I'd volunteer but my DS has no internet here. So I'm going to suggest this instead:

There's a glich you can use on the GTS--put the Pokemon you want to evolve by trade (in your case Haunter) up for offer for something impossible (Mespirit level 9 and under, f. ex), then search for some other Pokemon on the GTS and trade for that one. Take your Haunter off offer afterwards and it should evolve.

@Misty: I'd love to, except I can't use my wireless connection to connect to the GTS (might need one of those USB doohickeys. ).

Anyways, going to report on my HG progress.
FINALLY found an Eevee with Calm nature and sweet IVs. Now I need to figure what gives what EVs in HG and also farm the +4 to EVs for X stat items from the Battle Frontier...which leads me to the next topic:

The Battle Hall.

My Milotic, after getting pwnt by that Breloom is back up to 50 consecutive wins. Win #49 is against the Hall Matron and gives 20 BP, so it's all good.

I suppose I'm going to get the Hold Items that boost Sp.Def and HP first, so I can get this Eevee evolved into Vaporeon ASAP. Then, I'll have to figure out what movelist to give it.

Gen IV introduced 6 hold items that give you +4 EVs in a stat each time you win a battle. Makes it MUCH easier to EV train Pokémon. If I were to do it the Gen III way of the Macho Brace...ugh...done it before; pretty darn tedious.

(Even with the fact you can get 100 EVs in a stat by using 10 of the appropriate Vitamin.)

Status Update:

So I beat up Red, which gives you the ending screen. After that, you can go get a Kanto starter from Prof. Oak and a Hoenn Starter from Steven Stone (he's at Silph.Co in Saffron). He'll ask you which stone you prefer...the color you pick is the same as the type of the starter, so:

Green = Treecko
Blue = Mudkip
Red = Torchic

Normally, I would've picked Blue, but since I had already migrated a Swampert...I picked Treecko.

Goes without saying that I picked Squirtle though.

Hmm interesting.  Not sure how accurate or true it is, but Pokemon supposedly hold 5 of the top 20 spots of the greatest number of sales list (of all time).  Number 6, 10, 15, 18, and number 20 on that list. Console games that is.  Here is the entire list.

"Top 20 console games of all time
The 20 best-selling console/handheld games, not originally bundled with a console/handheld system. Cross-platform sales are not counted.

Wii Play (Wii – 27.38 million, Wii remote bundled with all copies)[68]
Nintendogs (DS – 23.26 million, all five versions combined)[68]
Wii Fit (Wii – 22.61 million)[68]
Mario Kart Wii (Wii – 22.55 million)[68]
New Super Mario Bros. (DS – 22.49 million)[68]
Pokémon Red, Blue, and Green (Game Boy – 20.08 million approximately: 10.23 million in Japan,[48] 9.85 million in US)[19]

Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen (GBA – 11.82 million)[78"

Wikipedia  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_video_games#Nintendo_DS note: although the list is found on the Nintendo DS site, it is not listing Just DS titles, but other consoles as well.

Not to mention that as a franchise it is second ONLY to Mario.  Poor Final Fantasy (My personal fave) is no. 6.

Mario (222 million)[176]
Pokémon (193 million)[177]
Tetris (125 million)[73]
The Sims (125 million)[178]
Need for Speed (100 million)[179]

Madden NFL (75 million)[181]
Sonic the Hedgehog (70 million)[182]

Eeww...Need for Speed beat FF? -_-

My faith in humanity has been shattered (not only because there have been many more FF games than NfS games).

EDIT: Also lol at Madden NFL beating Sonic.

It's not actually that suprising to be honest.  Roleplaying games historically have not been the biggest sellers (sorry Pokemon doesn't count as a roleplaying game in my mind..or not a traditional one at least).  Sure, they have been successful enough to remain around, but just barely.  It's a very Niche market.

Where as twitch reflexes (racing, etc) and action games tend to appeal to a broader base.  It is actually saying a LOT good about Final Fantasy that it is so high on the list.

Well, going after the director of the radio tower (just got the basement key) I don't get a lot of time to play so I have to make do .  Oh and I went with Jolteon as I know where I can get a growlithe if I need one (Plus the stone was easier to get lol).  Since one of the stronger foes I am going up against soon has a garados..lightning = GOOD.

With the exp share I can get it some levels until I can let it solo some.

Right now my line up is... (Think all are 33/34 besides jolteon)

Haunter
Onix
Garados (spelling, the shiny one)
Hoothoot
Jolteon
Umbreon

Ooo, sweet team. I think that was close to the part of the game where I said: "Screw trying to raise 6 Pokémon evenly", and only raised my starter and the Red Gyarados.

The decision didn't really bite me in my behind until the Elite Four, but some extra training compensated beautifully for that.

I always raise up my pokemon pretty evenly, even slowing down to 'grind' out exp if needed.  One reason is, EV's.  Another is, that way I have a more balanced team to go against people like the elite four.  Though I might catch up some specific pokemon for each.  .

It's not my fault that overleveling works against the Elite Four!
(And virtually anyone not called Red, and even there Heal Spam will save you. )

Besides, I had additional incentive. (Once you beat the Elite Four, the Pal Park opens up, allowing you to migrate Pokémon from the GBA Pokémon games to HG/SS).

Overleveling even works against Red..it's just really really difficult to do.  Since not many pokemon are that high level in the game, the exp slows to a crawl, and it is worse then Everquest grinding after a bit (if people think WoW grinding use to be bad, they never played EQ lol)

Yeah, and for what I usually use my trained Pokémon (the Battle Frontier), 50 is a good a level as any, and 50 is MUCH easier to get to than 100. :S

I only have a level 100 Swampert and a level 65 Feraligatr. Every other Pokémon is 50 or lower (this doesn't count any legendaries I may have caught along the way.)

And ironically, in this remake, Pikachu's probably more of a joke than before. It's the Kanto starters he has that you have to worry about.

Pffft. One good 100 level pokemon sweeps the floor with red.
On the other hand, 6 lever 50 pokemons have usually some problems if they aren't all top grade.

Finland is a small area but here RPGs are the second best selling genre bested only by racing games. Third are sports games.

1. Start game.
2. Select "Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings" at the Continue/New Game menu.
3. Select the blue button labled "Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings."
4. You should see three boxes labeled "Connection 1" "Connection 2" and "Connection 3". Select one of them (doesn't matter which).
5. Select the button labeled "Search for an Access Point."
6. The DS should search and bring up a list of local wireless access points. Otherwise it'll give you a message along the lines of 'no access points in range.'
7. Pick the one you want and it should try to connect and perform a connection test. Then you should be all set.

Note that some versions of the DS aren't compatible with some security networks, though IIRC you got a DSi, right? So you shouldn't have that problem.
