So, finally seen Rogue One, I think it was better, much better than both the prequel trilogy and the Force Awakens. A satisfying SW movie since so many years. One thing though, why is Darth Vader residing in some volcanic wasteland, because it looks evil? He is the right hand man of the emperor, the second most powerful man through out countless solar systems... Why colonize the enitre galaxy if you're gonna live on a frigging rock? Meanwhile, tropical moons with the whole beach and the wonderful climate are used as outposts and radar stations! Somebody got to use this in a stand up show soon.

Vader and the Emperor both live in **** housing unit for being rulers of the galaxy. The Emperor's throne room looks like a vacant junior high school cafeteria that got coated in black & gray spray-paint. It's part of the light-dark Zoroastrianism of Star Wars. Sith don't party. Sith just want power.

Rogue One had the most enjoyable space battle in all SW movies history, but the main Rebel cell was more forgettable than your everyday Marvel movie villians. After rewatching ep VII last summer (+ Rogue One), I feel like these new movies under Disney lack the charm both the Original Trilogy and the Prequels had.
They aren't terrible by any means, but...I find myself missing something.

Logan was a great finale for the Wolverine character, Hugh Jackman truly became iconic as him. A bummer that the next X-men movies will continue to suck (minus Deadpool ofc)

Perhaps something like a believable backdrop? Although Rogue One was embedded in the older trilogy line. The Force Awakens missed a political backdrop for sure, though; the First Order simply didn't have the same almost mythical power that the Galactic Empire under Palpatine had. Perhaps Rogue One misses out something as well as it's just a single movie, whereas the trilogies have some sort of continuation and consistency that was important too.

Having memorable characters & good actors help too. Both Finn and Rey were severly underwhelming in ep VII, while Jyn never really kicked off. Compare that to McGregor's Obi-Wan, Lee's Count Dooku or McDiarmid's Palpatine. It's just no the same, you know?

The prequels being connected to the OT helped, sure. But even if they failed to properly tell one of the biggest elements of their story (Anakin's fall to the Dark Side), they still had plenty of great moments.

(Plus, the prequels gave us the Clone Wars series, that was pure joy starting from season 3 )

Good actors? Anakin is one of the worst actors ever seen on cinema. The love affair is one of the most cringe worthy things I have ever seen. Obi- Wan is completely one dimensional.

Palpatine was great tho, that is why Episode 3 rocks.

I think Ewan McGreggor did fine as young Obi-Wan.

Watched jurassic world and it was fun though the plot felt silly at times. Good action, amazing scenes and Chris Pratt is awesome - perhaps a bit too much. The movie would have been better if they toned down the comedy aspect.

Hercules(2014) was also fun. Well, any movie with the rock(Dwayne Johnson) tends to be fun and there is nobody more suited to play Hercules. Holy crap, did he get even more pumped? I liked the team(Atalanta the archer, Amphiaraus the warrior-seer, Autolykus the rogue, Tydeus the berserker, Iolaus the bard ), the action and the army tactics. There is also a short comic series that this movie was based on, though different in tone and it takes the story elsewhere. Recommended if a bit graphic.

Is it true that in Germany and in Russia, everything is always dubbed and you can't find movie theaters which show films in subtitles?

Yeah, the last time I watched a dubbed movie, I was probably 16 or something. It just kills the performance.

"Room" was a very interesting movie about a girl that was a sex slave for 7 years in a garden shed and her son who spent his entire early childhood inside the shed. The way the boy understood the world was pretty fascinating ("Wall has two sides?? How? I don't understand.") The story was based on a real life event.

I haven't but the reviews are not very kind. From the trailers it looks like poor man's Alien. Would be nice if you can share if it's worth watching.

Watched suicide squad. Started off rather fun and quirky but ended up serious and heroic, wtf. They suddenly got best friends and Del Diablo called them a second family? They said we're the bad guys like 4-5 times? Captain Boomerang didn't even show his boomerang skills? And the joker is a babyface sexy gangsta. On the bright side Harley Quinn has a good presence and has not forgotten her psychiatrist skills.

Fairly watchable but some decisions were baffling. They forgot how to keep it fun after the first half.

I saw it and was mostly entertained.  Aside from a few early cringe worthy moments,  it's not a gory or terrifying as it could have been. I give it a solid B.
