I dont have D&P or Platinum  But I saw some of the anime and I grew to like some of them
Generation 3 is AWESOME  - they weren't ugly at all but 4th generation was a bit sacky But You learn to love them a little

I did like only a few very specific gen 3 ones.
They look way too childish for my tastes.
The original 151 all look so realistic and awesome.
The next hundred had a few bad ones(read: way too cute).
And then it went fluffy department with 95% looking like they came out of the carebears...
not to even mention gen 4 with the gay parade...

Ah. *checks* You used the numbers in the stat block labeled 'Range' for level 100, correct? Then your numbers are off: the max for those is taken with a helpful Nature, which is impossible to have in every stat.
(Nature influences stat total; that's why I brought it up. Each Nature will help one stat and hurt another stat*, so for example an Adamant Natured Golem will have a boost to Attack but a nerfed Special Attack. But they ONLY positively affect one stat, so having the 'Max' listed on Bulbapedia for Attack and Special Defense on the same Pokemon is impossible.)
*Unless it's a neutral Nature, in which case it doesn't affect stats.

From what I can tell on Bulbapedia, 'yes, unless the Pokemon is level 100'. It's not something I've ever needed before, so I can't tell you more than that. :\

I think a large part of it is what one is raised with as well.
On my TV I saw episodes from the inidigo league and somewhat into the orange league, before they started rerunning, not getting new episodes. First many years later did I get to watch the johto journeys.
I thought when I bought gold&silver games that there were only 151 pokemons and that I'd be going on the same journey as Ash and I'd be able to fight the exact same way.
The game was completely different, but as it still sold me, partly because I thought of it to be something else and then I got used to it and all my planning were still 'real'.
When I realised I had gen II games and looked at the graphics of gen I games, I couldn't resist but find it too ugly to be worth buying it, even to get mewtwo and the 3 starters.
Then I later on saw the gen III games, one of the first informations being that I could not transfer between gen II and gen III kinda already made me abandon it, then realising all the new pokemons only made it worse, because for me, there were only those 250 (not counting celebi) and nothing more! I really didn't want to change lots and lots of tactics because they not only introduced new pokemons, but also new battle mechanics, making lots of my old tactics loose a lot of value.
I haven't looked at gen IV, but I guess the result would be the same, and I think those who were brought up with gen III games would also dislike gen IV for several reasons, and the same with gen IV -> gen V.
The same with the heroes of might and magic games, at least both for HoMM2 -> HoMM3 and HoMM3->HoMM4 in my experience.
Edit: What is this box tricks you guys are talking about? I didn't know you could improve stats after level 100, or is this some kind of post-gen II thing?
I still use to bring out my gameboy and my crystal game, taking down battle tower with any 3-team combination of my hitmonlee, aerodactyl, tyranitar, clefable, poliwrath, smeargle, crobat, heracross and scizor, all around level 95-100, yet I've never noticed any stats increase.

I'm a blue player myself. I still have my original save in it. From years back. I fear the day it's battery will run out. 
Then I got yellow. Then silver. Then gold. Then crystlal. Then ruby. Then emerald.
So yeah, I've played my share.

Put a Pokemon in the box storage system. The game doesn't hold the stats themselves in the box, just the stuff needed to calculate them, so if you've earned enough EVs on that Pokemon to gain more in a stat but haven't leveled up yet, you will gain the stat increase when you take it out again. (I think. As I said, never needed it before.)

I liked Aero blast and psychic a lot more than ancient power but whatever you feel like. That said, I'd probably change the double team to an elemental attack. So you can kill those nasty high def creatures like golems too.

The reason for ancient power is the 5% chance of 5 stat +1 stage, it's a huge bonus, but true against something like a golem the battle would be very long.
About double team, well without, I think, even with stats like Lugias, you can't heal through super effective stabbed rock slides. Anyway, that might be the next thing we're gonna calculate.

Yes, yes it really is.
Now about double team. Look at the rock slide damage against articuno. Lugia takes around half of that. Now if the double team can be buffed before facing the rock sliders, thunderists and the like yes it's a good thing but during those battles? A big risk. Worth taking if you could have an elemental attack that would knock those guys out in one turn or two?

I believe in estimating the value of an idea by opposing the biggest possible threat.
So it's Lugia versus Jolteon/Pikachu@Light Ball (Jolteon/Pikachu@Light Ball uses thunder/thunderbolt)
And it's Lugia versus Rhydon/Tyranitar (both uses rock slides)
Lugia is psychic/flying, so that leaves ghost, ice and dark, correct?
Ghost is physical damage, isn't it, and ghost types have low attack, so I suppose that's not worth looking at.
That leaves something like Houndoom/Tyranitar with Crunch and finally Blizzard/Ice Beam using Jynx.
The target is to find out what Lugias chances are of winning.
I'll try to the calcs myself in a moment, but now I have some tv I want to watch.
Edit: The tactic is: Using double team as long as there's no 1HKO, if the next attack of opponent is 1HKO then resting and using sleep talk for 2 rounds.

Am I to assume this is just using Thunder/Rock Slide or is this with any combination of four moves so long as one of those is included and it's Gen II allowed?

I didn't know magneton could evolve, that's new isn't it?
Well, I just assumed using thunder/rock slide/etc. would be the most dangerous option.
I'd like to ignore options such as encore+disable combinations, however, if you want, make whatever combination you want to!

Indeed. Magnezone is Generation IV-->evolves from Magneton by leveling up at Mount Coronet.
