Fred, it was not a threat or a joke, just an expression. Nobody in their right mind, interprets something like "there were 3 things I could do, sit silently, joke about it or take a plane and come shoot you" (there, I paraphrased it more accurately) as a threat, especially if the context is giving three internet links instead of one. It is very clearly ironic and means "what else was I going to do, shoot you" This "I don't take that well, I don't take this well" attitude of yours is childish and paranoid. We don't have to watch our tongue more than usual (CoC standards) just because you have a tendency to flame drama and suck the living joy out of every little innuendo or sarcastic comment.

artu, i understand you are mad. but don't think that makes it ok to insult my view of things, or my mental processes. calling me childish isn't helping things. i am an adult, and i am fully capable of forming my own adult opinion.

this was an unneeded attack, in my opinion. i was only stating my point of view.

Dude, I am not mad. But the way you insist to call something a threat when it so clearly isn't, wont help your point of view or your mental process whatever that is.

I appreciate Artu's solidarity, but my going-away decision is not related especially to moderation or Fred's arguments problems.

5 years ago, after a complex surgery on my right hand, which took me away from music for 4 long years, I re-joined HC, learned ERM and all the stuff around then started pumping maps. All this stuff is very addictive and ideas-bursting; when my hand completely healed- cca. 1 year ago- I still found myself interested by further wog projects, while each time swearing to myself: it will be the last.

Tew4, then Heroes interface, then HoTA quality which inspired my to start on wog graphics, well, is hard to stop. But it has to be, I have much better to do. Thanks to fortuity, the recent moderation actions rung the bells that time came to leave, and I am grateful for that.

I read some untrue things, I wish to address some of them. First, if my memory is not betraying me, I am not over-requesting for moderation. I remember I sent about 3 hcm's to Corribus during his whole WoG forum moderation: one suggesting a qp for Fred's work, one asking editing an old thread and one asking to close an useless argue about WoG team stealing graphics. All other hcm's were related to other things.

I know that a few sick and bickering individuals as Hobbit dream about getting more power over the forum, thus will detract and constantly try to present things under their worse angle. I am aware that Hobbit manipulated Corribus, bringing him  to think my thread needed moderation-posting junk photo then kept asking us to stop while we were already done with-. Well, it worked well.

There was no problem between me and Fred. He went drama as usual, I explained I didn't mean to, then it was over. A good opportunity for Hobbit, however, to do what he does best: creating garbage tensions.

The truth is that WoG forum is one (if not THE one) of the most well organized and clean forums. All this with almost none moderation. It is a forum where people share then materialize creative ideas, because we have an available language allowing us to. The difference between this forum and OSM one, as example, is that when you see a wog post containing one pic, it probably took the poster several hours of intense work to achieve that.

We are not robots. As humans, when exhausted in hard and often tedious work, it MAY happen that we slip sometimes. This is almost always part of creative work: personal conflicts around ideas, then compromise/agreement, then get along and work together. I am not the kind of guy you tell to "stay on topic" then brutally tramp with a cutter and delete everything. I am not happy when my work is labeled as kindergarten, when hundred of hours went inside.

WoG moderation needs classy and refined approach: people who are willing to spend thousand of hours until they achieve their ideas are not likely the ones capable of straight marching in some moderator's rhythm. Within logical arrays of course, but I don't think any of us blatantly broke the CoC.

I wish you all have fun. Farewell.

Salamandre

PS: My regular account is disabled, I apologize for creating a second one but I felt there was need to clarify my non-protest position. Peace.

yeah, i kind of took offense to the kindergarten thing, but i made a joke out of it instead. hence the rubber ducky.

to me, it didn't matter whether your comment about "shooting me" was breaking the CoC or not. it broke my ties with working with you, is all that mattered to me.

So long Sal, and thanks for everything. You know there is an in-between approach between spending hours in here and disabling your account. You don't have to treat it like an addiction (or maybe you do). Two things; can you upload the new Wog Graphics so if he wishes to, Fred finishes it. Actually, the new Home of the Bat, Trans. Tavern, Death Chambers, eyes-rolling Living Skull and temple-like Bank were already much better than the existing graphics. So, I'll use it even as it is. Secondly, if you're not protesting anything, why did you remove your box links from Era mods thread? Will you reactivate them? If not, I have almost all of them backed up and I'll need help from Corribus so that we can make a new Era mods thread. It would be nice if you clear your position on that.

Edit: Links will come back says Sal.

First of all, I wanted to say that no matter what you think of me or my behaviour, Sal, I appreciate all of your work H3 modding community and I'll miss your presence here.

Now, about some problems with this forum. Corribus' post actually made me to do two things: write this post and never come back again.

See, Corribus, the problem with you is that on one hand your public explanations of your actions are rational, but in fact you don't seem to try to do anything more than just silence people. When I tried to PM you about some problems so that there would be no useless arguments about who I don't like or how it's rude of me that I see problems with people, you at first said that "everyone is rude" and that you will consider silencing everyone, and then - when I asked you if insulting others directly etc. is accepted by moderators on this forum - you just ignored my messages. I then thought maybe I should talk about it in public, and when I had the opportunity, you just said that I will receive a penalty I wanted "everyone else" to get (while I never said anything about that).

Is that what you call treating others with respect? Is that what you call moderating? Just closing threads, silencing people who want to solve this problem and pretending there's nothing else you can do about it? That's not even the "policeman" way - you're just admitting that you don't really want to do anything about problems with this forum, you just want everyone to be quiet so that there would be no work for you. Sometimes I wonder if there are some technical issues with moderating and that it's just painful to moderate anything, but since you had no problem with closing threads, deleting posts or silencing people for some absurd reasons, then it looks like that's not the thing. Hell, even if it was the thing there would be o excuse for that.

You should remember that moderating stuff isn't some kind of prize you got for good behaviour - it's a big responsibility. Avoiding simple analyzing what's the problem won't get you anywhere.

I'm afraid I'll get silenced again and that my post would be just eradicated, so I only hope other users will be able to read it before it happens. Thanks everyone for good times I had on this forum, but it just isn't a place for me and I think you can agree with me on that. Maybe Trith or someone else will post some news about Forge and stuff in the future.

Farewell.

1. We can hardly overestimate the value of Sal's activity in Heroes world. That's the fact. He worked really like a robot for years and helped many people including me.

2. I think that there is no reason for Jim, Valery, Hobbit, fred, [insert your name] to leave the forum at all. The problems and points of incompatibilities between us are actually so miserable, that seeking any sense in them would be absolutely worthless task.

3. Real life often raises psychological need to have a rest without burdening unfinished projects, local conflicts, promises and expectations. It's ok. It's normal to direct energy to other, probably non-game spheres. Just one point to notice. Whenever you decided to come back, just come back and do what makes you enjoy. And other people will enjoy your work too.

Edited by Corribus at 15:42, 22 Mar 2014.

Ok, I've been thinking about this new master thread we talked about a few pages back. I was asked to come up with sort of a template and then knowledgeable parties could fill in the details.

I'm thinking of a stickied index thread that provides very basic and up to date information on all important mods and other projects related to H3.

What do I mean by important? That's a little up for discussion, but we don't want the thread so cluttered that it was useless. So what I was thinking was to have significant entries for the big projects: WoG, ERA 2.0, HotA, VCMI and so forth. In this I am willing to hear nominations for things that should be highlighted like this. Then we will have a section on town projects that are far enough along to be worth of mention. Again, please feel free to nominate candidates.  Then we can have a miscellaneous section for other significant projects that we feel should at least be mentioned, even if they are still at early stages of development.

Ok, so here's the template I'm thinking of for the "big projects":

Name of project:
Link to graphic:
Responsible individuals (former and current - these are people who are actually doing or actually did work on the project!):
Very brief (1-2 sentence) description:
Most current available version (if applicable):
Project Website (if applicable):
Current status (active, finished, discontinued)
System requirements: (Other mods needed to run)
Link to download materials:
Link to major HC discussion page:
Links to other related discussion pages (please be judicious here, I can't link to 50. Pick just a couple. Nominate what you want, I'll make a decision.)

For the towns and other projects, we'll go with something simpler:

Name of town:
Responsible individual:
System requirements (WoG version, etc.):
Status:
Link to major HC discussion page:

So what I want from you guys is help (1) identifying projects that should be listed and (2) filling out information on these projects.  I want to make clear this won't happen without your help because I just don't know all this information myself. You can either discuss this stuff here or send me information privately. I'd rather have an open discussion though so the final result is by community consensus. Please keep the discussion civil, of course. If we reach a critical mass of information then I can make this new thread, which I think will help keep the WoG forum much easier to navigate. It will also, I hope, give this forum a more unified feel and let people see the bigger picture of what's going on.
