Yes he was, but that one of the worst interpretations of a comic book villain ever...
I don't read comic books, but apparently Bane is supposed to be one of Batmans most intelligent and physically strongest adversaries.
I think it is an excellent choice, now they have the chance to give batman even more new blood. One thing that interests me though is how are they going to make him non-excessive? I mean so the movie doesn't turn out to be like the old ones, completely exaggerated and ridicules.
But in Nolan we trust...
Personally I had this crazy plan(partly based on rumors) that the third movie would feature The Riddler played by Johnny Depp and The Penguin portrayed by Philip Seymour Hoffman. And the setting would be so, so awesome. With all cool possible twists, but jaja i guess Bane will have to do...
AND YEAH BANE IS GOING TO BE AWESOME!
Very interested in seeing, what connection the Catwoman and Bane will have(hopefully no connection at all)...

*BUMP*
I watch a lot of movies. Probably 95% of them are forgettable. Of the remaining 5% that I would consider "good", very few of them really stick in my head. Action movies are entertaining, sure, but there's nothing thought provoking in even the great ones. And dramas... well, most of them are so chock full of Hollywood cliches and obvious pandering for Academy Awards that they're ultimately forgetable.
Tonight I watched The Stoning of Soraya M., a little known film, banned in Iran, that I picked up on a whim. And I have to say, honestly, that it has been quite some time since I've been affected - no, emotionally moved - by a movie as I have with this one. I also consider myself pretty much numb to anything that might appear on the screen (violence, sex of pretty much any kind hardly affects me anymore). Yet I actually found it difficult to watch the climax of this movie. It was horrible, actually. Absolutely terrible, to imagine that it was a true story. The most horrifying scene in a movie I've ever watched.
This isn't hyperbole. It's actually hard for me to think of much else right now than the way the story played out. It's going to be with me for a while.
Easily one of the best dramas I can remember, if not the best. Truly, the Oscars are a sham - this is the kind of movie that should be garnering awards, and yet nary a sniff by the so-called experts in Hollywood. For shame.

I just read its review and I've to say, as much as thought provoking this movie is, this isn't the kind that I'm going to watch. I can't stand extreme violence - not to mention the father and two sons were also involved in the execution. It suddenly reminded me to a similar scene I watched over on my device recently. Wasn't a movie, just a blurry clip with a strange music in the background, but it didn't fail to convey the message. I tried to calm myself, maybe I missed the context and reason behind the execution. Maybe she's a witch, or a serial killer, or anyone that is believed endangering the society. Heck! Regardless, no human being is deserved to be punished in such manner.
Some places are really way behind in civilization.
____________
But now I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma, a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it.

Death penalty is no different regardless the kind of execution or the country of origin. Since we're talking about movies, I remember watching Lars Von Trier's Dancer in the Dark, and a certain scene had pretty much the same effect.
Anyway, I'm one huge movie buff!
I tried to create a list of the movies I watched and last night, I reached #1842 with adding "Buried". Great movie by the way!
I know I missed a few dozens that watched a long time ago on tv or video, and now I don't even remember their names. Especially movies from my country, which are hard to find listed, in IMDb. I'm aiming to reach 2000 movies real soon. I would have reached it already, if I was not fond just as much on reading books, comics and manga, watching anime and playing video games and ofcourse, listening to music. I'm a big geek! Too little free time, too many hobbies.
I like movies of all kinds, from low budget b movies and indie films to mainstream blockbusters forgettable big hits. Old goldies, art films, and the lowest of the low horror movies that get even more worse with each sequel. I watch them all for what they are!
I consider my favorite to be the Sting with Paul Newman and Robert Redford, because to me, it was the most enjoyable film that I've watched. Other movies I like a lot, include: 7 Samurai, Sunset Blvd, Amelie, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Ikiru, Seppuku, Inherit the Wind, Sleuth, Koyaanisqatsi, Let the right one in, Nosferatu, Brazil, Black Cat White Cat, Night of the Living Dead, This Is Spinal Tap, Braindead, Pink Floyd: The Wall, the Treasure of Sierra Madre, A Streetcar named Desire, and well many, many others.
I'm anxious to watch Black Swan when it comes in the theaters in my country, I'm all hyped up for it! And I really, really, can't wait for "At the Mountains of Madness" movie by Guillermo del Toro based on Lovecraft's book! It's probably going to be one the first good full length movie based on the Cthulhu Mythos and being a big Lovecraft fan, I'm very excited!

Ohh... just found out that Ridley Scott is making a new Alien movie... a prequel...
Apparently it will try to create the same kinda suffocating atmosphere that the first movie had, and possibly answer the mystery of the space jockeys.
Can't ****ing wait. Finally a proper Alien movie.

Did you expect something else out of Hollywood? I'm sure Russian movies during the Cold War featured big bad capitalist America getting defeated by heroic communist Russia, both sides have their legacies of silly propaganda to live down.

Anne Hathaway was an excellent pick. I think she'll do nicely.
Ok, I know I'm officially a month late here, but Ann Hathaway as Catwoman? I did not see that coming. But I actually think she's a great and talented artist, I indeed hope she'll make something awesome as this (and not something as embarrasing as Hale Berry did ).
