I feel a bit confused now to be honest. So it is more like a scripting addon rather than a different game/new expansion? I.E. I can just play the normal HoMM3 while WoG enabled? And if so, why would I want to have WoG? Is there any reason then?

If you want to play pure Heroes only, I see no reason to install wog.

You were talking about bugs that were fixed in WoG rather than in HoMM3? And on the VCMI thread it says this:

Quote:
Features implemented so far:

- Support for all RoE, AB, SoD and WoG maps of any size
- Videos, sounds and music
- Land & sea hero interaction, battles and sieges
- All game objects, artifacts, skills but a number of spells
- battle AI
- Hotseat
- Linux support
NEW: Support for 32-bit graphics
NEW: Higher resolutions (1024x600, 1024x768, 1280x960, 1280x1024, 1336x768, 1440x900, 1680x1050, 1600x1200, 1920x1080)
NEW: Battle queue (like in H5)
NEW: Multiple autosaves
NEW: Extended creature window

Those things actually work right now as it is, I take it? And if that's the case I was curious to if I could play regular/pure HoMM3 but with just some of those additions, using the WoG "patch"? The additions being battle queue and extended creature window.

Pardon me if I am being slow now, but I am just trying to comprehend everything. And thanks for your responses so far.

Yes, that's the point of the project.

However, since game is remade from scratch, some features are still missing. But they're rather not important.
Since 0.89d VCMI can be installed also on ERA, in case you don't have WoG. WoG is obsolete now, since it's been closed in February.

Thank for an input from the creator itself, as I suppose by now this was concerning you and VCMI alone more than WoG itself. I somehow managed to  not see your website, and by scrolling through it right now I think I am  gaining somewhat more elaborative information to assist me in my confusion.

Because some of the best H3 maps available now require WoG.  I think you'd be surprised some of the things that can be accomplished with the mod.  And you can still play vanilla H3 with WoG installed.

Oh, well. Fair enough then. Might as well install it then.

I do get how I should use it (I think) but the game is now, after the install of wog/era 2 or what I should be calling it, kind of unstable, I have lagspikes/kind of staggering while playing with some second interval between each spike/stagger. Is this an indication I've caused a bug or is it only my own stupidity that have managed to screw it up for me?

I doubt a 3.3 ghz quad I5 processor would not be sufficent for this mod  Or else it has quite the requirements.

As I start VCMI or just regular HoMM3 complete it runs fine with no problems.

I may be wrong, but if passable terrain script is enabled, it may lag. Check wog options button, search for passable terrain, and disable it.

Unchecked. I unchecked most of the options. I should mention that the game staggers/lagspike in the menu as well, not only "in-ingame".

Thanks Bersy. It runs smoothly and without the "staggering lag" as I changed that line. I do get some error message every time I start a new map though, it is a lot of different numbers and letters and somewhere in the middle of it all it says %%world%%. Anyone know the reason of this? I also get another message stating "ERM has wrong syntax. Disabled."
