big surprise there. i have no idea how the first one made it to theater. people are asleep at the wheel, if you ask me. i keep seeing editing issues with commercials on t.v., so obviously it's not just the movie industry that is lacking brain power...

I thought Tube's Magical Time Traveling Adventure to be mediocre. The action was so-so, the plot was stupid (since when can Shadow Cat phase people through time?), and the acting was OK. Assuming Singer does not end up in prison due to the sex abuse allegations, I really hope in Age of Apocalypse he focuses on someone other than Wolverine for a change. For a character with centuries of history, he is a really uninteresting lead.

I've just seen the director's cut version of Cinema Paradiso, one of my favorite films of all time and it's a perfect example of how sometimes the best way of telling a story is extracting things and not putting everything in. This version is almost an hour longer, most of the additional part belongs to the last episode of the film. The additions dramatically reduce the incredible effect of the finale, which was like the best finale in cinema history ever.
I watch Cinema Paradiso every now and then, like every 3-4 years or so. I'll go back to the theatrical version the next time, not the director's cut.

Just watched Boondock Saints, a surprisingly well done movie, I anticipated some drool fest but it was actually very well done, and it felt good. (usually I get an inner revulsion when watching **** films)

I do not know how accurate a depiction of politics and corruption in Rio de Janeiro they are, but the Brazillian films Elite Squad and Elite Squad 2 are just fantastic. Especially the second one. I can't praise it highly enough.

I think there is another first film called City of God, although they are not exactly sequels. Downloaded them all a while ago, waiting for a convenient day to go marathon...

Cool Hand Luke was one of the classics that slipped by all these years, I finally got to watch it and the film really deserves to be a classic. They don't make them like they used to. It was also funny, suddenly recognizing the words of the captain that was directly sampled in the Guns n Roses song, Civil War. I used to love that song as a teenager.
Once Upon a Time in Anatolia was another one I finally got to watch. Usually, I find Nuri Bilge Ceylan's cinema too slow paced for my taste, after he got the best film award (with another picture) in Cannes though, I decided to give this another go, and boy, am I glad. This IS a slow movie, revolving around a local murder in some remote village. It asks you to pay attention, no popcorn... If you do however, once you settle in the mood, it's a great work that observes the human psyche with true talent.

cool hand luke's one of the sweatiest movies i've ever seen. i am probably biased against it, because of the way my old roommate pitched it to me, before i watched it with him. i was expecting something entirely different; i couldn't relate to the passive nature of the hero. he pissed me off.
