Life is so random!

At one point in our lives we are all surprised by an event that was very random.

One happened to me today.

I was in the backyard playing soccer with my sister when a little kid comes and asks me if i could help him with his homework. Weird right.  I helped him and then came here to tell about it.

what is the point of this thread?
Let people tell about a random thing that happened to them in their lives.

How it goes-

1. someone posts random thing that happened to them
2. someone coments and gives opininons
____________
So much has changed in my absence.

Mountain out of a molehill.  Let's say your normal day is going to work 9-5.  Instead you have a doctor's appointment and run into an old acquaintance and have lunch with him.  If your day hadn't deviated from its normal course that meeting wouldn't have happened.  Random and unexpected in the normal conversational usage.  Clear?

This event was certainly random.

I was working one night and was talking to one of the older workers there (older in work time, not age). I was pretty new to the job at the time, so I was just talking and trying to get to know the person. Anyway, I was fixing some of the aisle while talking and then this man in his 40's (I'd say) comes into the aisle and randomly tells us that in the past, he was in jail because he had supposedly killed someone but he hadn't done it. At the time he came, I was talking about what I think of Church at my school (which I had just finished). The older guy said something like "****god, he didn't help me when I was put into jail when I killed someone even though I didn't do it". He then left the aisle and me and the other worker were standing there thinking "what the ****?!".

Lol. There was a time when I was in detention and I was doing the writing of the rules like we had to when suddenly the teacher who was supervising detention in another room suddenly starts shouting really loudly. I heard some kids ssnowing behind me and then he started shouting again and then left the room and went home. The eachers were trying to find him and, to me, that was just totally random.

There were also other times when I was in the classroom with the same teacher who had me for admin. We were just quietly doing our work when suddenly the teacher just got this soft ball and threw it at random people. One time it kept landing near me so I just kept throwing it at random people. It was pretty funny and even the teacher was laughing.

Another time at school we were taking sa school photo because it was near the time my year 12 class was leaving school forever, so we were all taking pictures for the graduation and all that. Anyway, I was just standing around and some people got on a table. As soon as the picture was taken, the entire table collapsed underneath them. People were like "huh, what the hell?" while I was there in the background thinking 'what the hell?" but laughing.

Even though school was pretty crappy in terms of learning and everything, there were plenty of funny moments.

I once went to school (well, I did/do it many times), or well, I lived on the country then so I took the bus. We were starting late that day, but since I had to take tha bus I had to come early any way . So I got there 70.40 and was told that the lesson that was supposed to start 09.30 was canseled cause the teacher got ill. So I didn't have anything before lunch. First lesson 12.30. About 12.20 I went to the lesson and found a note on the door:
"12.30 Lesson canseled, due to treatment of ill child."
I was so god damned angry! I don't remember why the last lesson was canseled, but it was. And since I was the only country kid in my class I was more or less alone the whole day until I took the bus home and got home about five o clock (since it was a small school there was only bus a day). Then my computer broke... So after considering killing myself I decided to watch TV, something I rarely do. I watched a hals episode of "That 70's show" and made some coffee in the brake. When the water were about body temeratured the electrisity died, and 6 o clock in Sweden is dark in the fall. Well then, that really makes all my hobbys useless. So what do you do alone in the darkness when you're kinda depressed? Well you don't go to bed six o' clock. I can't really remember what I did, but I propably just waited it out.

EDIT: Oh! Good clean! Who ever did it!

Oh, I didn't notice this thread was in the OSM earlier, sorry. Good cleaning.

Hmm... something random.

Alright, there was this one time in school where one teacher had decided that she'd read a book to us. So she sat on the table and read and my class just became more and more bored.

Two of my friends started chatting not caring about the teacher at all, so guess what the teacher does?

She sighs, pulls out a bookmark and puts it in the book and then flings the book (which was pretty heavy) right into my friend's face who almost fell out of his chair

We just laughed our asses off, I guess she could've been sued or something... good thing he had some humour

I do not believe in random eventhough I am an atheist.

Everything has its reason while random has not and means that random does not exist,at least I think so.

Life is not random for everybody, for me it is monotone.Everyday is the same, everytime there is something to worry.

I think they mean a Monty Python-esque event in your life which is absurd or totally unexpected and is rather strange.

Here comes the best, most confusing and intriguing of all stories. It requires a bit of introduction first.

In Brazil we have an interesting afrobrazilian religion called Candomblé, and its lighter version, Umbanda. Those two are mostly based on divine and semi-divine entities which embody messengers on the physical world to deliver messages of wisdom, happiness or simply (not rarely) to mess around. Those entities, much like the old politheistic religions are normally "in charge" of a certain something. Like Iemanjá goddess of the sea, Oshun, goddess of rivers and waterfalls, and do on. One of the ways to communicate with those entities is through macumba, a ritual where the believers place several offers on crossroads (food, sider, cigarettes, among others). You see that quite commonly on the streets of Brazil. Problem is that they sometimes stay for quite long to rot...

The most exquisite entities of Candomblé are the Exus. Much like Hermes, those are the messengers of the gods to the physical world. Problem is that they are very human-like, doing much good but with the tendency to "force" their bodily messengers to drink heavily, smoke cigarretes and whatnot. The most bohemian, prakster of all exus is the so called Exu pilintra, depicted as a black man with a white tuxedo and a panama hat with a ribbon.

So! Once going to swim class we noticed a macumba lying on the crossroad of our house. Quite rich: food, beautiful recipients, candles... I mean, THE services. On top of the food there was the 5 inch doll of the allmighty exu pilintra, a cute thing it was, standing there with his white tuxedo and bohemian laugh. My mom quite skeptical always collected the recipients for home gardening. And this time was not diffent. But enchanted by the cute exu, she picked up the doll as well.

I remember the car managed around 5 minutes before overheating and stopping for good in the middle of the street.

Already late for swim class, work, and all the rest, mom started to despair. In that exact second, a rich friend of the family decided to take an alternative road and drove by with her luxurious car just to pick us up on our way to our businesses. Not a bad choffeur to swim class I must say!

In the end of the day, mom, although skeptical, decided to put Mr. Pilintra back on top of the macumba.

Part 2:
Two years later, one of mom's patients, a devote practicant of Candomblé, came to her praxis, and before even starting the consultation she went like:

- Oh, before I forget I have message for you. Its atypical, I give you that. But its from an entity called Exu pilintra. He said he likes you dearly, and said sorry for any inconvenience he may have caused.
....

In the scottish town where I worked at a small gorcery store last summer, there was this guy who'd always try some far-fetched scheme like asking me to round the total down a few pounds to get a nice and even number, or telling me that small change is pretty hard to come by and thus valuable and offering me a handful of pennies instead of the actual price total.
One time when I was off the job I decided to try my luck as well - I pulled out a 10zl note and asked if they accept foreign currencies. Apparently they don't.
