Don't make me say what I didn't African rhythms are great when combined to any music. What I meant was tribal usages, it just looks weird to see half naked women, lips pierced, doing the belly dance, armed with spears and in the next second using hight tech holograms and space ship. It looks forced to me, to insist so much on origins.

daaaaaaamn. if you're a fan of "heat"(who isn't?), i'd highly recommend "den of thieves". no snow, i had to double-check that this movie wasn't from the same guy who made "heat". they're very similar. up to a certain point, the movies are almost identical.

don't let that stop you, though. you don't want to sleep on this movie; trust me. this is the first movie in years that had my pulse going.

i was really excited that venom was getting his own movie, and waaayyyyy hyped that tom hardy is cast as venom, but after watching the trailer i frankly feel underwhelmed. i surely hope the trailer doesn't do the movie justice.

i have a hard time seeing woody harrelson in the role of carnage; he just doesn't say "maniacal and bloodthirsty serial killer" to me, at all. he wasn't really intimidating as mickey in "natural born killers", either. i don't think, that just because he was in "zombieland", that he should be in "venom"(which the director for both undoubtedly had a hand in). but maybe he will surprise me. lordy god, i hope so.

that this movie will be rated "r", automatically gives it some more points on the board. you can't have villains like venom or carnage in a movie, without near rated-x scenes for gratuitous graphic violence; they barely got away with that in "the dark knight" with the joker's own knack for violence(they were at least able to pull it off with implied violence).

edit: since it was brought up in another thread, i'm posting this here:

i think doug jones would've made a great carnage. he even looks and is built like cletus kasady, and he surely knows how to be intimidating.

i seriously think he would have been heath-ledger-good for the role. people are sleeping on this guy.

I dont take trailers seriously for any movie. They can easily doctor up garbage movies to look good (The Last Jedi and any Fantastic 4 movie stands out in particular).

I think Woody will be a good fit. He has a strangeness about him; think "Natural Born Killers".

The only movie with Tom Hardy I disliked was Dark Knight Rises, and that wasnt because of Bane. His other stuff is all earthy, intense, and delicious

lol, i mentioned nbk. i don't know, ever since i saw him play a german transexual in that ridiculous role(i forget the movie), i never saw him the same way afterward. nothing against transexuals, it's just that the role didn't suit him at all, imo. it's like when de niro did those snowty comedies, i couldn't look at him the same way after that. a respectable actor doesn't take roles that ridicule him in his profession. i think, once an actor or actress sets a certain precedent, they shouldn't go and snow that up with ridiculous roles unbefitting them. that's why i can't respect woody anymore. one of the very reasons i'm not going to bother seeing the han solo movie, is because woody's in it, and he doesn't BELONG in that universe. that's like putting a duck's bill on a dog; it just doesn't make logical sense.

and i absolutely agree that tom harding is a fantastic actor. i try to see every movie he's in. he's one of my new faves, like mikes mikkelsen(although mikes' range isn't comparable to tom's).

Best Tom Hardy movie for watching Tom Hardy’s acting skills is the one where he plays both of the twin gangsters from Britain, the one set in the sixties, cant remember the name now.

Watched Stardust again, still amazed at how perfectly well rounded it is, you can't call it childish since people literally die throughout from the get go and not even remotely pretty deaths, but at the same time it can feel lighthearted, adventurous and wonderous, it can feel grand, it can feel terrifying, it can feel unsure.

Idk, when I think back on this movie I always go, ye it was good, but I never wanted to say that it's great, but in all honesty, it's really the best (from all the others out there certainly) imho.

I'm curious what you young'uns think about Spaceballs.  I was rewatching recently and realized about 2/3rds of the jokes were falling flat.  It couldn't have been that bad when it came out, could it?

Having said that though, there's still moments that crack me up, like the 'unending spaceship pan' at the beginning of the movie.
heheheh, I'm lol'ing just thinking about it.

i'll watch stardust, but if it sucks, prepare to be reamed. it looks like a romance at first glance, and i hate romance in general. that said, i like "what dreams may come".

i'm still a fan of spaceballs, even though a lot of the humor is stale now. i think i prefer "blazing saddles" more, but i'm unsure. there are definitely funnier comedies out there; i've been trying to find "life of brian" online, but haven't had success.

Almost all movies have an obligatory small amount of romance so women will watch it. Seriously: find movies with zero romance in them. There are barely any. Women have their heads in the gutter 24/7.

Humor went through a phase in the 80s and 90s so that a lot of it feels over-the-top now. If you go back further to the 70s and before most of it becomes funny again, a lot of times funnier than present comedy since alot of contemporary uses vulgarity as a crutch in place of wit.

At first I thought you said "prepare to be re-armed" and I had absolutely no idea what to expect. I thought you were going to rip my arms out and then stitch them back on.

I’ve only seen it once years ago, I can hardly remember the story now, romance was involved but that never bothers me, unless it is some forced, formulaic “well, the lead has to have a romantic interest”  installation, it wasn’t. I wasnt half as impressed but tsar is right about the part that it is interesting and relatively original compared to a lot of Hollywood fantasies. (Just tried Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur, the intro was so over the top, so full of cliches and so “I will numb you with so much CGI, you wont even need a story,” I almost puked, and I used to adore Guy Ritchie films before he went full Hollywood.)

lol, i haven't even seen the movie yet. that only means i judge a book by it's cover; it has nothing to do with what i find to be of quality. and by this movie's "cover", it's a LAME book.

i won't end up watching it regardless, because it's not available on the site i use. no love lost.

Watched "I, Daniel Blake" yesterday. The movie suffers from lack of subtlety in delivering its message and some excessive usage of binary characters (and characteristics) but it's still relatively good. If the British welfare system is really such a bureaucratic inquisition, maybe some of the bluntness is warranted - not as an excuse for lack or artistic qualities but as a mean to sound the alarm (in which case a documentary would have been a better format though).

Earlier this week I've been recommended some relatively new Japanese series about the Sengoku period which I couldn't find anywhere so decided to watch some Kurosava as a substitute. "Kagemusha" in particular. I liked it more than "Seven Samurai" - for which I have a generally good opinion - and much more than "Ran" which nearly made me fall asleep. A good example of a long movie which does not become boring or bogs down in unnecessarily protracted scenes.

Deadpool 2 was awesome A few things: I was never a Josh Brolin fan but after Thanos and Cable I have have to like him. Domino's 'luck' power is fun. There are some hilarious cameos that I won't spoil, just keep your eyes and ears open. There are two mid-credit scenes in quick succession, wait for iit. A wildly entertaining film, maybe on par with the original if more serious in tone.

On that note here's a cutscene compilation from the game. Fun stuff.
