I watched Black Swan yesterday. It's one of those curious movies that toes the fine line between sheer brilliance and complete stupidity. I haven't decided which side of the line it falls on when the credits roll.
Also watched the Adjustment Bureau, which was interesting but falls far short of what it could have been. What could have been a very interesting exploration of a very difficult subject ultimately tries too hard to appeal to the romance crowd and ends up as only a very shallow and inept treatment of the free will problem.

Saw Season of the witch (also with Ron Perlman) and it was actually a lot better than I expected. Far from the best medieval movie I've seen, but a lot better than I had originally thought.

I watched Jet Li's fearless and I am rather surprised it got high ratings. It has plenty of flashy fighting and various martial arts to show(armed as well as unarmed fighting) but Jet Li's character is so utterly retarded that you cannot take the story seriously if you wanted to. Oh and the dub is absolutely terrible, I thoroughly enjoyed it

Jet Li is kind of a cruddy actor in general I think. I far prefer Jackie Chan, except he got old and he can't do his stunts like he once did.

Acting is the last thing I was concerned about, the story was that bad Initially it's happy happy, then it tries to make us experience the full weight of terrible tragedy! Except said tragedy was only possible only because of extreme stupidity so it is kind of wasted. After some point I was so bored that I started skipping to the fights.

I remember it looking pretty cool  I'll have to see it anyway for the epic fight scenes. I saw the preview for it a couple years ago and meant to see it but never did.

It got high ratings because it's a Chinese pride movie, so Chinese people sings its praises and rate it highly while other people go 'meh' and don't bother.

Just watched Ironclad, was surprised that the Danes speak Hungarian, what surprised me even more however was that their pronounciation was rather good actually.  .
Taking note of the fact that this is the first film I've seen that this is the case  .

Bought two movies today.
Just watched Predators and **** yeah, now that's an action flick
I just love the Predator culture... I mean usually people image aliens as either complete monsters or über-sophisticated laza-blasting geniuses... but Predators just go medieval for the lulz.
"Yeah I got dem mini-nukes and dem plasma-pews, but imma just stab you with this blade instead. Just cuz it's so satisfying."
Badassery.
Also bought Thirst. Gonna watch it later... really love the director so should be good.

I thought the first one was passable :/
The 2nd one pretty much guaranteed that there will not be a 3rd Alien vs Predator.
Predators was really good. I loved the intro and how everybody had to figure out what the hell was going on as they went.

I actually thought the second AVP was a vast improvement over the first one.

AVP 2 was the second movie that made me wonder why I watched it - first being hostel. It felt so pointless, so empty. Considering it dealt with a veteran predator it had all the makings to be awesome but it just didn't work for me. I rather liked the first though.

Well they were both pointless.
However, the first one was rated PG13, which was just criminal IMO. The first one also made no sense as far as timeline was concerned (seriously, they're like attacked by face huggers and then 1 hour later there are full grown aliens running around? Did the screenwriters even watch the original alien movies?). Finally, two of the three predators died in like the first two minutes of confrontation - major disappointment. And finally, what's with one of the predators becoming like best friends with the human? WTF was that? Oh, here's a spear for you, let's be friends and fight together! I half expected a love scene before the movie was over. Major Predator fail.
Nah, special effects of the first one were cool, but the writing was stupid to the point of silly. Second one was brainless violence and recycled plot, but at least there was... well, violence. 2nd one felt like it should have been - humans getting caught in a giant pissing contest between aliens and predators.

I thought the first AVP was okay because I thought the rich dude that was dying of a heart condition was a really cool character. I didn't realize the lore on the Aliens was wrong, as I watched the Alien movies when I was like 10, and I'm more of a Predator fanboy.
The best Predator of all time is still the underrated Predator 2 in my eyes The mix of drug lords, street warfare, sex, gung-ho cops, and a Predator was just awesome. And the scene at the end of AVP where the elder predator gave the black chick a spear was a repeat at the end of Predator 2, when one of the Predators gave Danny Glover a colonial-era pistol at the end.

I just took it as a token of respect. That she proved herself in the predator's eyes. Embarrassing as this is, I have not seen the alien movies yet so I didn't watch it through a fan's eyes.
