One Ring to Rule Them All...

So, you have just seen the most awesome movie to come along in years. Great visuals, great acting, great story, what did you think of it?

You've been waiting for months and the time has finally come. Did it meet your expectations?

And what by the Hair on the Big Beast's Blue Balls are you going to do until next christmas, let alone 2003 for the next installments?

(I hope you guys don't mind me getting rid of your posts on cheese and starting times, but I have control, so STAY ON TOPIC!)

(Boy, I can be a real A-Hole if I want.)

(No, you did the right thing.)

(If it was the right thing how come your talking to yourself. Could it be ... a guilty concious?)

(Maybe...but I just think the power went to my head.  Anyway I would talk to people if they stayed on topic.)

(But, they're gonna be pissed because you blasted their posts.)

(Shut-up you!  I am perfectly OK with what I did.  Anyway the Fans won't be able to help themselves AFTER they see the movie.)

(Good point!)

(Thanks!)

well, I've seen the movie yesterday. It's a very very beautiful movie, great visuals like you said. It's also very funny to see those hobbits standing next to a human (not to mention that beast). Too bad that "..." and "..." die. :-P (don't go spoiling the fun there Zut...) I almost can't wait till next year for the second chapter. I tell you it's really annoying, having to leave the cinema and you didn't see an entire movie, but well I guess it's worth it. The length of the movie isn't a prob I think, you're stuck to the screen full 3 hours. But there's one thing that really bothered me.............Liv Taylor is only in the movie for about twenty minutes... sob,sob,sob,...

Sexy elf chicks, wizards, orcs...

yeah, it was neat!

Something about the pacing seemed a bit odd to me, but I couldn't quite place my finger on it.

Heheh, Lupin, we have the same release date of the movie, because it came to cinemas here today. I didn't see it, but I will, but I'm going to re-read the LOTR now, so it'll be even more fun .
I'm not so ruched to run and see the movie as fast as I can, so I'll propably see it only in a week or alike, because I'll go on Saturaday, but the closest is occupied by some family event.

I have already read the book, so it's not a problem. But there are alot of things that I don't remember, so rereading of the book won't hurt.

Nah. He just likes to talk to himself. Everything would be much easier to understand if he would say, even once, "My Precious", or "Smeagorl" .

Though the thread is supposed to be about the movie, I see no point in opening a new one just for this post. I have found some Foreign language site (Propably French) with these really cool LOTR pics. I don't know what's the site about, or what is there in the other sections, but these pics are really good. Even Wesley should take a look, just treat them as fantasy art, not a Tolkien art.
The URL is:

Hope you'll like the pics.

Best movie ever

*** WARNING - CONTAINS SEMI-SPOILER INFO *** (hopefully it wasn't anything that wasn't already known)

The countdown has already begun ... only 364 more days until The Two Towers!

Unlike with Harry Potter, the script editing was close to perfect. The Potter movie felt like it was missing something the whole way, because some of the things they cut out made the book what it was. But LotR was done perfectly. I was looking forward to seeing what they did with Bombadil until I found out he was cut out, but he didn't really play that vital a role, and he would have just confused people who hadn't read the book. Same with the other stuff they cut out: none of it was absolutely necessary, and most of it would have been very confusing if you didn't know the book. And putting Arwen in a more expanded role was fine with me; after all, non-Tolkien readers need some reason to remember her character until Return of the King.

ONE QUESTION

Are there any DROW ELVES in

Lord of the Ring?

Because I heard of Bad elves with Long White hair with bows and white dressings and a girl as leader.. Are they drows?

Elves are the bad guys in The Hobbit, But Drow elves themselves come after the "Lord of the Ring".  It probably has to do with D&D and novels by people influenced by D&D.  Because in the "Lord of the Ring" Orcs are the creatures that are created in dark mockery of elves, like trolls are created in dark mockery of Ents.  So there are no "dark" elves really.  But the elves are kinda xenophobic and tend to stay out of the way of others.

(That wasn't a good explaination at all.)

(It was good enough until some Tolkein scholar sets the record straight.)

(Yea, its just like you to depend on the others to correct you because your to lazy to look it up.)

(Come on, the others love finding fault and showing the errors.)

(Why don't you just ask your wife, she really into that Tolkien stuff.)

(Why don't YOU ask her and explain this argument, she already thinks you're a goof.)

(Hey! didn't we agree not to go there?)

(Okay, I'm Sorry.  Why are all these people lookiong at me?)

(They're not looking at you, you're just paranoid.)

(Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean people are not out to get me.)

(Too true.)

Ok, to restate it because it wasn't a "good explanation", indeed the Drow elves emerged after Tolkien's work...they were a new creation by TSR and WotC (or whatever they're by) in the Forgotten Realms novels I do believe...actually, I don't think they ever emerged in Dragonlance, but although I'm not old enough to really know, perhaps it emerged in D&D first, or maybe not, but it's definately not in LotR
