I'm pretty sure I'd seen Rian's trilogy confirmed a few days back. Brie's name must have been thrown in for April Fool's laughs.

The thing is, people can always point back to the fact that it made well over a billion dollars and say that it was a massive success.
And technically they're not wrong but the movie definitely would have made more money from repeat viewers if lots of people didn't dislike it. Star Wars is DEAD in China. Dead and buried.
The brand matters more than the quality.
Solo's bad box office (which was actually a pretty cool movie) was heavily based on TLJ being a bad movie.

Watched man from earth, beautiful movie for pondering and reflection. Someone is about to move, he gathers his friends to tell them a secret and they end up talking through the night. Lots of food for thought.

Did they make a remake or did you watch the original? They praised that movie endlessly before I watched it, so my expectations were not exactly met but still, I miss movies that revolve around conversation.

I liked the ritualistic feel they were going for but it doesn't quite mesh well with the modern era. And then there was that magic flower that blooms only in the king's garden. Heh.

Most of the marvel movies are dumb and forgettable. Black Panther was exceedingly dumb but somewhat memorable. Like the dude with the lip plate. Read that as a compliment if you like.

The only Marvel movie I truly enjoyed lately, despite the inflation, was Into the Spider-verse. It was original, different, very funny, well-written with actual characters and the graphic art was spot on. One of the spider-men being Batman Spider-Man with Aunt May as Alfred was hilarious.

I preferred Aquaman but yeah it was a fun romp. Warner Bros seem to finally know what they're doing. In a couple years we should expect an actual good Justice League movie, but in the mean time we can enjoy whatever they come out with.

That was a Sony film, not Disney.
The artwork was unique and pretty fantastic. The first 5 minutes of the movie my eyeballs were like "What!!!??" but once I adjusted to it, it was great. I definitely enjoyed it more than the regular Spiderman.

I watched it too. They did a lot of things right but other than some genuinely funny teen antics the humour often falls flat or enters awkward territory. And I could not believe the amount of stupidity when it comes to plot holes, motivations or decisions. I mean this is more of a kiddie movie but they could have easily fixed the stupid parts, they are really easy to spot. Leaving your brain at the entrance is a requirement for better or worse. I liked the antagonist and his evil spirits schtick, he reminded me of Dominic Purcell. But like marvel movie villains he's rather generic and has the same powers as the protagonist. I'd have liked captain marvel more if he wasn't such a bumbling fool but Zachary Levi did a really good job for his role. Last scene was fun

Yep, for 20 seconds or so, I was going “I know this voice so well but whose was it damn it” and then I paused the film and googled it in order to be done with the “it’s on the tip of my tongue” annoyance.

Yeah villains a lot of times are kind of boring. Most of the time they're basically 40-some-year-olds that don't like to share toys but instead of crying or shoving, they try to cut you in half.
I'm going to bring Black Panther up again because I thought Warmonger was pretty awesome as far as villains go. Kingpin in Spiderverse was also pretty cool.
