Went to see Logan yesterday. I'm certainly not a comics books or comics movie fan but even though this movie is based on a comics, it has nothing to do with the popcorn CGI pollution which such movies typically are. Admittedly it was a bit overdone here and there but the acting was very good and the story was delivered nicely. Nothing which will be remembered after a few years anyway but yeah, go see it, it's worth it.

Agree with this one. One thing about CGI: Both X24 and Logan were played by Hugh Jackman (no, that's no spoiler). I admit that I was a bit surprised about how graphic the violence was displayed and the 16+ label is definately warranted.

I saw Get Out and Life this week.

Both really good movies!

Get Out took me by surprise. It had imo two major plottwist and none were as I thought. The theme with racism is pretty on point I believe, but I think the debate in the media overshadows the fact that this is just a great thriller. It is creepy, a true mystery, even funny (like really funny) and overall a great movie!

Life is a great blockbuster horror-sci-fi movie. People compare it to Alien and Gravity. I don't care to me it stands out fine on its own. Really entertaining. It had me on the edge of the scene. The tight corridors and some great acting really made it a treat to watch.

I highly recommend both movies.

I was going to see Life but it had good instead of awesome reviews, so I didn't.

That is all.

So, I've seen Hidden Figures, I have a soft spot for the 60's, that was a personal plus for me, the subject was interesting, the period was recreated well in terms of visual detail, acting was fine and the film certainly didnt bore me. However, the political message was sometimes way too blatant and it was just poking in my eyeballs. You understand that in the first minutes of the movie, when one of the characters go "this and this happening in Virginia, 1961, it's a miracle!" I mean, who would talk like that, who writes this stuff? Mmm, I was feeling a little sleepy but this coffee turned out real strong in 2017, let's be on our way.

Havent seen it yet but i wanted to. Sometimes movies go too far in assuming ignorance from the audience.

I watched recently the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them, Resident Evil Final Chapter and Split, and I was disappointed in all of them I expected Split to be better because of the praise it has gotten, but I was midway through a bit bored. However it was the best of these three, the acting is excellent and captivating, the surrounding is haunting and you are not sure what to expect. a 7/10

Resident Evil was on the level that I expected though haha, maybe it was the best in that sense I knew it was crappy but any movie with Milla Jojovitch as the lead is is still fun. 4/10

Fantastic Beasts was just annoying, I like magic to have some rules or nothing seems to make sense. At first they can teleport anywhere and naturally at some point they seem to forget they can do that. Maybe I don't know the lore or something but I prefer magic that has a logic to it how it works... or doesn't work. It is not a terrible movie, it looks gorgeous at least. But a let down for me. 5/10

I dont think they utilize magic logically in any of the Harry Potter movies. It's mostly used either to fascinate or to advance the plot.

Like in the early Harry Potter films they spent time showing the moving paintings and pictures, which was interesting for an audience in the early 2000s but in 2017 doesn't really mean anything.

I think what he's referring to is not necessarily a strict utilitarianism but rather consistency in terms of making sense.

You know, like how Lucas made R2 D2 fly in the prequels only out of that shallow "bigger, better, faster" mentality but that caused a lot of scenes in the originals to be redundant: Why didn't R2 simply fly back then?

The animating pictures of Harry Potter were not like that, they were just visual salt and pepper.

What artu said was my point, without consistency it is difficult to know for example if the people in question are in danger or not. An action sequence without that is pointless and dull. Which reminds me I also just rewatched the Captain America : Civil War and I had forgot how well they do the action in that movie. It is sooo gooood. 2/3 of the movie is just bluntly said "perfect" imho.

Yeah I get it. IMO the early Harry Potter did specifically spend time showing off some of the new things film could do though. It's by far not the most guilty of this. The Star Wars prequels might be the most guilty ever among high profile movies at the turn of the millenium.

you know what i don't understand? why did that dumbass lucas have to add snow to the original star wars movies? the "look what we can do with computers now" cgi was so AWFUL in the remakes(?, or just blu-ray?).

it sucks, that i can't find a decend download of the originals. OR of the lotr trilogy, ffs. the website i was getting my movies on(ANOTHER ONE) got ate by the feds. those snows follow me everywhere online. they have deleted every single goddamn 90's-and-older cartoons i watch on youtube, too. every time i try to watch something online, the snow-ass feds always gotta snow with my amusement. sometimes the only reason i think they don't come kicking my door in, is because they use me as a mole to find every last free amusement on the internet, just so they can shut it down and snow in everyone's punch bowl. i swear to god, i'm inadvertently working for those pricks, and i'm not even getting PAID for it.

Lucas is mentally retarded. I don't know how he produced the original Star Wars but I attribute it to crack.

Finally watched taxi driver. Feels like that's exactly where we are headed: Having to work long hours, having trouble sleeping and losing our sense of direction as others make the big decisions for us. Until we decide the hell with that and do something about it.

Also damn, De Niro has changed.

Are you talking to me?

Yeah, both De Niro and Pacino were these gifted actors who played in one cool movie after another and then in the 2000's they both started signing in to crappy scripts more than often and especially De Niro kind of turned into a caricature of himself. Well, they must be in their eighties now, not taking so much seriously.
