I think I'm going to start with Totodile, but I havn't really decided yet. Will be cool playing 2nd generation, the only one I havn't played.

I actually like all 3 starters from Gen II, which is a rarity for me (and a feat only rivaled by my love of the Gen I starters). 
I just went with Totodile because I love Water types.

Well, the grass one is too flowerish for me, and I'm not a huge fan of fire type, so totodile it is!

Hey Carcity, have a few that I need to link trade in order to evolve for my Pokedex..if you get a chance to connect let me know .
Oh and by the way. Where in the HECK do I find the cyndaquil line in Soul Silver (to battle so I can have them in the pokedex) oh AND where the heck is Rock Climb?!

@Misty: You need to go talk to Prof. Oak after you have all 8 Kanto Badges. Gary's Earth Badge (aka. Blue in the videogames) allows you to use Rock Climb outside of battle.
As for the Cyndaquil line...I have no clue either. :S

Yep. And don't worry, I thought the same too.
(Then I realized my Pokémon didn't have the ability to use Rock Climb out of battle anyways by keeping track of what HMs they COULD use, so I bargained I'd get it sooner or later.  )

Yeah, I am moving slow..maybe I havn't gotten to the Cyndaquill line yet also. Maybe the Final four AFTER you cleared everything will have them or something lol. On the plus side, have turned 85 'caught' into 97 'caught' without having to catch any other pokemon. Have evolved quite a few
Thinking of getting a GBA title to fill out some of my pokedex (and help with the "I need to trade these in order for them to evolve" bit)...any advice?

Ok..first we will have to exchange friend codes.
Here is how you find your friend code if you don't know.
To get your pal pad, walk into any pokemon center as long as you have your first badge and go to the basement. There a lady behind the counter will register you the item "Pal Pad."
To see your code you must open up your items and go all the way to the key items pocket. Scroll down till you find pal pad then click register or use. Then click "My Friend Code" then vola!
I hoped that helped. If not open up your Pokemon Platinum Instruction booklet that came with the game and see page 42. :]

If I remember rightly, that is also where we go to trade the pokemon at when we can. Which makes it kinda easy. However, I might be wrong..traded recently with Kareeah, so I should be able to find it quickly when I get a chance however.

It might actually be easier with a Rom. There is a lot of stuff you can download (like filling up your pokedex easy) from the internet that is much harder on the handhelds.
