And he's gonna play in that new Lovecraft film too. I am a little concerned.

Nicholas Cage is weird. I've seen movies where he was awesome in a part, and other movies it's like "Who is this person and why is he being paid millions of dollars to suck?"

Maybe he has drug problems or something like that and he sucks when he’s high. Also, some directors know better how to use their actors.

He's a financial mess. He owns like 6+ big homes and even on a celebrity budget it's kind of ruined him. I don't know about drugs.

I absolutely loved him way back in the 1990s with The Rock.

The Rock is an action movie at its best but I think his best as an actor was the alcoholic guy in Leaving Las Vegas.

Nevermind. Apparently the latest is the first of a trilogy; "The Dunwich Horror" being next.

I just finished watching "City of God". One of the best movies i've ever seen. The cinematography, the gritty realism(minus a few hiccups here and there); this movie is real af. The story turns out to be true, as well. Highly recommended.

Hey man, so I watched Lion King cgi remake.

Yes, it's almost a 1:1 copy of the original, even the songs and dialogues are almost the same. Fortunately there is some added material (Nala's story is more fleshed out, there are some added scenes in the jungle). And unsuprisingly some scenes were changed to look more realistic (for instance Scar songs scene on the Elephant Graveyard). But at the same being very similar to original material doesn't take away how great this story is. Plus all those natural African landscapes added some depth to the story. And I must say the cgi is really good, they outdid themselves this time, it didn't look that good in the trailers. Yes it does loose on facial expressions, you can't exactly tell teh characters reactions. But at the same time "talking animals" never looked this realistic. A bit more technological pushes and I doubt cgi will ever be a problem...

This movie is very nostalgic to many people, and I think it's worth the trip. This story never gets old.

I ended up seeing Frozen 2 the other day.  I didn't expect much and I'm not a huge fan of the original, so I tried to keep my expectations low; they were met.

The story is just one incoherent, contrived mess.

Watching The Fellowship of the Ring again and it's still pretty damn fine as far as fantasy films go.

Is there even any fantasy film you can compare it to? It's in a league of its own...

When it comes to archetypal hero journey story those are comparable.

But for me those are two vastly different genres, so I don't treat those trilogies as something to be compared between... as a fan of fantasy genre, LotR is superior for me.

My opinion is Friday the 13th! When killing style never changed. Yes Batman. Those cars, etc. Friday is the best movie. Hi! You there, non-hc member! Don't try to change killing style by handicapped sound. I'm Friday fan.

Anybody who knows their sci-fi and fantasy will tell you SW is also fantasy, if that’s what you mean. I dont have the time to get all technical about it but even IMDB categorizes SW as action/adventure/fantasy. Just because the decor is space and laser beams, doesnt make it sci-fi. SW universe is just as magical as LotR, you have ghosts, auras, “space dragons”  that devour ships, the whole deal.

Yeah, Star Wars is certainly comparable to LOTR. I would describe it a fairy tale-like adventure set in space.

What I meant to point out is that the movie (Fellowship) feels so captivating and fresh even though I've seen it so often since it came out. They knew how to stay true to the spirit of the books which are timeless.

As the years have gone by I'm more annoyed by Tom Bombadil's absence (he is a significant chunk of the book) but a great trilogy all in all. The Fellowship is the best movie of the three.

Of all movies ever made, the Riders of Rohirrim charging the Oliphaunts is perhaps the single most epic action scene ever.

I refuse to give the movies 10 out of 10 because they do still have some issues. The hobbits do some annoying overacting, Legolas is slightly cheesy, and no Tom Bombadil. I'm honestly not a fan of Elijah Wood's acting and he is one of the three main characters. Original Star Wars is a better made trilogy.

I hated the way they treated the second book, it deserved so much better. That fake shock value in particular was simply unforgivable. I was disappointed Bombadil was out when I first saw the film, or the lack of the Barrow wights. If only it could have been adapted in a series, too much to cram into a movie.

I watched Maleficent and it was so adorable! Angelina has the perfect face for a fairy and carried herself nicely. Only, screw the annoying fairy godmothers.
