[Tutorial] "Ripping" the models from towns by Editor

Today I'm going to teach you how to "rip" models from towns and use them in Editor. This tutorial can be useful for mapmakers I think.

1)Select any object in Object Panel. Note: the type of object should match the type of the object you want. For example I want to create static object with model of Mausoleum. So I picked the Academy Stuff object.

2)Place the selected object at the title you need. Note: it useful to mark needed title with another terrain.

3)We need to create new object through that object. To do that: Select object -> Go to the Object Properties panel (Bottom left) -> Select the line "Shared" -> Click "New" Button.

4)When you clicked "new" button you will see message appeared. Insert name of future object in that windom and click "OK". Note: Don't forget to click "Add Type" button to add a type before you clicked "OK". If you won't do that, your object can delete after reloading this map. For example I named my object Lich Tower.

5)When you clicked "OK" button click the "..." button in same line. Then you'll go to the objects list. Find your object in that list in the left side of window. User-made objects are in the end of the list. Also if you didn't click anywere after clicking "OK", list will automatically select new object.

6)When you found your object, select it.

7)When you selected object go to the right side of the window. You will see some lines. We need only "Effect" line. select this line and click "New" button. Then insert name and click "OK" as earlier. Don't forget to add type! Then click "..." button.

8)You will see new list. Go to the right side and select "Models" line. Then right mouse click and click "Add".

9)You will see new line appeared. Select it, click "New" and insert name as earlier. Don't forget to add type! Then click "...".

10)You will see new list appeared. Then go to the right side and click "..." button (not "New"!). Note: remember this window.

11)Then you will see the list of models. Pick the model you want. For example mine was Arenas/Town/mausoleum_u1r0. Select it and then keep clicking "OK" untill you return to the map.

12)And... What!? Nothing happened? WTF?.. Calm down please. Building appeared but it's in "high sky", like that:

13)We need to move it down to the groun. To do that return to the window I told to remember in step 10. Then find the x, y and z lines. Then insert a numbers here. For example I inserted -150/-150/-10. Also don't forget to change scale to 0.5 because original scale is too big. Then return to the map.

14)As you can see the model is closer but not in the position we want.

15)Return to that window and keep trying to insert right numbers, untill you get needed result. For example mine was -135/-150/-20.

Final result:

This way you can "rip" any in-game model. Good Luck!

Yeah, TSoD used same system, but I never seen that this system was explained.

I thought in fact I made a tutorial on this too, but effectively I've never made it.
Even if you used "my" (with great quotes) method, you made a good tutorial

The tutorial is great, I've used it to make some additions to my Arenas.

But seeing TSoD's Dwelling PAK, I'm missing something...
Could someone explain how do you create a new resource?

Example, I'd like to use the Slave Market model to create a new building to use in editor (and maybe adding some interaction to it...)

Any input on this?

Thanks

@Ciante: You can make object with any in-game model with my tutorial, but you can use it only at one map. If you want to use it permanently, you have to edit index.bin file.

Please, don't edit it to make MOD(s). If you do, any onewho wants will begin to edit and MOD the index.bin file, what can make serious bugs with others MODs (NCF, Dwellings) at long experience !
Indeed, the new index.bin does not complete at all the previous one : it replaces the old one !
Then try only to make that for your maps (in creating the resources with your map opened only), but not to create MODs :s So, the index.bin will be modified for you to edit your map and play on it, but only when this map is loaded.
