Umm, no, he always wanted to kill him.

Weaken him? Like he wasn't weak enough already? But as usual luck and the magical properties of his wand saved Potty from an early grave.

The bulgarian contestant saved Hermione and danced with her after that(or was the dance before that?).
I think Viktor Krum looked respectful.
I only watched the movies without reading the books though,so I can't comment on the books.

The french girl, Cedric and Victor Krum, they were all better than harry pothead. But, sorry, I forgot, he was the one chosen to be a pain in voldy's behind.

He wasn t weak already. He killed a basilisk, he could cast a patronus spell in the third year, he time travlled, destroyed horcuxes and faced profesor quinn (?). Voldemort knew that he s more than meets the eye and he was only 14. If you were voldemort, harry wouldve caused you more pain in the behind

He was weak. Like doom said, a real 12-year old would've urinated and cried in front of a giant snake. Don't get me started on what a 12 year old would really handle a sword. Heck I think even a grown man would have difficulty.

Don't give me all that courage mumbo jumbo, these books are glorified ridiculousness

Well that s the truth for any other book that has a story about a special protagonist with atrong values. Not to mention a magical side of thia world, located in england. Whatever you say is nonsense. Sorry for my mistakes im on the phone.

A 12-year old can hold his own against a giant snake and even use a heavy sword and properly stab him ? That's not magic, that's stupid.

He was a true griffindor. The sword magically appeared to hom from the talking hat. He had his mother s love as a shiels. He had a phoenix as his ally. He already had encountered voldemort before. He is the chosen one, the boy who lived. And also he didnt have the internet to waste his life on

I certainly did not refer to you. It was a joke ease the tension. Apparenly, a misunderstoood joke. Only the fact thatyou think the wand saved his behind in the 4 th book proves me that you either didnt read the books or if you did, you read them superficially

I am aware he used Expelliarmus. He was brave but still incredibly lucky.

Dj, I respect that you like Harry Potter, but please, do not defend the logical side of the story - there is none. Take a look at my earlier recaps of the books (starting at book 1 -1st page), and have a nice read (and maybe laugh, if you stop treating HP so seriously ) As a children's story this is a nice book, but if you try to make it some sort of great fantasy for adults... yeah. It sucks.

And I see that you're going a long road to explain Rowling's lack of thought... HP has the best fans ever. Rowling could write anything, even that Voldy drowned in his own toilet, and people would conjure explanations for that all day long over the internet in their attempt to prove that this is perfectly logical, well-written and amazing.

Fact is, that all the events in the book are badly thought up, and I think even as loyal fan as you can't defend stupid plot devices like the timechanger

Quote:
fake-eye: say harry! how would you like a cup of tea?
harry: err...professor...*raises shoulders*
fake-eye: i know you are just about to enter the maze and everybody is watching you enthusiastically but c'mon...i really want a cup of tea with you TONIGHT...it's a special night *winks his good eye*

This is actually ten times better than sending Potter into a maze and HOPING he would prevail. Not to mention that it doesn't really require Potter to enter any sort of tournament in the first place. Ask Potter to fetch something, or to see something "related to his parents" (Potter is a sucker for that) like a photo of his mommy (he would pick that up for sure without a second of thought), or hell, even cast that stupid Imperio spell on him. Or cast Fidelus over a shack, show Potter the location then paralyze him and carry him there - by Rowling's explanations, neither false-Moody nor Potter would be possible to find there, hence Moody would have all the time in the world to create a teleporter whenever Voldy was ready
There you go, I just made a more logical plot for 4th book, enjoy

i have one small point to make. having never read the books, or the interest to, but having seen a movie or two(my niece wanted to see them), i am led to understand that there are witches, and then they become wizards?

i was under the impression that witches and warlocks were one thing, and wizards were entirely another...

a little crossbreeding? too much rotten food eaten in one lifetime?(talking about the homeless woman who wrote this stuff)

Actually, Rowling uses the term witch to describe a female wizard (which is not very adequate, as witch is more of a pejorative term), and a warlock is simply an evil wizard. I do admit it sounds kinda stupid, yeah

well, according to the movie "warlock: armageddon" a witch is a female witch, and a warlock is a male witch.

off-topic:
that reminds me, that's one of the things i'm going to change for heroes3. witch and warlock heroes together in one faction, for one(by name, anyway. i'm redoing almost all of the heroes avatars, to fit).

The book 5 review should prove interesting... at least by that time Rowling figured she should get rid of the time turners.
