Ok.
@the Moderators

I was not wishing, only pointing out a flaw in the Expansions of HoMM V, however, if you wish to move the thread, you may.

@ Arcax

I do not hate dwarves, just believe the reptilian units are the true heir to the fortress

@ MatIII

The Lizardmen don't have to be the Dominant race, Gnolls also fit the bill.

@ Lucky_Dwarf
I like your gorgon chariot idea, but maybe basilisk chariot would be better?

well that depends if it stays the same way as they were in h3 but slightly larger it would be cool

gorgons would have been ok the only problem is theyre stubbornness and pride in h3

and i spotted that hydras are now on dungeons side.
also wyverns were stolen by stronghold

any ideas?

Crocodile, with upgrades of Cipactli (Life Drain) and Tiamat (summon Dragon Flies on death). You could also have several levels of Lizardman; hunter, warrior and priest/spellcaster. There's also no reason why the Wyvern has to stay with the Stronghold, they could easily replace it with the Roc/Thunderbird (as it had in H3) and think up an alternate upgrade.

Since Medusas were gorgons, and the dungeon lost medusas, maybe the medusas could go to the New and Improved fortress

You could also have some kind of primate

it works and i would like to keep it like it was in h3.
Being more primitive helps them settle in with fortress.

crocodile seems a bit to common. But i like the idea for Dragon flies.

We can always add swamp behemoths and make them resemble the ones in h3 but with allot more weeds hanging off.

Swamp behemoths and Medusas, Monkeys and damned Gnolls, yet my Crocodile idea is considered too 'common', I give up. This thing is looking less like a town than a random conglomerate of creatures that someone has decided 'there's a possibility that it might live in a jungle, so it fits'.

I guess what I was trying to ask was
what would the resurrection of the fortress have, what would it be called, and any other info that would be important.
My Version
T1: Gnoll-Gnoll Marauder/Gnoll Raider
T2: Lizardman-Lizard Archer/Lizardmman Humter
T3: Medusa-Medusa Queen/ Medusa Overseer
T4: Basilisk-Basilisk Chariot/ Basilisk Racer
T5: Jungle Ape-Great Ape/Enraged Ape
T6: Lizardman Cleric-Lizard Paladin/Lizardman Bishop
T7: Swamp Behemoth-Swamp Giant/Swamp Titan

Hero class: Beastmaster
Specialization: Camoflage

Ranged units are indicated by an

T1: Gnoll-Gnoll Marauder/Gnoll raider
T2: Lizardman-Lizard Elite/Treetop Hunter
T3: Serpent fly- Charcoal Fly / Dragon Fly
T4: Basilisk-Basilisk Chariot/ Basilisk Racer
T5: Medusa-Medusa Queen/ Medusa Overseer
T6: Lizardman Cleric-Lizard Paladin/Lizardman Bishop
T7: Swamp Behemoth-Swamp Giant/Swamp Titan

Some ideas on lizard bishop:

Swamp affinity- The Bisshop may cause any lizard on the field loose faith in they're masters causing them to loose 1 attack and defence per 5 lizardman bishops.
this will make fortress the worst enemy of dungeon seeing as two of theyre best units are lizards it will cause an almost instant win.

Gnoll Raider:

Quick on your feet: i have two ideas for this: the raiders gain +1 attack for every square they move 2. Gnolls get +5% to they're defense the higher tier the creature is (This would make them a pain to kill vs t7)

Gnoll Marauder:

Inner beast: Gnolls may charge the nearest enemy and loose all defense for double attack and no retaliation (i feel you need a downside to this ability for balance)

tree top hunter- same as tree top archer posted by disturbed gnu
Lizard man Elite- same as the lizard bow masters except ability is renamed Split arrow

Charcoal fly:

Explode- same as overseer
Fiery Swarm- same as blade dance/six headed attack

Dragon Fly

Fiery swarm- see above
Searing breath- enemy units that get hit get damage of half the number in the stack(100 fire flies 50 damage) last five actions

no ideas on the rest atm but this would be my list

inner beast could also bee special for fortress

No more garruk wildspeaker for you

http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=140205
Disturbed Gnu, I feel like you forgot the gnolls. By the way the name Garruk Wildspeaker isn't that original. Look at the link above

My version of Fortress:
Classes: Beast master(might) and witch(magic)(no differences from HOMM3)
my creature lineup is inspired by HOMM2:
tier 1: Gnoll
description: A little more offensive than other first tiers
=>(upgrades to) gnoll marauder
description: when this swings its weapon it hits so hard that it breaks the armor.
abilities: disrupting ray(lower armor) on attack

tier 2: lizard
description: this creature moves further than other shooters so it can run from slow creatures.
abilities: shooter

tier 3: serpent fly
description: this can too move far too. This makes it good for blocking archers
=> cobra fly
description: same as before but this creature's attack also poisons
abilities: poison on attack
=> dragon fly
description: this can use cancellation(removal of positive buffs) on attack too.
abilities: cancellation and poison on attack

tier 4: waspworth
description: A lot like the ones in HOMM4. They can't move far, They're shooters and inflicts weakness upon hit.
abilities: shooter, weakness on attack.

tier 5: Naga
description: The naga from heroes can easily look aztec. Creatures can't retaliate on their attacks.
abilities: no retaliation

tier 6: Basilisk
description: as we all know the gaze of a basilisk turns you to stone.
abilities: stone gaze(chance to turn victim into stone when it attacks)
=> greater(yes... i'm short on names) basilisk
description: this one has the regeneration ability, so it regenerates a number (maybe all) of hit points when its turn begins
abilities: stone gaze and regenration

tier 7: Hydra
description: The hydra has multiple heads so it attacks everyone around it. It doesn't have any legs(it's a snake with many heads) so it's a bit slow.
abilities: attacks all adjacent squares

sample of hero(es)
Verdish:
I don't really have any story about her... sorry
ability: poison brewer(whenever a creature(unless it's a cobra or dragon fly) in hero's  army attacks it has a chance to poison the target. The strength of the poison is determined by the level of Verdish)

tactics: Like in HOMM3 fortress focuses in defense. Additionally many creatures have the ability to weaken your foes, which makes a great combo. Hold out until poisons and other weakenings have teared down the enemy.

Where do you think i got the name from? I'm MTG fan.. I Love the game..

BTW, don't you think that your idea of the new fortress looks like the H3 swamp a little, just mixed with some H4 creatures?
But i never thought of waspworth's ;p They look ugly, but Nival can make them better than 3do

Just quickly, my idea of a swamp faction:

T1: Hunter -> Atlatl Hunter / Harpooner
Ranged, Ranged Penalty -> Ranged, No Melee Penalty / Ranged, Ranged Penalty, *Reduces Enemy Defence By 1/strike
*reduction is non-magical (not affected by Magical Immunity), but can be healed by Regeneration.

T2: Varanid -> Savage Varanid / Varanid Stalker
none -> Casts Poison / *Invisible When Still
*creature can only be targetted when a unit retaliates against a melee attack it has made.

T3: Testudine -> Tarasque / Ograbme
Takes 50% Normal Damage -> Takes 25% Normal Damage / Takes 50% Normal Damage, No Retaliation.

T4: Warrior -> Seasoned Warrior / Blessed Warrior
Enraged -> Enraged, Fearless / Enraged, Take 50% Magical Damage.

T5: Shaman -> Bloodshaman / Boneshaman
Spellcaster, *Pool Mana (3 points/creature) -> Spellcaster, Pool Mana (3 points/creature), **drains health to cast spells / Spellcaster, Pool Mana (3 points/creature), ***draws mana from corpses.
*creature can share spellpoints with the hero.
**kills top creature in stack to regain 1 sp/hp
***total spell points is calculated by [creatures numbers*creature level].

T6: Wyvern -> Gorynch / Peuchen
Large Creature, Flyer -> Large Creature, Flyer, *Three-Headed Attack / Large Creature, Flyer, **Has Petrifying Gaze.
*attacks up to three enemies at once, if there are fewer than three enemies, unoccupied strikes are dealt to target creature.
**unit targeted by primary attack is frozen in place as long as it isn't attacked (doesn't retaliate on first attack if it is) and the targeter doesn't move (death included) or attack.

T7: Mahamba -> Cipactli / Tiamat
Large Creature, *Fearsome Strike -> Large Creature, Fearsome Strike, Life Drain / Large Creature, Fearsome Strike, Summons Six Varanid On Death.
*creatures of a lower level than attacker don't retaliate.

I personally think that Dwarves and Dwarfkin belong in the Magic Based castle (Tower/order/academy), just where they were in HoMM IV, even though most of the castles were messed up there
