Welllllll
Jynx was the obvious frontrunner for my team really. Psychic has advantages vs Fighting and Ghost and Ice is good vs Dragon. Because of my team's layout, she was the only pokémon on my team that resisted Ice, so using her vs Lorelei was an obvious choice as well.
Admittedly when i got to blue, i got lazy, but 1) I got jynx via trade, therefore she was the highest level pokémon in my party at level 58 (everyone else was... at least 5 levels behind. Dugtrio was level 38, by contrast, lol) I evolved my *then* dragonair via the rare candy i had left 2) she had that speed claw thingy equipped, which meant she would act first nearly all the time anyway.

I hope they redo the GTS for Gen VI. I'm really tired of looking to trade for something and having all the offerings of that species asking for 'Legendary Pokemon/Evolved Form of something at Level 9 or under.' And I've yet to find a way to access more than seven offers at a time to find the odd non-troll except by very tediously narrowing down the results and searching country by country. And then if I DO find someone making an offer, and I have that Pokemon, the game tells me that Pokemon has already been traded for. If it's already been traded for why is it coming up in the search results?!!

I've never used the GTS. But I do hear many people complain about such issues.
Just a question, how easy is it to trade with "friends" over the GTS, cause we could set up a little HC-trade hub or something of the like.

Exchanging Friend Codes would probably be easier. That's the next room over from the GTS IIRC.
EDIT:
Serebii says they're making a 3DS App to allow transfer between Gen V and Gen VI. I hope this is IN ADDITION to transfer in the games themselves, or I'm going to be quite annoyed.

Ha ha 1st Generation starters have Mega Evolutions. Told ya! Check them out on Serebii...
Plus you even get one of them additionally from Sycamore! That makes choosing a starter that much more interesting
What do you think: Venusaurs not that much diffrent, Charizard looks badass, altough his hands should've been bigger imo, and Blastoise is looking cool. Wonder if every starter will get a Mega Evolution.
Pokemon Bank is a nice idea (altough paid), but not interesting for me as I'm no "multi-player" player .
It seems that X and Y will be the game to get as they are throwing a lot of stuff into it (two starter only Pokemon anyone?).

That's it. I'm picking Chespin.
Mega-Blastoise is amazing, couple that with free Torchic => Chespin.

IMO Mega Blastoise looks okay. Mega Charizard is bland though. The artwork version looks better, but the 3D model is barely distinguishable from a normal Charizard. And the 3D model is what I'll be playing with... :\

I think nothing beats the Kanto starters as they are creating the nostalgia effect, but I'll wait till I see Kalos (evolved) starters to take my final pick. It's possible that I won't take Charizard (altough it's my favourite starter) as this time the Fire-type rooster looks rich. For instance in Black 2 there was no decent Water type (Marill? C'mon!) practically till late game (no Rod, they took away mid-game Tirtouga, no winter scenery etc). I think Mega Charizard's design is great, the only thing I dislike are those small hands that look rather comical, but the rest is still badass. And don't forget, it's impossible to create a "better" version of a fan-favourite Poke without some players saying 'meh'... (Mega Mewto could still look a tad "better" imo )

Well, Squirtle was always my fav gen1 starter, though I like Bulbasaur a lot more than I do Charmander. Though, given my preference of dualtypes and not knowing what the Kalos 3 will evolve in may, in theory, get me to switch the Chespin-Squirtle combo over to a Froakie-Bulbasaur combo. But that depends on the eventual evolutions. I never was that big a fan of the fire-starters though Torchic and Tepig are my favs of the bunch. Torchic cause all gen3 starters were awesome and Tepig cause it was the least bad of the gen5 starters.

Ha ha same here. For the first time I had no problem with choosing a starter As for gen 3 I preferred Treecko over Torchic because I really liked his evolved forms, but a bonus Chic' is a nice touch (that is If I'll be able to get it).

Doing Platinum now, right before the elite 4
aaaaaaaaaaaand i'm severely underleveled. My Empoleon is level 58 now (because it literally kills *anything* - it knows Surf, Flash Cannon, Ice Beam and Grass Knot, jsyk), but everyone else is lagging behind.
Luxray is level 50 (Thunderfang/Crunch/Light Screen/Scary Face), Wormadam (Bug Bite/Iron Head/Psychic/Attract) is level 48, which are both passable levels at this point.
But the other three.
Froslass (Ice Punch/Wake-up Slap/Protect/Shadow Ball) is level 44, Crobat (Fly/Poison Fang/Bite/Confuse Ray) is level 42 and poor Gabite (Earthquake/Flamethrower/Dragon Claw/Rock Slide) is lagging behind at level 36.
UGH, i HATE grinding but i'll have to do it, since empoleon, sadly, cannot beat the elite four by himself.

*checks* VS Seeker lets you re-challenge trainers if you're not already aware of that. (It's also nice for EV training. ) You can get an Exp. Share on Route 206 and...*research* Yep, if you get yourself a temp Pokemon with Compoundeyes and something with Thief or Covet you can go mug Chansey for their Lucky Eggs. Will that help?
I've never used Wormadam as part of my team before, how is she working out (besides being underleveled)?

i wanted wormadam because i never used a Bug type before, and bug/steel seemed like the best possible combo. I know Scizor exists, but lol @ trading with an emulator.
She is not that good of a sweeper, but she is a good staller with her attract. As long as your opponent doesn't know a fire move, she can last quite a while.
thx for the advice but i'll keep on grinding for now.

The new leaks look....interresting. Though I'm kinda dissapointed that the starters don't become dual types on their first evolution.
And on closer inspection, I am incredibly torn over the fossil pokemon. They both look and sound great.

They could have called it MewThree for starters
Honestly the Mega stuff looks kinda grotesque. I'd rather see them balance their damn game rather than pushing more and more useless stuff in.. how many pokemon are useful if you want to compete with other ppl? 30-40?

Sooo...
Chespin is a no-go after I've seen it's evolution. It's totally meh, if it's final form won't be any better I'm discarding him as a starter (if my prediction after looking on the evolved form is correct it's final form will look like a Sandslash-like armadillo Pokemon, so If they do this right I will give him a chance). Fennekin is going in the direction I assumed earlier (not a Vulpix like four-legged fox but a two feet human like fox, kinda like Lucario). The question is: if it will be a Fire/Psychic or Fire/Fighting (Psychic is more possible, because it was officially revealed that he knows Psyshock). Or just MAYBE: a Fire/Fairy (if his design may be taken as a hint)? Also, is Fennekins evolution having a broom for a tail!? Froakie has gained in my eyes, his design is going in a nice direction. And after Black 2 I think that a Water-type is a must have (hard to get out of water), especially when you have two starters to take
What the hell does "Fairy type is immune to Dragon" mean? No damage!? Aren't people at GameFreak exaggerating this balancing stuff a bit?
The Fossil Pokemon are interesting. The T-rex is my pick as I like his design more, though Diplo has an interesting ability that changes Normal type attacks into Ice. His a powerhouse if that's true. But T-rex's ability is also interesting for me, because I like to use those bite moves Wonder how their evolutions will look, as Fossil Pokemon almost always get one...
Garchomp's Mega is not a big change design-wise, though his one of my favorite Dragon Pokemon so it's nice that they gave him one.
The cat-like Pokemon are meh...
The Normal dog is soo Kalos-like (read: France). A Poodle or an Afghan Hound comes to mind. Wonder how it's customization mechanic will work (there are some illustrations, but how does it work in game I wonder)
Finally, both Mewto's evolutions are meh, but I'm glad I pre-ordered Pokemon Y, as I like the Y design a bit more...
