I guess, I’m really old-school then, since I know Morbius from the Spider-Man comics, not a TV show. That is, considering I was around 15 or something, if I remember him correctly, he was a vampire, right? If so, vampire movies always have a fan base, whether he is a known Marvel character or not.

Shawshank Redemption - A good prison drama film. Probably the best adaptation of King's writing. despite all the typical King Tropes (alcoholism, religion, Maine etc)

It's been, not sure if it is anymore, the top IMDB movie of all time. I liked it.

I'll try the new Jurassic World movie tonight.

It is, and as inspiring as Shawshank is, I’d certainly put the Godfather or Pulp Fiction way above it.

I have never watched either of those. To be fair, I watched Pulp Fiction until a scene where Travolta and Uma started dancing. Then I think I dozed off. Later, I borrowed my DVD (yes, I had it) which never make it back home.

Dude, I dont understand you guys sometimes, those are excellent works that have been around for decades, they must have been shown in TV like 30 times already. Elvin, watching Goodfellas in 2018, you not even seeing the Godfather... How come you don’t get curious? There’s only like 2 or 3 movies I havent seen in imdb’s top 100.

Lack of TV on my side, in any case . I've never had a television connection in my house, as most of the programs and series on television these days are utter crap.

Well, I never saw any films such as these on TV for the first time. I simply buy or download them. What I mean is, even if you dont do that, you must have came across them on TV. (Assumming most of you guys having TVs, of course.)

Movies are not part of my priorities. I do prefer listening to the rain falling most of the times. I have a little curiosity about those movies, though. But not enough to prompt me going after them these days. Probably need some mood tinkering or remind about them, dunno lol.

I also don't own a TV for almost a decade because, just as Maurice said, it's utter crappy.

Not if you have cable TV with thematic movie channels, documantery channels, series channells etc. I agree mainstream tv is unbearable most of the times though, except for stuff like checking out the news every once in a while or coming across a political debate etc.

I was curious to watch films like Pulp Fiction, The Godfather and Goodfellas even though I'm not usually a fan of the crime genre. But, it depends, as I also know people who haven't seen all of them or any of them.

And I was curious enough to watch the full-length version of Seven Samurai too. But there are still many older (or even newer) famous movies I haven't seen yet.

So they are making a Morbius movie with Jared Leto. Not bad an idea, let's see how it unfolds.

Jared leto lost all possible credibility when he became an uber-hipster irl and completely raped the part of mr. J in that unmentionable pusilanimous teenybopper drivel made for people with negative iq's.

I only ever had one morbius comic book as a kid, and it was only for the art. Every other comic i've seen him drawn in was as godawful as leto's fashion sense.

I'd just as soon watch that movie as i would watch any "madea" tripe.

Imdb's top 100 list is all kinds of snowed up. They get some right, but most are wrong. Who in the hell puts most of that tripe before "heat", among a bazillion other top films?

Fair enough. I have not seen Leto's Joker yet and I'm more excited about the character (Morbius) being in a feature film than for who's playing him.

About the top 100 thing, maybe we at Hc could make at least a top 10 or 20 of the best films in our views.

I mean, The Dark Knight isn't that bad, but 4th best movie ever? Give me a break.

Yesterday, then, watched the new Jurassic World, then Deadpool 2, then Rampage.

Deadpool 2 was the one I found the most entertaining. JW was, again, a predictable CGI show struggling to have some emotional impact. And Rampage ... uh, felt like JW, another CGI show with weak writing, although I like the Rock as a fitness/bodybuilding follower myself. But, really, only Deadpool 2 felt like not wasting time.

Well, it is not a critics’ list or an institutional list, it is simply the movies that got the highest stars from most number of people.

So basically, new blockbusters like the Dark Night get an advantage. I mean, many people who voted rated the Dark Night would never claim it has more artistic value than Citizen Kane, for instance. But they probably didnt even see the latter and even if they did, didnt bother to rate it.

I always try to rate movies based on what they are and to what they "aspire" to be. If I see a blockbuster movie I won't rate it's artistic value. And it goes the other way also. I'm not talking about the overall enjoyment, the movie can be "bad or good" for me either way. I will rate a blockbusters fun factor, and something I like to call "epicness" or, if we're talking about adaptations, if they managed to catch it's source materials atmosphere.

I hate it when critics rate a movie, let's say, about hunting monsters based on it's weak plot. I mean what plot you can get from a monster hunting movie? You don't exactly expect some serious plot twists or existential reflections in an action movie (well at least in a reasonable scale)? But if they do manage to deliver something extra, it's only only an added value.

Maybe it's not exactly the best approach, but it's how I operate

If I were to watch it I would do it only for Margot Robbie.
