Heroes tote school by Samiekl

I don't play anymore, but i can help new people to grasp the basics of hit-and-running, how to build only one creature-dwelling and still win a game. Please use this thread for any new question you may have in regards of deceitful tactics.

Hit-and-running is the tactics of the strong. And it's good to use it only if you have the skills and guts to do so. Otherwise it's lame.

Now seriously, Iīm not that familiar with Hit nī Run, so if you will share some of your knowledge and tactics, I will be grateful.

Well, it's pretty straight-forward. Find an opponent who is not a pussy (browse this forum for people to avoid...you'll find references). Then attack his opponent multiple times with few army. Cast/ fire ballista once, then retreat. Do this multiple times till his army is decimated then attack him with full force. Pussies can't counter it so they whine, that's why it's better to avoid them. Skilled players will smash you to pieces.

I see, so for example efficient Hit nī Run would be if I took secondary (letīs say Iīm Dungeon, so my secondary would be lvl 5 Sinitar, and my opponent has only one power hero, like Haggash) and try to locate and attack opponents main army? I will equip Sinitar with 7 Minos/Stalkers, cast Implosion on Centaurs and than immediately run, rebuy hero in the city and repeat until there are no Centaurs left? Does "mentoring suicide Armageddon secondary" count as Hit nī Run?

In that case Hit nīRun has its uses only if you have some Destructive caster (or Dark caster, Frenzy or CotN could do some damage too)? So should I aim for Mentoring, pick every Wizard/Warlock/Warlord I will see in tavern and harass my opponent through whole game?

I can imagine Destructive and Dark quite well, but Ballista requires fairly high level (Expert Machines, Ballista, optionally Flaming Arrows) and attack/knowledge. That would require Hit nīRun with main hero, which would be risky - or there is another way? Which spells from Summoning branch are viable for this strategy? Phoenix?

Well with powercreeping you can get high level in no time, this shouldn't be an issue. Question, wouldn't hit&running be more fun against those who complain?

All this anti-hit'n'run fuss, have made actually NOone to ever-never use this tactic.. i mean even if want to, they afraid of the 'social critisism' about it

Like nowdays evryone has become gay-friendly, cause is the 'new social law', and you know where this will lead>>>

>>in 2years from now

EVryone will hit;n;run merciless and laugh hahahaaha about it, and gay ppl will be stoned* in public

What are the counters for hit'n'running opponent ? I think the only viable option is to have Mentored secondary and then it will be a fight between them to prevent losses in your main army.

Shackles, anyone? Seriously, Insa raised a good point. If you're defeated by hnr on a map where shackles are present in an acceptable way, you're playing poorly.

That being said, imo mentored kamikazes are plain abusive and shouldn't be used. However, if you want to hnr me with main or secondaries, which weren't lvl-upd by mentoring that's fine, I accept the challenge

I also think that some ppl underestimate the surprising element of shackles, it won me a good amount of games, even where hnr were nonexistent.

I'm sure you can "safe" use hit/run and no one can call you gay

I depends on the map. I usually play Academy these days, and letīs say I will try Former Friends - main hero gathers troops from secondary, aims for Ore Mine - Sawmill - Crypt - Goldmine - Gems, week 2 takes reinforcements and charges into center of the map to pick up artifacts. I canīt really count with serious power-creeping with secondary when main needs most of troops to rush for artifacts/mines. And Mentoring is easiest way for Academy anyway. On most maps I can start to creep efficiently with secondary on second half of week 2/start of week 3, and Mentoring proved to have upper hand most of the time so far.

I gave stupid example, my bad. Heritage of Deleb is afaik TOH map (or isnīt, dunno) and I have same "problem" there. As you see, I like smaller maps that take only few hours to finish on multiplayer and I only play with my friends, so I havenīt played all TOH maps yet. Just one more curious question, do you consider Mysticīs Vale as joke map too?
