laaaaaawl, I watched the Expendables 2. It was so funny seeing Jean Claude as a villain.

That was hilarious

I watched the man from nowhere, Korean action film. It kind of resembles taken, dark and stylish except not as awesome. It features kali or silat though is more plot-driven than martial art driven. The protagonist is not a martial artist himself and the director occasionally tries to hide it by skipping stuff though he handles himself pretty well in the final fight. Sweet slicing action ^^
Quote:
Bin Won is a relentless assassin, and in one knife fight he is slicing armpits and wrists rather than going for easy stabbings.

For those who've seen mortal kombat conquest, the actor of Kung Lao was not a martial artist either and neither was Shang Tsung, his nemesis. Amusingly, Siro that always seemed to suck actually knew how to fight The second season of MK legacy should start soon, can't wait.

Merantau also looks promising.

Yeah, me neither. The thing is in the old days there were heroes and then there were anti-heroes. Some people tend to think an anti-hero is a villain but no, he's still a hero with many character flaws, Spider-man is a perfect example, so is Dirty Harry or Sherlock Holmes. Anyway, as time went by the hero without the "anti" part started to bore people. He was hard to identify with, full of cliches, he never surprised the reader (or watcher) and he didn't have much character depth. So in today's world almost every hero is an anti-hero anyway. Try to think of a modern day hero without any flaws, I can't come up with one. The classical hero even has a funny effect on people. So Superman belongs to another age, kryptonite alone does not do it.

Oh no, Superman is actually the deepest of them all, although I agree he can be harder to relate to than Spider-Man (who is an everyman).

First, Supes is an alien, an immigrant if you will - a person doing his best to fit in. He is a man of two worlds, one who won't discard his heritage but longs for acceptance in his adopted homeland. It's a fascinating topic.

Second, there's his dual nature - he is both a god and a man. He is virtually untouchable, but it can also be yet another feature that alienates him from the people around him. Being the most powerful sometimes also means being the loneliest. Furthermore, Superman could have ruled the world, being nearly omnipotent... However, he has chosen to fight for Truth and Justice (and the American way). Thus he is an authentic American hero, its champion and symbol. Supes fights gangsters, Nazis and commies aliens for us. His only dilemma is whether to solve all the mankind's problems by himself or lead by example and be the world's inspiration. Sounds familiar?

Then there's his secret identity. Almost schizo, right? Is he Clark Kent, who becomes Superman (like every one of his readers would want to)? Or is he actually Superman, a hero who invented a clumsy reporter because he had to show his vulnerable side?

Finally, there are ethical questions; for example, Wolverine and Batman kill, but Superman doesn't. A moral imperative that shouldn't be overlooked in a culture of violence, a country that wages wars and practices capital punishment.

I am a little curious about movie a friend told me about.

Three women and some guys with them came separately to some house in the woods IIRC and they tell each other their stories, which make them realize they come from different times(the viewer later understands they are related).

Does anyone knows what is the title?

@Vlad

Well, it is that godly, flawless part that makes him boring to me. He is too much of an example, even if you analyze Clark Kent like the Tarantino speech in Kill Bill. I always preferred anti-heroes with some darkness in them. I'll take Dostoyevski over Charles Dickens any day. Btw, I just watched the movies from the early eighties and a few comics here and there, since he bored me.

Super-description...and last comment, Vlaad

I think any character type can be cliché these days, so what matters to me is that the Hero is well-written; even if a Hero usually chooses the right paths, that shouldn't eliminate the struggles of making them, the occasional wrong choice for a right reason or the RL reality when multiple choices are fairly-equal yet only one can be chosen.

As a boy I often thought it really cool when Clark was belittled for one reason or another and he held his tongue and just smiled; <imo> even small stuff like that be quite compelling and, as you said, even counter the cultural-norm.

i have been anticipating this movie ever since i found out about the hobbit series coming back. i was a huge fan of the hobbit cartoon smaug. now i get to see the dragon in action.

just one thing bothers me, watching that trailer. i hope that is just first edits, and not the complete cgi-edited stuff, because i saw so much blatant cgi in that trailer, i almost don't want to see the movie now. few things turn me off of a movie like poorly-done cgi.

they had better not screw this up. the cgi in that trailer reminded me of the cookie-cutter cgi from "oz the great and powerful". when i watched that movie, and(in the end credits) saw how many cgi artists they had(that were responsible, along with the editors), i wanted to go to hollywood, and bring a flamethrower.

Hm weird

I seen new and old I Spit On Your Grave even if one German movie show a real but I Spit On Your Grave is more raw and used psychology study hour or in the 1970 the Dutch were watch for I Spit On Your Grave. Statistic indicate good result in Holland! I sold or demolish VHS, much later on I bought Extremities (1986) DVD! Hm actress was Farrah Fawcett just snow woman in movie, she got Golden Globe. Usual movie but good as an example! If you like psychology movies, what I knew one movie is One flew over the cuckoo's nest in the 1975, actor is Jack Nicholson and movie got 5 Oscar award! I has DVD.. Who could be ache in head so view Ken Park! One love & anarchy movie class have good hm in final scene!
I bought always best movies for possible childs view movies just thinking example! Ghost movies aren't learn from thing - depend on what! I can't say what isn't exist so a true story could be good.
If I write more weird movies here, you know that weird thing isn't more when too young can't still.. But in Finland hasn't those movies
