ooh.. but I didn't speak about the editor but rather about missing dwelling as for fortress or dungeon, I think.

meanwhile, if all dwellings could be available then it could be possible to obtain these dwellings from RTMG by replacing the 4 original military posts (for each tier 4 and 7) to each one of your particular dwellings.

now, about the editor, let's begin to get a entirely MOD with 8x4 = 32 functional dwellings before to check that. I'm saying editor without NCF for now because this mod is not a NCF based.

Of course,

and if you didn' know that:

it's possible to obtain NCF from random stack:

http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=27890

the mod needs an update to include recent NCF but there is a lot of NCF being able to appears in random stack.

(random stacks don't manage mixed armies)

Ouch I noticed another pecular thing.  I modified a user-made map to include NCF creatures, and played it as a 2-person hotseat game.  Map size is huge.  Whenever I reload the map, the game simply crashes to the desktop.  The game has to be restarted from desktop for the reload to work.  My harddisk has more than 7GB free space, with 4GB RAM and I'm not sure if the system specs be the issue here?

If you reload a saved game from this map then the bug is really normal.
It's impossible to reload a saved game from a map which been modified after the saving date.

if you meant that you have created a new game with this map after modification then

first note that the original or NCF editor/game can have some problems on Vista.

You can make these tests:

- take the real version of the map, load it in the editor, just move a already object on the map and save.
then go in the game to load the map.

- remake this test but this time put a original object on the map as a tree or any all-terrain object.

- check if the map has some scripts

also:

you can give to me in a rar archive:

1 - the user-made map not changed by you. (original version)
2 - the version modified by you which crashs in the game.
3 - all NCF files that you use for this map

and tell me what you did in the editor, what NCF, what position you put it, etc.

Thanks SimonaK for your prompt & dedicated expertise in the NCF universe

Your second scenario is the one.  The sequence is as follow :
1) Download a user-made map.
2) Modify the map to suit a 2h vs 6ai for hotseat play using HOMM5 map editor (I did this long before NCF becomes available).
3) Add NCF creatures to the map to enhance gameplay using HOMM5(NCF) map editor.
4) Start the game under 2-person hotseat mode from H5 ToTE(NCF).
5) Save the game after playing for a few game-days.
6) Reload the game.

I will debug using your suggestion and let you know over the weekend.  Frankly speaking, to recall which and where I added the NCF creatures is gonna be pretty challenging, as I think I scattered around quite a few places, but I'll do my best to trace every single of them

ok no problem.

I began too some tests.

first, you must know I've permanently two H5 installed in two different folders on my computer...
a H5 to play and the second to test.

this bug seems to be harder than the last one!

actually I have this mystery:

I reload a game in one of both game: all is good

I reload the same game in second H5: that's crashs....unbelievable...

and all of that after to have created teams from the editor in a user-made map and to have put some NCFs...

Listen to it: the default folder about saved game has changed for one of both game....

a folder exists in root game named « profiles » and now when I save a map, the saving file is created in profiles folder rather than usual folder as My Documents/My games/etc/etc....

I'm searching explaination of that....

Hi SimonaK,

Kindly retrieve the rar file from this link :

http://www.speedyshare.com/170772615.html

It contains the following :

1) original (unmodified) map;
2) the 'heavily' modified map with NCF creatures;
3) text file detailing where all the NCF creatures are located, as well as the major modifications made as per pt 2).

The modified map also contains other normal changes like garrison armies (no NCFs), hero artifacts etc, so I dont think such changes have any impact on the loading crash.

There is one area which I cant test.  As per my previous post, I modified the map in 2 stages.  The 1st stage involved all changes (major & minor) before NCF was released, using the default map editor.  When I started adding NCF creatures using the NCF map editor, I did not backup the modified map (1st stage), and it is overwritten together with this 2nd stage modification (which simply adds the NCF creatures).  I couldnt remember if I have loaded successfully before adding the NCF creatures

For mine, the saved game always only record under : My Documents/My Games/Heroes of Might and Magic V - Tribes of the East/Profiles/'Username'/Saves

Perhaps it is due to your system having 2 HOMM5 games installed, so it has to locate an 'alternative' folder to store the saves?

I thought it was, but it wasn't

I reinstalled all of both game and all bugs are fixed...and both H5 now use same folder: My Documents/My Games/Heroes of Might and Magic V - Tribes of the East/Profiles/'Username'/Saves

but, a trick now: after I reinstalled games I decided to put read-only to profiles folder and all files and folder inside.

you can try it to see if that has an impact about your own bug.

I suggest to you to re-install your game TotE 3.1 and before to run it put read-only to profiles folder and all under it.

then re-begin to edit user-made map and change teams and add NCFs.

Hmm my saves only go into that folder.  By making them 'read only', wont that cause the save game function to fail, or that it will create an alternative route to save in

when I talk about the folder named « profiles » I'm talking about folder contained in H5 root folder
and not these of « My Documents » anyway that doesn't exist.

I don't know if to do that makes a real impact on your bug by fixing it but perhaps that yes.

Ahh ic.  Ok I just checked the Profiles folder under the H5 root directory.  It seems that only 1 file inside is modified/created : p2pdir.  It is a cfg file, not sure what it does.  There arent any saves inside this Profiles in H5 root directory too.  Are we in sync?

Right.

but from my side, some saving have began in this folder when I made what you said to do.
(edit a user-made map, make teams and add NCF and play, save and reload)

I seen that but I misunderstand why.

I see

Oh, do check out the link in my post above for my modified map, and see if you can duplicate the bug I was mentioning.  Well if you need some time-off from making new cool NCF creatures, you can try to win this map.  Caution : for veteran players (co-op) only...you have been forewarned

No worries, the map is fully playable

The 'bug' is that if you load a saved game of the modified map, the game will crash down to desktop.  So instead of reloading a saved game, you have to 1st quit to desktop, restart H5 and load the map from main menu.  It is simply cumbersome as there is this 1 added step, but otherwise, the map runs flawless

That is why I highlighted for you to see if you can duplicate this 'bug' at your end - loading both a saved game of the original map and the modified map, and see if yours crashes down to desktop too. (Note : if you restart H5 and load a saved game from main menu, both maps load ok.  So you have to play a few game days, save, and load the saved game from there to see if the 'bug' exists at your end.)

Edit : I forgot to mention that it seems that if you play under 1-player, this 'bug' doesnt seem to surface.  It is only there if you play under 2-player hotseat mode.  I'm beginning to think it is memory constraints
