Thanks for making my day booboo Always need a good laugh in the morning

- it's too gimmicky (lots of useless motion sensor controls for nothing, when you could use a simple traditional controler)

Actually that completely debatable. Its a completel gimmick when randomly bashing 'button' is replaced by randomly shaking controller. However when its used for an FPS aiming its the opposite, it just works.
I think Wiisports is a exelent game to debate weither the consoll is gimmick or not, since its mostly about the Wiimote.
I do however agree there could have been more games for it.

Quote:
-_- they are using this motion gimmick to make people ignore the fact that it's actual power does not even match the power of a Ps2 console, which in my opinion is far better

If your speaking power as in hardware wise, then its a shame. And its a good laugh for me
PS1 was the underdog in its generation, so was the PS2. The main reason the PS2 was a giantic succes was that it included a DVD player.
PS3 is maybe the overdog(hardware wise) of its generation, similar to what N64 was in its generation.

You mean mouse and keyboard? And "real gaming experience" is so subjective thats its a pain, there is even a generee with called First Person Shooter where it comes completely medicore games all the time.

Death: we can always curse the peasants for that one ay?

death : console are more userfriendly. there are people who don't even dare touching a PC because they fear they'll do something wrong (well, usually they are afraid of consoles too )

about graphics? what's the more important? which console is the most powerful? or how the developpers use that power?

about the PS2, it has been said about several games that they were pushing its limits, yet several months later you had another game pushing it even further while everyone thought the limits had already been reached.

maybe the dreamcast is more powerful than the PS2, yet I'm almost sure the PS2 has the most beautiful games.

The biggest pro for consoles in my book is that I don't have to worry about: system requirements, optimizing settings, hard drive space, installation times, downloading patches, major bugs, and etc.  You pop in the game, and it works every time.  Plus the fact that I can easily play the game on my enormous television screen is also attractive.

Your opinion is too biased for me to influence you in a positive way... First of all accept the fact that peoples tastes often differ so don't jump around and say that the other consoles suck because you're incredibly wrong...
I have a very bad idea about the Wii, and before you start flaming me, I must tell you I've played more than enough... so let me start with the minuses:

- it's too gimmicky (lots of useless motion sensor controls for nothing, when you could use a simple traditional controler)
- no games (the Wii has 10-15 great games max. while the other two next gen consoles have a LOOOT more)
-_- they are using this motion gimmick to make people ignore the fact that it's actual power does not even match the power of a Ps2 console, which in my opinion is far better (known to have the biggest/best library of games to date, and still going)

Next, you're on the edge of starting a flame war between consoles which is a "no-no" on a forum so try to bring explanations to the table. I admit that I'm a Sony fanboy because till now they haven't let me down, since I love the jRPG genre... Don't misunderstand, there is more to it that graphics since I'm everything but a graphic-snow, and I love sprites to rendered 3d models but you can't deny the fact that the ps3/360 are better in the new-generation long run. Don't give me sales charts since I already said ppl were fooled by the gimmicks, and it's more for casual gamers... Hardcore ones always prefer classic controllers and real gaming experiences..

All you said there is telling me that you are at least 30! That opinion is old, and does not quite match today! (I don't know what i'm talking about, but i think you're wrong!)
Peoples taste is difrent yes! But that doesn't have anything to do with the console! You can prefer a controller, but that is not a good argument for hating wii.. You can hate the wii for its games and the power..

Too gimmicky? What games did you play? I mean, read about a game before bying! Bad controls equals bad score!
Yes the wii doens't have that many games yet! But there is much more than 15 good games. But that is a matter of taste! (People can have difrent tastes in games + it's a good argument.)
The third is true! The power of the wii is bottom-line, but still! The remote, nunchuck, board, gun and guitar is still lifting it above ps2! (I myself prefer PS3 over everything)

And i'm not starting a flame war between consoles! You are! This thread was about wii board! Nothing more, nothing less.

(Man, its hard to discuss on english! I'm usually god at it.. Do alot of time discussing averything! www.arto.dk (Actually better than facebook when it comes to groups, fan clubs and discutions)
-- And that last comment makes you think i start a flame war between web sites.. No, no and no!

Quote:

In my opinion graphics is fifty percent of a game! That is a matter of taste again, but i loove graphics!
Now some show off!
I have plugged my PS3 into my dads TV (52" flatscreen Full HD panasonic with 0,002 or something like that in reflex/reaction/respond-time?..) And together with a home cinema sounds system from HI-FI klubben.. That is where the graphics and the sound is the way to go! Incredibly beatufull and awesome sounds! GTA IV and Assassins Creed was a fantastic experience..

And i must say, the wii fit board is just waayy better than stupid Xbox's and PS's.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm???

And I disagree with TheDeath. I agree with what Corribus posted above, the fact that you don't have to worry about system specifications, no major bugs (there are still bugs in some games mind you) and so on...

nd if you want my opinion about the Wii Fit then I think it's total garbage, just like the Wii itself is.

the wii  certainly needs to improve its use of the capabilities, like I said, not even 25% of my punches registered in the boxing game.

True! That is proven many times on the ps2 and the xbox! Well every console and computer have games that doesn't use all the power.

What did you expect? The wii sports is free and boring.. Resident Evil 4 is one of the biggest succes's on the wii, and i agree with that..

I was going to say this.

and the qii is gimmicky because it isn't geared towards hardcore gamers. its doing so well because instead of fighting over the same players its expanding its playerbase.

My whole rant was about this concept. A PC is an open-ended platform. If your video card doesn't support that, simply replace it! See? Problem solved.

Not so in consoles.

And whoever says consoles are more powerful is making a fool of himself.

Mind you, you CAN ignore many things about PCs as well but you won't use them any better than a console. All that consoles do is that, should you WANT to not ignore them, they stop you from doing anything -- i.e it's not possible to expand it even if you wanted to.

This is a case of "I can do X with this thing so I MUST do it. Then I find out that X is hard to do, so this goes as an argument against this thing. Meanwhile, Y doesn't allow me to do X even if I wanted to, so it's better!" which makes no sense logically speaking

The reason you should worry about system requirements is that PCs can be updated easily and it means they have better processing power

My video card supports it.  But why would I want some big bulky computer in my living room?  And why would I want to pay 400 dollars for a new video card?  Yeah, computers can be upgraded, but they're also money pits.

I didn't say that.

If a game is sold for PC, I never know how it's going to run until I buy it.  And once I buy it, I have to fiddle with video settings, sound setting, memory settings, installation settings, blah blah blah until I get it to run just so.  Then I have to update it, install patches, install updates, register online, blah blah blah.
I usually don't plan on playing a PC game the day I go to install it.  On a console, I pop the disc in and I play.

Don't get me wrong - I like PC games as well.  But consoles have definite advantages.

Because you'll use it for other things as well. However there are also "multimedia" computer cases (microATX motherboards for example) that fit better if space is really an issue.

Quote:

Let me guess, you have a console?
That's the source of the pit and why you can't afford a video card (which is cheaper right? 400 dollars is too much also, with that you get like a super high-end one that is 2 to 3 times more powerful than the one on a console, at least here).

Quote:
I didn't say that.
Obviously I wasn't talking about you in this respect. (in fact the rest of my post wasn't).

Why are patches a "bad" thing?
You can ignore them, you don't get them in consoles either.
See, this is exactly one of those cases that "I have ability X in PCs so I have to use it! If it's hard to use, I will blame them, even though consoles don't even have it."

How much sense does it make? You can ignore it if you want the same abilities as a console. It gives you more power and choices, doesn't mean you have to use it, if it annoys you. But the possibility is there.

Many PC games (I'd wager, most) are damn near unplayable without installing patches.  It's gotten to the point that software companies know they can always issue a patch after release, so games are released prematurely to meet artificial deadlines set by marketing departments, with the knowledge that they can just patch buggy games later on.  Consoles don't have that luxury, and so games are for the most part bug-free when they're released.

Patches don't have to be a bad thing, but they are because they're abused.

Anyway, this is well beyond the scope of the thread.  I have a PC and a console.  I like both, for different types of games.  You'll just have to live with that.

Your argument did not become said in vane. I have because of you opened my mind yet again to the wii... however, I would think for business purposes, they would include a 100% game free because thats the one most people will develop their opinions on the system from.

In any case, thanks to you, I open my mind to the system again
