Valeriy, the system administrator, has requested that mods delete old threads that have low quality and trim threads of superfluous posts where possible.  Is that a good enough answer for you?

Take several of my comments - please.  I'll be glad to see all the meaningless ones (at least 50%) deleted.  (Including this one.)

Horn of the Abyss has returned to sticky status, and a QP goes out to Aleee for his work in maintaining interest in the mod. I will definitely send out further QPs to each of its developers one way or the other, but will first wait a short while in anticipation of the English version hitting the forums (gives a little extra incentive hopefully).

Aside from this, I still owe some more bonuses to various people for finishing other great projects and will get on it soon.

Could you please put some clear descriptions in thread names? For example HoTA thread has something like [DOWNLOADABLE - ALBEIT IN RUSSIAN!!!], which looks ridiculous.

I suggest chaning it to [READY - RUSSIAN ONLY] withour exclamation marks. It's easier to read and looks more neutral. I'm sure than new users or just random people who not track progress of H3 mods can be confused if their English is poor... or they are too lazy to read well.
Who in the world knows word 'albeit' anyway?. "Downloadable" also has too many syllabes to be appealing. "Ready for download" would be so much more clear.

That's my general suggestion for similiar threads.

Albeit is funny and has more cynical impact than "in russian only". It suggest clearly "until then, we don't have the choice but ignore". The capital letters show our great interest though. Why would we need every thread with neutral description? Let's have some fun.

Yes, you're quite right, it's obnoxiously titled. I'll edit it in the morning. Please note though that those three exclamation marks were there long before I was moderating, so it's not my own added emphasis (much as I love and support HotA).

Albeit isn't much of an obscure word - it's relatively common and more or less a formal way of saying "but", no cynicism implied. Personally I go with Tolkien's idealogy on language and don't believe in using highly-simplified English just because we host members of various nationalities. How rude and patronising would that be, when most of the members of HC already write more intelligently and fluently than most native speakers? In RL or a welcome thread, sure,  but this is the Internet where you can look up the meaning of a word in two seconds. Etc, etc.

I, for one, enjoy sesquipedalian language and eschew the feculent masses of vacuous mooncalves who ululate and repine at the merest suggestion that they might have to open a dictionary; and being wholly ingenuous, I have to say that at times the strident, brackish cacophony of their puerile whining is enough to make my skull practically fulminate with prodigious, pressurized jets of incarnadine blood and a frothy ebullition of lamentations for the forgotten art of writing.

Bersy's new ERA release is an obvious receptor for a QP.

Well, realistically he deserves at least two for such a contribution, but I have yet to actually see it in action, so I'll do so before adding more awards prematurely.

Cleaned the garbage posts out of the HotA and Forge threads after a generous four warnings. Any further resurgance of those off-topic tirades will mean a silence. Also a very well-deserved +QP applied to Kegolo for his impressive Covenant town (sorry it comes so late).

Silenced majaczek for 5 days in response to continued off-topic tirades, initially with insults, in the Horn of the Abyss thread, despite six warnings from three moderators to please stop. This goes against my better judgment as a penalty was probably warranted as well, but I will hold back on this sanction, this once, considering his constructive history.

I quote it here for Cepheus to rethink about his function of moderator since the way of order he impose in HoTA thread, no need to call for Valery yet.

===================

Sorry Cepheus for you not seeing anything constructive in the debate, but it seems more your fail than my. Perhaps I rushed too much, but once there weren't unfair censorship, the respected warmonger agreed on most obvious things. The war was started a few years ago by HoTA, and we just want tolerable circumstances for peace. Okay no more rush since the final warning, but it is all about the future - good one for both sides - to HoTA become Heroes of the community and ERA getting the feature faster - instead of ERA getting the feature just a few  years before VCMI would complete and HoTA beeing banned like Rekvizit.

If people wouldn't need to fight for peace the role of moderator would be useless, don't you think Cepeheus? Guarding country borders is necesary, conquer definately not. Me, Warmonger and a few people were guarding the borders, while HoTA were trying to conquer since a few years. Rules you Cepheus impose seem not compatible with official ones, neverthless I don't want any silence or penalty, be it fair or not. I have no intention to beeing martyr so i can smell the morality until I'm forced to run to the rainbow.

Dot. Feel I react to warning as it supposed to be, even if I disagree. HoTA is only mod with so propertiary vision which is not Rekvizit - so it is only topic on the forum to say it and be ontopic. Even then we may wait for Valery decision on this - a few days of beeing late is nothing for a few years beeing passive for HoTA fighting the community. Dot. Dot. Dot.

EDIT: I remind Cepheus your title is "Hero of Order", having both "Hero" and "Order" - what you fight for may be "Order" but is rather not "Heroic" - Nazis also had the order - each Jew's body were fully used - this is reason for "Hero" beeing more important in the title. You seem went wrong way once abandoning stars - it seem you would be more heroic if you would matter for stars. It's sad that the title you get is not enough fair. "Order" without "Heroism" would be "Tyranny". I think/believe nobody need to call Valery to make you behave in sensible way - that is you are able to do it on your own. Deletion of this post is immediate making me call for Valery. I hope we can have the peace (not harmful order) with you still on the function.

============

Take it as complainment on Cepheus, but not take the consequences if it can be done in peace. Perhaps he really want to be lenient, but it seems he failed, because he even hiding it is somewhat a bully. Since Cepheus is only moderator looking at it - please other moderators look at it (and read a few times) and talk privately with Cepheus. This time the huge thread is nothing like SPAM, but almost fully sensible discussion on the matter, unavoidable in front of  HoTA.

For the sake of posterity, and in the interests of very clearly identifying where you are going wrong, out of a final hope that you will improve, I will give you a public rationale this time:

Free software is a subject I'm far from dispassionate about, and it has its place in HC (look at the VCMI thread). You are completely welcome to raise this issue if you like, in respect of HotA, WoG or any other mod. While I personally feel it is rather redundant to waltz in and make requests that a non-commercial project trying to disassemble a difficult game from 1999 make their sources fully public, I'm hardly going to censor or ban the topic or set out to stop you if you try to convince the team to do so.

My issues with the posting style you have been adopting include the following:

1) You are posting threatening and demanding rants rather than requests, adopting an adverserial tone and using antagonistic language (sinners, liars and so on). I don't know if that's down to your poor English, anger or plain bad manners, but as I see it, this is a forum primarily devoted to enjoying and recognising the monumental, unpaid efforts of modders. Certainly, there have been some efforts with suspect moral integrity (Rekvizit), but HotA actually is non-profit, and in any case it is unacceptable to issue ad hominem insults to other members at this forum. We appreciate those who sustain Heroes III, and whether addressed to entire teams or individuals, your conduct is something I find disgraceful and simply will not brook in this forum as a rule. In brief: if you cannot behave with civility toward the people responsible for the content here, in their own thread no less, you can get out.

2) When I leave you alone to post freely, your contributions gradually but quickly spiral off into tirades of complete or near-complete irrelevance to WoG and the thread at hand, comparing the team and its actions to political movements, injustices, Stalin, Lenin, communists, fascists, Nazis, etc at length. Tangents in discussion are perfectly acceptable, but this is ridiculous. I needn't chip in my views when the feeback is obvious; plenty of the other members have already expressed their clear and total disinterest in hearing you blathering on and on about politics in such an inappropriate setting. As I indicated to you already, commentary on social order and models belongs in the Other Side of the Monitor subforum, if anywhere.

3) You repeatedly ignored multiple warnings to stop or take it to private channels, and have instead followed up by whining about censorship and corruption on my part and the part of other moderators, with barely any sign of relenting. Frankly, any accusations of unfairness are laughable; I chose to apply a silence rather than a permanent penalty because I found your behaviour uncharacteristic and assumed you would return to being constructive if shown leniency - obviously a complete lapse in judgement on my part, as you have shown, and certainly unfair to any hypothetical future offenders who won't receive eight warnings to stop. I will add that your personal threats and commands to me, in public and in private, are hardly inspirational or indicative to me that you are capable of being reasonable. I am fairly patient, and always willing to accept feedback, but this case is nothing if not clear-cut.

That is the end of my discussion with you on this subject. Be thankful I'm still allowing you to post. Feel free to contribute to the forum as usual, whereas if you continue to disobey my warnings on posting this type of material again, it'll mean penalties and silences.
