Mvass, criticism will come regardless.

Generally it is initially the post which will catch my eye, but if it comes from someone who routinely spams or disrupts I will be less likely to reward them, that's all. Likewise, if someone is consistently a positive part of the community, and I see a post that reflects that -  I will be more keen to give the QP. This is what I meant by that, I'm not saying that I only give QP's to people I like - I just place more value on their contributions on the whole as a member over making one good post out of nowhere.

It's easy to tell who are going to spam the boards & who is dedicated to HC.

I think within a reasonable time flood report can be taken off.
Not that hard to tell if someone is going to spam the boards or not.

Exactly, it should be something that we can lift when its appropriate to take it away, not something reliant on earning QP's to remove.

Also, its flood protect, not report - where do you get report from? lol

Pan, your idea certainly has merit. However, you may be underestimating the backlash that may come from such a policy. You think there's an uproar over one QP? Just wait until you give the equivalent of eight (!) QPs to somebody. That'll be controversial, make no mistake about that.

I dont know ANYWAYS!!!

Yea I think everything is fine.
No problems really except like once every 6 months when someone cries over a QP.
The more popular the person is, the more drama that happens.

I seen alot of -QP's.
You gave Sox one & no one gave a rats crack about it.
You have to be on Asheera's lever for people to care .

That is why there is no problem with it.
Lucky for us there is only a few who are not praised like Asheera is.

Keep those -QP's coming & going

One benefit of the qp system is an indication of valuable posts.  Especially in the heroes forums this is useful.  I'm familiar with heroes games but suppose I want some in-depth information say on heroes 3 which I am less familiar with.  When I do a search qp posts that are more likely to contain that info are going to come back first.  Also it is easy to scan the table of contents [list of qp's] to get to important information more quickly.

I guess my posts are completely invalueable then huh?

So I'd simply suggest that the mods make up their mind and do what they deem is best for the site.
That's what happened at CH. I doubt you want that to happen here.

What happened in CH was a different story that cannot be compared with the situation here.

Mvass, I'm not underestimating anything - no matter what we do regarding the QP system, there's always someone who will be mad, backlash can't be avoided.

I won't end up giving 8 QP's to anyone, unless their posts are easily what I consider to be among the best I've read here. When I said that I give Qp's to the member - its usually the post that first catches my eye if there's something I like in it, I'll look at how many QP's the member has and decide if it's time to give them another.

Also, from time to time I will look up a member's profile to try to find posts to get them a QP if I see that their "status" doesn't reflect how I see them as a member. Should it happen that I notice someone who is always helpful etc doesn't have a QP yet, I will try to find a way to get them one.

And again, the opposite to that would be if I think a post is very good, but the member has been prone to spamming I'm more hesitant to get them any closer to a floodprotect-free HC existence.

Once I see that someone has a lot of QP's already though, I am much less likely to award them - members who are at that point are often ones that have already shown time and time again that they are a positive part of the community, so I don't seek to reward them to show some recognition of that - I'll only give them one if they knock one outta the park. If I were to QP every post that I enjoyed that was posted by a member that I liked, LichKing for example, would have a quality count in the hundreds lol

To sum up, there are a lot of things I will consider before I give a QP - all that I mentioned, plus response from members too. Sometimes I don't particularly find a post all that exciting, but if a lot of people respond to it and feel it deserves a QP, I'm always happy to oblige.

I'm sure many will think that its not a great way to handle it but its what works for me. The main flaw I see is that my schedule keeps me away too often, and I'm really spread too thin here to have the same time as I once did to look at QP's as a priority, there's simply too much else to do.

People tend to forget that qps are meant to be given to the top 2% of the posts. Many are good but there can be better.

No, I was talking about your suggestion - to remove QPs and then do everything by mod discretion. But choosing to remove floodprotect would be the equivalent of giving 8 QPs.

Apparently you say one thing, but really mean another. I'm not gonna bend over and take one of your retarded penalties like I have in the past. I'm not gonna be coerced into calming down. And I'm not gonna be nice.

I already tried to be nice and defend your penalty against Asheera even though it was the lulziest penalty I've ever seen. I gave your decision the benefit of the doubt even though it was far worse than the one Angelito gave me last spring. And then you can't even stick to your decision when people complain, like always.

Sure you have some suspicions of Asheera's behavior sending out backhanded insults. But I think we both know there's some favoritism going on here too. You judge everyone and think you know them like a book. Your job is to keep the peace and keep things clean. It's not to micromanage every ****ing relationship and aspect of HC even if you're judgements are correct. I don't come to HC to get judged by a group of moderators that think they are better than the members here. Maybe you guys are right some of the time. But that doesn't give you the right to assume your suspicions are fact. Are you guys going to point at banning Stiven as justification every time you make a questionable decision?

It's hard to believe you are just like Val, throwing around judgements, but you are. There's a reason I went off on him and quit mod back in 2007. And that's because I'm tired of being judged. Hope you enjoyed a taste of your own medicine. Just be glad I didn't give you the whole bottle.

Uh huh and you talking crap about MM at every turn is nice. And last I recall you had reached a compromise with Val and you had understood his point of view, did you suddenly decide that you disagree again? If you don't want others to judge you then do not give them the opportunity.

I will also add that Stiven deserved it.
He was warned about 48459594. He treated people like crap. It's been so many years that I cant even remember all the reasons.

I know I wrote them down years ago in some threads.
I like Stiven but he was warned more then 38494 times

Edit: I will just say it plainly. Stiven was a butthole without the swear lol.

Right RSF, you really are a victim...How many fake names is it now? How many lies about them?

And this whole MightyMage thing - would it make you feel better if I act really really surprised when you jump out and yell April Fool's?

I've been telling you on HCM over and over again to leave me out of it, that I don't believe the crap you're sending me. I've told you to give it up because I don't have time to play along.

Maybe I'm wrong, maybe your issue with MightyMage is real - and if so then I'm still justified in giving you a -QP for openly and constantly attacking and insulting a mod.

If I'm right, then I'm still justified - as much as you can never see it - there's a line between funny and too much. That last one you posted crossed it.

Either way, I just wish you'd stop.

I know I'm judging, that's all I know how to do - always watching, always judging, all the time. But I know the kind of person that you are under all the "jokes", I've spent time talking to you - and I just don't get all the acting out you do.

You'd probably be one of the all time most popular members here if you'd drop the baby games and be yourself...

Take that however you will, but seriously - I'm just tired of cleaning up after your "I'm bored so I'll make a mess at HC phases".

-QP shouldnt be allowed to give as some kind of "revenge" thing like angelito did to me. He has obviously some personal issues with me.

Plus -QP shouldnt be given for eternity, like "we are the moderators, we show no mercy". This is kind of childish.

QP are taken away (for given reasons of course), but -QP will stay forever (for no reason).

Xerfax has a point, I must admit. I think that Penalties indded could (and maybe should?) be reversed if the person has redeemed himelf/herself. Like Mvass for example, who is (kinda ) grown-up now, and really doesn't deserve those old penalties anymore. (I could also have mentionned Xarfax, but I know little about his case... and I'd rather not meddle myself with it... eventhough he has a point).

I also wish to state that RSF seriously needs to chill out. Personal issues with MM (whether true or not) shouldn't be outed that way. There's HCM for that.

Your words are kind, but those penalties were well-deserved. One was for a specific insulting post (I flamed Stiven without having any reason to do so beyond boredom) and another was for coming back to Let's Have War (still the best RP ever) after being banned from it. They weren't "general behavior" penalties. Besides, I have more than made up for my past penalties with QPs.

it's a dilemma actually. if the system is taken away, then people will complain, if we keep it, people will complain that they have beenmistreated. If we create a new system, people will complain about that. so, whatever happens, somebody will be unsatistfied. I agree with pan that we should let the mods discuss this in the HQ and then wait for their results. IMO.
