypes, and what the hell has pedophilia has to do with stereotypes? You mean stereotypes of children vs adults? (see my reply to Azagal below).

Of course there's racist people around too. So if I say "and then people wonder why we have racists" you're going to reply "so banning racism is also stereotypical in your opinion"?

It's like saying "computers don't smell". Makes same sense, if there's any.

@Azagal: sorry but it doesn't work that way. When a guy says men are stronger, he is sexist. And it might be true, since there are strong women too. So women want to be considered strong, otherwise we're sexist. But they don't want to get beaten?

If you want to act like a man or use his "stereotypical qualities" then expect a "stereotypical beating" so to speak. Of course, it would have been better if you said "look at that! he hit a weak girl!" with the emphasis on WEAK, not GIRL, cause you can say "weak boy" too.

If not then it's a plot of women to take over the world as I have suspected. They want the 'good' qualities of men but they don't want the bad ones (such as being beaten like a man).

It didn't take me much thought to realize the "example" matter since I've grown up with it. My initial anger was all about the guy beating the living daylights out of a child. Any reason is not an excuse for doing so (I realize that you're not claiming the oposite here). But when you came along with the "it's a human matter" it instantly came to (ehm I may look stupid for actually answering your question since I'm not sure wether you really wanted an answer). But yeah the cop won't be prosectued for "not forfilling his duty as a rolemodel" but for beating up a child (not that you couldn't draw conclusions from that).

No if a male says that "they" are stronger than females he isn't sexist. He's right. Of course there are PLENTY of women out there who'd kick my ass BADLY (when I was in korea I knew 3 black belted ladies.... omg they still scare the snow out of me oO) but compared to the part of women that'll lose in muscle strength/fighting ability to me or most men out there their percentage is close to 0.
So there isn't anything wrong with saying that men usually have more muscles and fighting abilities than females.

But you know that's not really the point. I emphasize the fact that she's a girl not because she's weaker (which she is a) for being a child b) for being a girl deal with it) but because she's A GIRL.
Any male with a sense of decensy musn't ever hit a girl/female.
You can call that sexist I call it chivalry. Not even that lol it's supposed to be common sense.

Even if you're fighting the supreme masteress of all martial arts as a man you still shouldn't fight her.
