Cameron says if avatar 2 and 3 don't go well, we won't get 4 and 5. My more immediate query is who cares? It was beautiful and I would watch more of it but it was hardly a breathtaking story.

Hmm to come to think of it I'd like to know how other people rank the Marvel movies from worst to best.

Interesting idea. So far, I'd rank the three Captain America films as the best, followed by The Avengers (2012), Thor: Ragnarok, Iron Man (2008), Doctor Strange and Guardians of the Galaxy.

Then I'd place Ant-Man, Thor, Iron Man 3 and The Incredible Hulk in the middle.

And lastly Iron Man 2, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Thor: The Dark World and Spider-Man: Homecoming as the weakest.

I haven't seen Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 yet.

Laugh all you want Kipshasz. Evil/Illuminati/Reptillian Disney has bought Fox. What's next? Soon you'll be seeing 'Donald' everywhere

Back to the topic of movies. It's a bit late but I recommend Thor Ragnarok to anyone who hasn't seen it yet. Fun movie, and a case when a sequel turns into a different (more lighthearted) direction then it's predecessors, but for a good effect (as opposed to The Last Jedi 'wasting' the potential of Force Awakens for many people, but I'm talking about novelty vs. wasted potential/remaking the same schematics ratio).

And say what you want, Marvel ciematic universe is a geeks wet dream (which is good, that's how comic book adaptations should be) even if you don't like them. With Disney acquiring Fox, maybe finally I'm gonna get a good X-Men adaptation (I dislike the original ones). DC CI is lost on the other hand

Speaking of Marvel 'seriousness' as there was this kind of discussion before, I think the next two movies 'Dark Panther' and 'Infinity War vol. 1' will finally scratch that drama/let's get serious itch for all those who want it. The fact tha Disney bought Fox sets the stage for new movies. Galactus as the new meta-villain after Thanos? Why not?

Blasphemyyy! For me the original X-men 2 is one of the best comic book movies of all time.

Out of the reboot First Class and Days of Future Past were definitely good, yet I don't understand the decision to make each movie 10 years apart from each other. Doesn't work for me. Also at this point I dislike Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique and Sophie Turner as Jean Grey. I do hear she is studying multiple personality disorder for her role as Dark Phoenix but I refuse to get my hopes up. It is one of the most iconic story lines from the X-men and they are rushing it.

How will they introduce the X-men into the MCU is beyond me, maybe Thanos uses the gauntlet and causes the X-gene to activate? Dunno, but then again Marvel still has my trust so I am not that worried about that.

Actually casting is one of the biggest problems with X-Men. Call me sexist and a nerdy geek, cus I am being one here, but for instance characters like Rogue or Jean Grey are hot babes in comics while the actresess cast for the roles are usually plain (these characters had already a few recast and they're almost always a miss). Looks aside they also don't have that charisma. I would like to see an actress like Megan Fox or Daisy Ridley in these roles. Yeah I know it's personal taste, many people will prefer those casted ladies over those I mentioned, but I don't think I'm the only one thinking like this...

Other casting choices are also usually poor. I think that Hugh Jackman as Wolverine was a good choice but for instance Magneto wasn't a good cast (even though I like Ian McKellen he was too old for this role). My biggest problem with X-Men movies is that they don't have this comic feel to them. They're hell-bend on realism (my main issue with the C. Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy), whereas they should have more of an Avangers treatment. Maybe it's because I was raised on 90s X-Men cartoon, so my impression of X-Men are these bulky and cheesy characters? I can't exactly describe you what I mean, and as stupid my opinion may sound, ultimately I simply don't 'feel' the movies.

Regarding the X-Men movies, at first I was also not very impressed with them, expecting something more like the cartoon, especially the treatment of some characters was a letdown for me.
But after watching them again recently, I liked them well enough (most of them). That said, I still prefer the MCU.

So, the X-Men coming to the MCU is definitely something interesting to follow, wonder how they'll do it.

Agree, one of my favourites. Didn't follow X-Men franchise since then, it seems to be a bunch of disjointed movies. That's where Fox failed.

Oh god, Rogue was such an awful punk in X-Men 1.

I also have no idea how MCU is going to introduce mutants, even in many movies form now on. Mutants in comics have their own, long history and can't spawn out of the blue just like that. X-Men movies show that they've been existing for decades already, apart from Apocalypse which can however be forgotten altogether.

However, I expect to see Fantastic Four already in Phase 4.

I'm calling it : Someone bought the Avengers Tower in Spider-Man Homecoming. It was none other than Reed Richardson and the tower will be renamed Baxter Building - the headquarters of Fantastic Four. Basically the big A just turns into 4.

Dunkirk was brilliant. It's been a long time since I havent seen a really good war movie and I had high expectations because of Nolan, he delivered. The three timelines was something hard to pull off, yet he did it. The effects were realistic but not overdone, they werent flashy, the whole thing was human centred but not melodramatic at all. Bravo.

Agreed. Once I understood how the three timelines were "working" in the movie, it started to make much more sense to me.

I was a bit surprised when I reflected on the movie and realised that throughout the entire movie, you only see German soldiers at the very end when the British pilot is captured. Well, of course you saw the German airplanes at multiple points, but you didn't really see the pilots themselves.

When I went to see it, I expected more historical background, but the story is really bare-bones: it just revolves around the three main story arcs and nothing else around it, contextually. It actually works pretty well, to be honest.

The heightpoint of the movie for me involved the various aerial combat moments. It was somewhat frightening to see how those pilots had to handle their craft and perform their duties up there, with so little in the way of instruments.

Yeah the dogfight scenes are amazing. That's the best movie I've seen in awhile. It's something I'm glad I saw in theater (twice) so you can capture the size and scope of the Atlantic and the beach.

I liked the end a lot too, when the two guys were riding the train and expecting to be hated.

So, I watched Bright. The concept; orcs, elves, humans in modern day LA with ghettos, racism policies, class conlict etc seemed forced and awful to me. I was expecting a horrible movie. It didn't turn out so bad in terms of popcorn material though, maybe because my expectations were so low.

what i've watched since i last posted here:

it: great movie, but whoever they cast for the clown blows chunks. i've been more intimidated by unclean laundry. everything else was top-notch.

shot caller: good movie, but unrealistic. main character would have been killed because they would have linked the final act to him.

thor- ragnarok: great movie, but some of the later scenes were cringe-worthy. clearly a popcorn movie.

blade runner(original): finally watched it all the way through(up until now, only saw bits and pieces on t.v.). very enjoyable movie. the soundtrack creates an awesome mood for the movie.

blade runner 2049: good movie, but not as good as the original. still pretty enjoyable.

kong- skull island: meh. ok flick. wasn't impressed.

ghost in the shell: great movie adaptation of the anime. top-notch visuals. i want to live in this world.

spiderman- homecoming: great movie. i'm much more a fan of this new spiderman over tobey's version. never did watch the versions in-between the two; but i doubt they even compare.

war for the planet of the apes: great movie. would have been even better if the version i watched had subtitles, so that i know what all the sign-language was about.

repo men: another great movie. cool af.

the grand budapest hotel: another great movie. intensely charming(almost to the point of being pretentious, but not quite) and hilarious.

ex machina: a great movie. all-around awesome.

predestination: this movie is utterly retarded. it makes no logical sense; even a movie like "transformers" makes more sense. a waste of time for anyone with a brain.
