QUALIFYING GROUPS

PLAY-OFFS

FINAL DEADLINE - 3rd August 2009

Play your games until the designated deadline. In case of deadline breaks, or difficulties with finding opponents in play-offs, notice the judge of the tournament(me). Possible solutions are : deadline small extension, replacing opponent with first runner-up from the group, forfeiting opponent with free advance.

As you know, quarters are played in the strike-out system, the system is described in details in the rules topic. The higher ranked player in groups is the one who gets to strike-out first in the first match-up.

Larry Fanoga and Kispagat are the possible replacements in case of problems for any of the competitors in the quarters, hopefully there won't be any.

Arcax(Orcs - Kilghan) wins Elvin(Fortress - Helmar)
Arcax(Dungeon- Kythra) losses to Elvin(Haven - Irina)

Final result: 1-1

First game went horribly wrong. His hero scared my flamelords into the open and his units savagely beat me to death, turns out that 2 luck was deceptive. Must have charged his luck after all these games Apparently I needed more army than a high level. Soldier's luck didn't help, wasted some gold on mentor that did not pay off as well.

Second one he didn't buy any levels so his spellpower was lowish, however he was lucky enough to get the first charge with grims. I used a couple of zealot stacks for RM and kept out vindicators, what I had not considered was how useful they are for cleansing freeze effect. After a deep freeze on my champions they fell way back in atb and would be diminished by the time they acted again. But one cleansing made them play almost immediately and that saved my hide. The farmers of hate were also of great help, Irina's soldier's luck allowed me to get an assault attack on the hydras Needless to say that divine guidance and empathy with mass haste were crucial.

Arcax will be posting the replays.

Natalka (Necro - Deirde) wins Blizzard (Haven - Maeve)
Natalka (Stronghold - Gorshak) wins Blizzard (Dungeon - Lethos)
Final Result: 2-0

Natalka may have replays. I am immensely discouraged; I can't believe I lost (badly) with dark magic+ lethos against stronghold.

First game with his build it was obvious that necro will win but we spent 3 turns casting mass slow and mass haste while paladins were torpored.

Second game - true !

Thx for the games

Natalka is one of the most dangerous players here, should have started with a more accesible opponent

We played our games with Blizzard just few minutes ago, here are the results:

1. Vokial (Stronghold - Garuna) losses Blizzard (Dungeon - Yrwanna)
2. Vokial (Fortress - Brand) wins Blizzard (Stronghold - Kilghan)

Final result: 1-1

In the first game the dark magic did it's job fine and Blizzard won the battle very decisive, I don't have replay of that one, but if Blizzard has, he'll post

In the second battle the roles changed, sincce I won decisive thanks to the dwarven power of runes, etc. I think I scared him a bit after I took out the executioners

Download replay here.

Blizzard said that he is going to bed and he will report tomorrow.

Very nice one Vokial, even though Blizzard made a major mistake, and luck was your mate all game long

This struggle between orcs and dwarfs is usually in orcs favor, so winning it deserves double congrats

haha... you guys are soo funny...

ANyways... if there is anyone on a waiting list for this tourny.. please feel free to give my spot to them... after playing the Arena map for the first time.. I was less then impressed.. I was under the impression that it was gonna simulate a real final battle... but there isnt enough experience and levels to completely build your hero lol. I had 2 completely empty skill slots and most stats were still single digits. And need some random artifacts laying around.... Just not my cup of tea.  So thought it was only fair to open up a slot to someone who actually enjoys such battles.

Thanks for the oppurtunity tho.. and kudos on all your hard work on putting this together Tower....

You fleeing the battlefield like that is unimpressive.. Disappointing even. To you heroes is all about epic maps and epic armies isn't it. 20 levels are more than enough to make the choices you want so this should not be an issue either. Get back here!

hmm... I guess I can suffer thru it.. just isnt as fun as I thought it could be...

So what is the rational for limiting the levels to only level 15.  Should be a base level of 20 and able to buy 5 more if ya want..

I just did a practice and was Fortress.. and had no Light magic. By the time I took defense and enlightment and expert runes.. that left only 1 skill more I could take..  Just think that with this current setup.. it doesnt show players battle skills.. it only shows who gets the luckiest with skill level ups.  But Jinxers outlook is always wrong haha...

Kinda like watching a National Title fight.. only you tie the right arm of the champ behind his back.. then when you beat him.. should people be impressed?  When players are so limited on what they are given to there hero build.. doesnt show true fighting skill..  If one fighter had both hands cause he got lucky and other one has only 1 hand.. IMO the arena should focus more on the battle tactics and skills of the players then the building part.. cause with such limited exp and levels.. they dont really have any control its outta there hands...

I guess I will see ya on the field Elvin...

No no you have missed something You can visit the leveling location again but you pay for each level up thereafter. I too prefer higher levels without being careful with allocation between armies, levels and artifacts but it's a new challenge after all. At worst the experienced ones will kick my butt

Welcome back.

When the heroes are lower level the battle depends on the tactics skill of the players. Moreover Jinxer don`t take all perks u will take in a full game just select the most important and u will have enough free slots for skills and perks. U can`t have your cake and eat it.

Reporting session with Elvin.

1st victory is his. It was Helmar (Fortress) versus Nebiros (Inferno)

This game was quite close, with Helmar having few mana after the drain. He only casted mass endurance + the RM bonus on all (!!) units.
I could take advantage with the obstacles, and my spells (mass slow, confusion + weakness strike) ; but a vampirism that was disabled by captation cost me a precious spell that I could use otherwise.
Plus, Elvin had a necklace of bloody claw, so his damage were quite tough...

Enjoyable battle anyway.

2nd victory was mine, as you may guess... I had Inferno once more (Alastor) versus Haven (Klaus).

Elvin used much of training so that he could have 30 paladins or so ; but I managed to block them with my Horses... For the rest, I had both level 3 mass spells, so his army was quickly considerably weakened.
Also, it was my turn to have that bloody necklace.

Typhys 1  -  1 Elvin

Rune of charge helped too.. About the haven match I did not count of Alastor's caster draining so my two zealot stacks proved useless. Guess I should have gone for two paladin stacks to keep my crossbowmen shooting, I still have a lot to learn about haven I had that pendant of conflux for mana but there was not much use, his familiars and grunts were crazy. Mass spells I only had RM and could not get master of abjuration for endurance.

Replays.

Well played
