Leo_Lion,

Guilt is a thing of honorable men. Always remember this as you look to the future and amend the time of your past.

I am no different. I spend every day thinking of the things I said to my brother when he almost drowned trying to follow me out to the middle of the lagoon. He was a much weaker swimmer than I and he told our mother that he didn't want to wear his arm floats to help him swim. He was drowning while I told him he was 'immature and stupid' for following me. But he only wanted to be as strong as his big brother; who was fearless in water. I didn't see this because I was blinded by my own immaturity and ignorance. It was not I, his big brother, who saved him. I failed his expectations and I have never forgotten this life-lesson. It is good to always remember and never forget that other people may depend on us not only for food or shelter, but also for courage and bravery. We can only hope to change the world if we start with ourselves.

Others Did...We Never Knew Them

While he screamed for help, I stayed afloat no more than a foot or two away. At first I ridiculed him for not having put his arm-floating devices on. Then I ridiculed him for having felt the need to follow me out so far; as I knew he was much younger than I and could not make the swim back if he came out to me. But then after a few minutes of him screaming I noticed his eyes were full of fear. So then I tried to help him by getting under him and letting him stand on my shoulders so he could breath. It was then that I realised why he was having so much trouble staying up. When I went down to stand on the bottom of the river bed, A very strong invisible force of moving water pulled me out from under him and swept/pulled me out toward the entrance to the alcove. I was able to break free of it and popped my head up to get air. When I did, I saw some people in a boat racing over to my brother. They helped him out of the water and into the boat. Then they came and scooped me out as well. I learned that when I went under, my mother started to scream from the shore for someone to help. Brave strangers saved both he and I. We thanked them and they went on with their business.

I later learned the thing that had caught my brother and I is called an "undertow". They are invisible and move beneath a top layer of still water. If you look at the water it looks normal with waves and relative peace until you try to put your foot on the waterfloor. Then you can feel the strong rapid movement and might possibly be carried off in the direction of its current. I never knew things like that existed until that day.

I'm sure you can imagine my guilt when I realised what I had done and what I had not done. I had chosen to belittle my 3yrs younger sibling in the face of real danger. I did not save him. I was lucky to have had the kind acts of strangers on that day. But if they were not there then I would have lost a brother because of my own callous regard for a younger brother who only wanted to be as strong as the one person he looked up to in the world. It was then, as we sat on the beach wrapped in blankets while sitting eerily quite and eating sanwiches, that I felt so utterly ashamed. I promised myself that I would never be so heartless and inconsiderate again. I very easily could have lost my brother because of my unacceptable disgracing moral ineptness. And I have kept my promise to this day. It's all part of becoming a man in this world. It's about discovering what is right and then pledging allegiance to it with all your heart. This is what gives a person honor and dignity.

I'll make this a ping-pong question. Same for IYY. How many of the girls in ur pics.. oh wait, no girls there, only asian geeks. Ok then, how many of the asian geeks have u banged? hehe..
Serious though: How much do you sleep-around?

I can honestly say that I haven't banged any Asian geeks. As for general sleeping around, I haven't done any. I could  do it two years ago with my girlfriend at the time, but didn't want to since I wasn't really comfortable with it. Since then I've just been too lazy to pick up girls. Masturbation is so much easier.

Thanks for the reply, Consis. I like the way that you told your story and especially how you showcased the moral. It reminds me a little of how a young Priest used to give sermons at my local church many many years ago.

As for the situation with you & your brother almost drowning, I can only imagine how your mother must have felt about the whole thing...she must have been sooooo upset.

Either way, situations like yours & mine help me to realise that there is always some good in everthing that happens, even if they are bad. It might just be that we don't see/understand it right away.

Oh, IYY...If you've given up on trying to pick up chicks, does that mean that you simply PAY for their services now?!

Oh no! Too easy to answer that one, IYY.

I'm a married man, bud...remember! That means that I don't sleep around at all! Heck, since I got married, the only thing that I am banging, is my hammer onto nails (which I use to build baby stuff, for when we have one)!

+++My question goes to Pandora:

Do you or did you ever SPANK your kids? Why or why not, please?

Well, I'll start off by comparing my schedule to my wife's and then we'll book an "appointment" together to make a baby. Of course we'll have to fill out the appropriate forms & documents, in order to make sure that everything is legitimate. But, once the "red tape" is taken care of, we'll make a baby and I will have served my function as a husband!

I know that to many of you it might sound like my wife and I are planning to go through in vitro fertilisation, but the truth is that I was just talking about making plans to have intercourse!

Isn't this the case for all married couples once the honeymoon is over?!

apparantly it is a very small place, one with just one computer to post from.

In response, yes I have spanked my kids. I hope its understood that there is a difference between 'beating' and 'spanking'. I've never caused any real injury to my children.

I haven't done so in a few years, my children are both old enough now to be spoken to and understand what I'm saying - so I don't feel that a spanking is neccessary. But when they were younger and constantly repeating the same bad actions in spite of being told 'no' a spank would help them to associate that their actions were bad. I have also never spanked my kids in anger.

One must certainly be careful with spanking once your children enter the school system, because those guys are just vultures waiting to feed on you. Your children are taught to call 911 if they are touched before they learn to read.

My question is to Conan - what was your most embarassing sexual experience?

***My question to the next taker (who can answer in the affirmative):
Have you ever been caught cheating in serious circumstances (important relationship/school exam/competition)? Did you talk your way out of it or get into serious trouble?

I'll take this one!
OK, I was 17 and I was in what was thought of a serious relationship at the time. I used to work at the beach as a lifeguard and had been going out with a girl for 7 months. Everything was going well and we where very happy. She left for July for a trip to germany (Baden-Baden I think it was).
Well, I had some fun during that time aswell....
There was this babe on our lifeguard team. She was 23 (6 years difference) and boy was she good looking. I could not pass up the chance, not with those hormones going crazy. I must admit that now that I am not with that perticular girl anymore and moved on several relationships, I don't regret it a bit (I did at the time though!!)
It all started an evening in front of a campfire (we used to camp often near where we worked). What started with massages and everyone looking at me funny ended up in my tent ---- more precisely in my sleeping bag. You get the picture. It was absolutely awsome. I mean, a 23 year old babe when you are 17?? Come on!
Then the less happy part. My GF came back in August and one of my "friends" told her I had something to tell her ... something very important about another lady. I think that friend was jealous of me at the time. Anyways, she asked me about it and I did not lie. I told her everything she wanted to know. I faced the wrath baby!!! oh boy. None the less, we stayed toghether after for 2 years and a half!!! YUP, I was able to convince her that I would not do it again, blah blah. And I was true to my word. I did not cheat on her ever again.
After the fact I did feel genuinely bad for playing with her feelings though.

Well, now for the next taker:
Why did you choose to become a member of this thread? Why did you decide to be so open about yourself? You can read what others have to say, so why would you put yourself in this situation?

So Pan, care to ask me another question?

Well, I'm happy being myself.... j/k

but really, 5-7 years ago I would have wanted to be my brother. He is a neurosurgeon and achieved quite a bit in his life. He's a really good person. Yet the time he spends working and not with his family is not who I am. So now, I don't anymore.

I havent thought about it much, but I guess if I gave you the name of the person, you wouldn't know him. In any case, it's Michael Lukyniuk. He is a principal clerk here at the House of Commons and a role model for me. His knowledge is astonishing and his clarity of thought is absolute. Very personable, yet very professionnal.

Another person who the world might know a bit more is the member of Parliament for Ottawa-Center: Ed Broadbent. A very socialist member of Parliament that lead the NDP to the biggest showing of their existance: 43 seats in the House. He worked hand in hand with Pierre Elliot Trudeau to bring back the constitution and to make French an official language in Canada. He left Parliament for some time to come back in the election of 2004 to sit as an NDP. He defeated the liberal stronghold of Ottawa-Center. This shows how much people liked him. His values are so well placed that he is leaving Parliament because his wife is ill and he wants to take care of her.

He is a real role model for me. That is the level I aim for my own life. If some of you wish to learn more about him, please follow these links:

http://www.cbc.ca/news/background/broadbent/
http://archives.cbc.ca/IDD-1-73-1580/politics_economy/ed_broadbent/

I will post my question a bit later

You have to take a look at the rules of this thread adnama, only answer questions that are directed to you, or ones that are open for any takers - and then once you have answered you are free to ask a question of another member who is playing. If you're not following the rules of the thread it is considered spam and will  be deleted, spam is generally quite damaging to the game as it throws it way offtopic.

Please try to keep that in mind, thanx!

btw, since I've never seen a pissed newt, I really wouldn't have been able to answer your question anyways!

Enjoy!

P.S. I am editing one of my Posts above, where Asmodean "accidentaly" deleted everything that I wrote and put his own reply inside of my Post. It's funny, so take a look...

Bad choice of a question, as Leo said. I've been to US, correct. I've also been to countries in the neighbourhood (Serbia, Montenegro, Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey), and also Slovenia and Hungary. This summer I'm planning on going to Germany and Spain.
I'll think of a good question and post it tomorrow.
