The definition of RPG
Does anybody of you know the encyclopedic definition of RPG?
I often ask people know what it is because I always look for new LM players. But whenever they don't know, they ask me. And I don't know what to say, I'm a bad teacher. Probably some of you have the same problem (except for looking for new LM players lol), so can anybody post a definition?

Knowing what LM is is of no importance to most members. And Slava, I know that. I meant a definition, not just telling me what do these three letters stand for. What are RolePlaying Games! Explain how do you play them etc. This might be helpful to more than just me.

Once upon a time
there was a guy, a founder of the GoL who was my friend and I asked him the same question. Here goes his answer:
RPGs (role-playing games) are those that start with weak and helpless characters who become superheroes at the end of the game. There are quests to complete, they give you experience and you can advance in levels. Of course, it bears the characteristics of a strategy game but the difference is....

Why did you put HOMMs in there? HOMMs are a strategy. Maybe 4 can also act like a RPG, but JOMM 1 - no way.

Well, the HoMM series is turn based strategy with a bit of RPG in it.
And I meant a real defintion. Something like the one Milena posted. BTW: Thanx!

I will object once more. Fallout Tactics is a tactics game like Jagged Alliance 2. Pool of Radiance is a dungeoncrawl/hack'n'slash.
