It is supposed to present Godzilla as a force of nature, that alone is a good start. The trailer was really well done.

Cloverfield.. I might have liked if not for a couple of things. One, the moronic guy behind the camera and two, the constant camera shaking. Both annoyed me quite a lot.

I won't like it unless Godzilla is summoned by a teen boy and his gang of schoolmates via a space-bracelet to fight the evil kaijun invaders.

Just kidding that looks awesome and the way it should be.

Also I really liked Cloverfield.

Yeah I thought Cloverfield was really good. I didn't mind the bumpy camera.

They're allowed to make the entire movie intense and serious, but I wouldn't mind if like, halfway through the movie, some short Japanese businessman points and goes "RUN! IT'S GAW-ZILLA!!!"

... and then the movie just goes back to being serious.

Just watched Avengers which has 8/10 on IMDB. Really? This is the most overrated super hero movie ever. Deadpan humor, non-interesting villain, the huge stretch of time they spent on the airship doing nothing made me fall asleep, little depth to the plot and cringeworthy dialogue ("How do you know the Avengers are going to protect us?" "Because we need protection." END OF SCENE. wtf). What's the appeal?

5/10

Watched Full Metal Jacket lately.

A good film. Especially the first half of the film. Gotta love that drill sergeant. The dude who played it, also is the host of "lock'n'load" military show. which is in my opinion to much on the one side, and pretty lame, but I guess it's aimed at a white trash audience.

i am a fan of Lee Ermey. his best work, in my opinion, is from FMJ, and the 2 newer "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" series of movies.

the newest one, though, was complete and absolute ****. ****ing idiotic trying to direct the protagonist as a "cool guy" for ****ing teens. someone should get tossed in one of those industrial slaughterhouse meat grinders, for that. like the one shown that ate the "bad guy" sheriff at the end of that god-awful movie.

Just watched Serenity, and idk, the plot seemed ok enough but there was something about the film, that from the first moment rubbed me the right way, made me feel warm.

"Serenity" is one of those strange movies which get twice better score in IMDB that I'd give them. The aura of a low-budget 80s sci-fi is so strong about it that it can easily bring you back in the times of the video tapes when you rarely had any idea how good one film is before you rent it.

Then again, I agree with the IMDB scores in no more than 50% of the cases.

Serenity is the "final episode" of the canceled out tv show Firefly.  It was one of those shows that got canceled despite being really good and people always wished for a closing episode. It really gets better if you watch the show first, btw.

No Blade runner (1982)?

2001 was a great sci-fi (esp for it's time).

I also have Blade Runner Final cut, it's improved quality and error corrections made it a complete movie now. My all-time favorite sci-fi.

My top favorite movies:

1. Raiders of the lost ark
2. Blade runner
3. Angel Heart
4. 2001: A Space Oddyssey
5. Mad Max 3: beyond thunderdome
6. Batman begins
7. The big Lebowski

So after a long time I was actually viewing a movie in a bloody cinema for a change.

And a damn good movie that was.

Redirected/For Lithuania is a Guy Ritchie movies meet the Hangover style black comedy starring Vinnie the snowing Jones himself. If this movie is showed at your country, drop everything and go watch it now. If not, fly here and watch it.

Well congratulations on the job front, Ghosty.  And (I know I will regret asking this) what will you be doing?  Something to do with Spring perhaps?  28 days?  28 Days Later?  Loved the movie.  Are you going to be a zombie??

Too bad there probably isn't going to be a 28 Months later coming out to follow up the first two.

The director himself said he's annoyed with zombie movies because of all the fanboys that complain about various things, and because of how overused the genre is becoming.

I mean, my philosophy has always been: fanboys can take their idyllic conceptions of what is and isn't supposed to be and blow it out their affection-starved homely ass. You are a type of artist broseph; just do whatever you want. Who cares if some people whine about zombies that run or that spread their disease in a matter of seconds? The movies were successful weren't they? The returns speak for themselves: 28 days and 28 weeks later were cool zombie movies.

Plus I don't know if it's all that overused. If you take every independent and low-budget film that was made about zombies, then yes, there are a ton of them floating around out there; a concentrated search on Netflix will reveal a small pile of them clumped together with their mediocre 2.5 out of 5 star ratings. Most of us will never watch them though because they're poorly made. When it comes to actual silver bullion-grade zombie movies, there's only a small handful of them. Maybe several years from now once The Walking Dead series rave cools down, they'll be ready for a 3rd one.
