As a newbie it didn't hurt me to see those QPs gone. Even I'm not considering my Mod (Oblivion) the most QP-worthy thing ever, I tought that it would bring me +1 after it's finished and shared. But actually, It doesn't matter. I become more happy when someone says something positive about me or my effords than when I get +1 red star under my avatar.
Now don't get me wrong, I totally understand the true meaning of them as Val explained; to encourage people to "do good" and avoid bad behaviour (and also give some "hints" to newbies about old members). Unfortunately they ended up bringing more trouble. As I'm a fairly new member you might think that I haven't been here long enough to know everything involved to those QPs... you got that right. But it can be figured out by using common sense.
I could quote a phrase: "guns don't kill people, other people do"...

We are of the same mind. May take some getting used to for those familiar with the old system but hopefully it will be for the better.
Edit: I am actually curious how the posting behaviour will be affected in the near future. This is going to be interesting.

Wow, the QPs are gone.
It just looks weird to have yellow stars right under people's avvies.
Other than that, though, I'm not complaining.
Edit: Wait, my floodprotect is bigger now. ???

Who the hell made the decision? Will you look at the avatars? They look horrible without the red stars oO. And all the nice prefixes are gone.
This is kind of a freakin HUGE (humongous, gigantic, colossal, cosmic) change and it get's done just like that oO?!
Oh well ehm... yeah they brought more negativity than positive stuff so they're gone now... ehm what?
Jesus Christ the ammount of work people (yes not just me that's plural right here) have invested in getting this stuff (well not everytime but at the beginning I'm sure it was a booster) and boom it's gone O_O. Sure the work remains and is apreciated but STILL. Aw no man.... no way.
My biggest problem with this apart from the avatars now looking weird without the line of red stars and funny titles is this

I'm not going to imply that this is an April Fools joke simply because of the Teen Horror Syndrome.
Namely, the THS dictates that whenever something creepy's happening in the film, the victim says something along the lines of "Come on, you guys, this prank isn't funny anymore".
Then some rattling noise is heard.
Then it says "Guys?"
And then it gets slaughtered with something sharp and rusty.
Whenever, though, the intended victim is in the same situation but does not mention that it's a prank, it turns out to be some kind of a prank, in a neanderthal attempt to make the audience go "oh, phew, didn't see that coming".
So I'll just remain silent and keep walking on through the dark hallway for the time being.

I may be just a newbie, but I view this as a positive innovation. Why? Because now people will not contribute to HC in the hopes of getting a QP - but simply because they want to make HC a better place for all. This has been a long time coming - it is time to replace rewards with duty. Members have a commitment towards HC - you know the rules, and so do I. 
So go forth, HC. Build the Heroes Commune!
