So progressive! This will surely solve all the domestic abuse happening.

That is like the most obnoxious thing I ever heard in a while.

@fred

Predestination is this little story/joke turned into a movie, that's the plot right here:

Although, I agree it doesnt work well as a feature-length film, too many logical loop holes when you go into detail.

so what you're saying is, is that i could've watched that video and been entertained attempting to figure it out like a puzzle, instead of wasting the time to watch that whole movie?

too little, too late, man. you're as useful as a screen door in a submarine.

also, just finished watching "needful things" for the first time(i've seen snippets on t.v. up until now). i give it a solid c, as far as king movies go. not bad, not great. it would be a better movie, and story, if it was on a scale grander than a puny little town in maine. you see all the newspaper clippings of great evil deeds, and then he comes to castle rock. wtf. king, you dope.

Most of King's stories take place in Maine, what do you expect? The guy lives there, he's a fan of Lovercraft who's obsessed with New England, it's always easier to write about a small-scale evil than a large-scale one because the former one is far more personal... You get the idea.

A movie industry is full of different genres, tones and opinions - but Marvel wins anyway.

dude, i've read nearly all of king's books; i'm a huge fan myself. writing about the devil causing havoc in a tiny little burg in maine is ridiculous. you forget, that king also wrote "the stand" and "the dark tower" series, which took place all over the u.s., and in different worlds. there's just no excuse.

but then again, "it" was an eternal alien god-like being, soooo...

watched "split". was good(hilarious at times), but not good enough to watch twice, imo. the main character had played a similar part in "filth", which is a much better movie.

"savages" was decent up until a point where it plummeted off a cliff. not worth watching again. not really worth watching the first time.

One would think enough with this s*it! But no, I can never get enough of Marvel movies, they're simply fun. And I like how they still manage to to transfer the comic book feel on the big screen. And manage to still surprise how good they can get, like Thor Ragnarok for instance.

Watched Thelma yesterday. Not the best movie to end a tiresome day with but good nevertheless. Something about is lacking, not quite sure what though. The story is quite good and told well, although not terribly original, the acting is good as well, the directing is great, yet for some reason parts of the movie feel... disjointed and maybe somewhat forced. I wouldn't sing any praises for it but if you're looking for a good quality thriller to spend 2 hours with, this one is suitable choice.

DO NOT WATCH "this is the end". i thought it might be funny based on the trailer, and i regrettably sat through it. it started off ok, but as it progressed it just went more and more into sheer potato land. i actually feel like an absolute idiot for wasting my time with that utter tripe.

ok, so i watched "the game" with michael douglas. great movie...

SPOILER ALERT

only one problem: his reaction at the end was nowhere near believable. i would have went apesnow on anyone involved. like, king-kong-sized apesnow. there would have been an actual massacre. nobody screws me up in the head enough to actually try and commit suicide through a series of really snowed-up events, and then gets my relief and loving endearment that it was all just a bunch of sinister pranks at the end of it. no. snowing. way.

the correct answer to that scenario is massacre, obviously. and if my family was involved in it, i'd at least disown them. i mean, ffs.

just finished "the shallows". good movie. great shark. they did a fantastic job on it; the most realistic i've ever seen in a movie, that wasn't clips from actual shark footage. the shark in the movie looks exactly like a real great white.

SPOILER ALERT

there are definitely unrealistic scenes/themes in this movie(like a shark repeatedly biting and chewing up steel without losing teeth/getting it's mouth mangled, or being afraid of jellyfish, lol), but you can still enjoy the movie nevertheless.

that they made the shark as intelligent as a killer whale is awesome. that they gave it a temper and a revenge streak like i would have if i was a shark who had a hook stuck in it's lip, is even better.

watched most of "nerve"(i didn't make it all the way through, due to increasingly retarded scenes). the soundtrack alone is enough to make me want to stick screwdrivers in my ears and scramble my ear drums so i can experience the sweet bliss of silence. this movie is obviously directed at teenage white girls*, but i did make it most of the way through. it could have been a lot better, certainly. i'll give it a 4 out of 10.

SPOILER ALERT?

*i get the feeling the idea for this movie was created by a teenage white girl who visited 4chan on a dare from her straight-edge conservative suburban friends, and saw what happens there sometimes; then ran off to sell her idea to hollywood, who injected their agenda for all teenage white girls into it to complete the picture.

"nerve" has "this is what the news/my soccer mom says about 4chan" all over it. the guy fawkes masks were a tad over the top, imo.

Yes, that is the same "This is the End." It was funny, I watched it with zero expactations and was pleasantly surprised at how many times it made me laugh, my favorite scene is where they stock everything carefully and then the drunk guy that zoned out during the apocalypse wakes up and he makes this luxury breakfast with all the resources, even washes his face with bottled water, then greets them "good morning sunshine."

The Game is not a bad movie but I think at some point it becomes completely unbelievable because they start calculating actions impossible to accurately predict. Just an example among dozens, how can they predict he will decide to jump for sure or that he will jump from that exact location? And such a long fall is always very risky no matter what you put on the surface... "The Game" is simply not a playable one and that just kills the "delicate masterplan" mood the movie relies so much on.

Seems Black Panther is getting a lot of praise. Really want to watch this movie.

I like it when topics like "proud to be black/(insert group of people)" are simply shown as bad-ass movies that happen to have "a message" in them. Well at least I hope it's that way, I might still be decieved here.

A hybrid of American popcorn movie/Marvel cinematic universe being on a roll and inspiration from African native culture is something to look forward to I think. No cheesy agenda here, simply me saying it's a good way of doing things.

Would be nice if they ever did something similiar with Native American culture. I wonder if we will ever get a fantasy movie based on Native American lore. It would be very cool. So far we only got a few animated features like Disney's Brother Bear (although it was set in post Ice-Age) or Pocahontas. I also watched a story-oriented documentary once about Iroquise legends, which was very cool actually. And no, I don't count Apocalypto, it was about Mesoamericans...

i felt the same way; it just gets beyond ridiculous.

now, on a more positive note, i just watched "the void". any fan of lovecraft or eldritch monsters("the thing", and "in the mouth of madness" fall under this specific subgenre, as well), will love this movie. i did.

the soundtrack is SOOOOOOOOOO much better than the soundtrack of "nerve", lol. if i'm not mistaken, it has some of the very same tracks that i'm going to use for my lovecraft faction, that i found on youtube.

the overall feel of the movie is creeping madness. i love the mood this movie puts you in. it slithers along, tenses you up, and all the while it plays with your head. it's got the gore, dark themes, and violence of the "hellraiser" series, with the derangement of a much darker "naked lunch".

typical movie viewers will not like this movie; it received a subpar rating from regular moviegoers. but the critics enjoyed it, and lovecraft fans will definitely enjoy it. it's got lovecraft written all over it.
