Guys, hit me with your neo-noir movies.  Something other than what's presented on the first page of Google search.

Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance for some brutality.
Blue Velvet for some oozing atmosphere.
Drive for minimalism and the perfect soundtrack.
Brick just as a fu to all Star Wars fanboys who say Rian Johnson can't do good movies ;P

Sympathy is the only one I haven't watched on that list.
Funny thing is I've watched Blue Velvet today.

And Brick is just a masterpiece.

If you were into Blue Velvet I highly recommend Lost Highway. Also in similar vein I really like Enemy (2013), but pick them up only if you are into the more kafkaesque neo-noir movies.

Kafkaesque is my cup of tea.  Thing is, there's not a lot of movies in that style.

Saw Tenet in the theatres before my governor shut down them all down again for COVID.  Christopher Nolan makes my brain hurt when he isn't making Batman movies.  The other bummer was my movie house was trying to save a few bucks on utilities so the theatre wasn't its AC wasn't on its proper 'erect nipples' setting.

Of all the movies I was looking forward to in 2021 that demand to be seen in the theater and have been delayed, the two that are most soul crushing to me are A Quiet Place 2 and Dune.

You can chek out this one, which is indeed a really good film or you can push your limits further, go deeper down the rabbit hole and watch this real masterpiece of the seventh art:

Sky Sharks

Raya and the Last Dragon

The first trailer was pretty underwhelming but this might be one of the better Disney animations in recent years:

The trailer is very energetic, and the worldbuilding looks very interesting (first South-East Asian cultures inspired animation in Disney's history).

Christopher Lee corrects Peter Jackson on set about what sound to make when getting stabbed in the back.

Hopefully I remember this piece of knowledge for the rest of my life, that way if anybody ever comes behind me and stabs me in the back with a knife, I can recall this Youtube video and attempt to make an 'AHHHHHHH!' sound and perhaps be the first person in recorded history ever to make it while getting stabbed in the back.

Yes, I remember reading about this one, turns out Sir Christopher Lee was special-ops during WW2 and he had first hand experience. I even recall reading the name of his department, “Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare” and thinking, “lol, only the Brits would call it that.”

Watched "The Dig" from Netflix. I sometimes like to watch those "good ol'England" slice of life movies. This one is based on the true events around the excavation of Englands biggest archeological findings - Sutton Hoo treasure.

Solid movie with nice atmosphere and cinematography (+music). Well acted. There were a bit too many parallel threads (especially the one about unfulfilled love of one female character which turned into a romance), but overall the movie was as I expected it to be and that is a good thing. It's not about how good the movie is overall in a "you need to watch it" sense. Its about how well it realizes its premise, and in that regard I think it delivers.

Cinderella Man is my favorite Ron Howard movie. The directing in this movie is awesome, along with everything else. I love the talks when Braddock is in the corner of the ring.

From the movie Admiral. This is my new favorite naval battle. Cutthroat Island is still an underrated movie though.

Old wooden naval ships are so friggin gorgeous looking.
