The thing is, that's different.
Swords are generic and an anachronism, mass killing with swords doesn't really occur anymore and it's a tool of war in the first place.
While you can certainly make that argument it's definitely a different case from satirizing a specific modern disease.

What's wrong with you people? Why is that tasteless? If anything it will at least make some WoW-nerds who don't even read the news aware of it 
What's with all this "hide the information" justified by "paranoia" or "respect"?

Talk about acting on unclassified info. As far as we know the virus is not even transmitted from Pig to Human lol. There is yet a pig to be found that actually has the virus. No idea where the name came from. Those poor pigs died in vain. I grief for the bacon pigs the world has lost .

I think along "Proper information instead of tabloid news".
Tabloid equals a sort of mass hysteria, and its overdone compared to what is actually is. While if it was done properly and not in tabloid format, the news would be information instead of fuel on the boonfire.

It's a little tasteless because they're making a joke at the expense of people who are dying.
Not that this doesn't happen all the time in our culture, but that doesn't mean it isn't a little tasteless.

Technically the spell (swine flu) was around since the beta of Wotlk used by the unliving swine. it was probably a reference to the 1971 swine flu outbreak.
People only notice it now because of the recent outbreak.

Make a joke of it all you want, but those are two different scenarios.
Generally World War Two games aim to be a realistic simulation of the actual war itself; there is no humor involved. It's like the difference between CoD 2, say, and a game that makes fun of let's say the sufferings of PoWs.
The WoW thing is a joke about a serious disease that has killed people. There's clearly a difference, no matter how you try to flippantly brush it off.
I'd prefer that this didn't devolve into an argument, could you please reign in the sarcasm?

I wish they'd make up their minds. This is getting a bit silly.
A ---> The virus does NOT (as far as I've seen) come from pigs.
B ---> It has a proper (albeit, mechanical sounding) name: AH1N1
C ---> It does NOT come from pigs.
D ---> It has not been discovered in pigs.
E ---> It does NOT COME FROM PIGS!
Sorry about that...but the Egypt massacre of the pigs was just too much...

Go back and read my post above yours. WoW didn't just get the swine flu, its been around since Wotlk entered beta.
now back to real business. Will this count as our normal periodical flu mutation or not?

I did not read the thread but the swine flu is scary.
Pretty sick too.
I think we all know what the mexicans did with the Pigs.
Then they brought it out here in the US's.
Me being half Mexican, I am pretty disgusted.
Very contagious, one cough.
Just be careful. Someone coughs, just run for cover!!!

to my info the spanish flew was worse than this...
and I think they were working on a shot against a pandemic but when it never came the government said "Screw it we wont give you anymore money!"
I bet they are regretting it now ...
