I watched the Iceman, based on the life story of hitman Richard Kuklinski, it was an okay movie. When I did some google research after the movie I came to the conclusion they nerfed the guy a little so the audience can feel at least a little identification with the main character. Still, it was not a totally BS movie and I recommend watching it on an empty evening.

I can't believe Iron Sky only has 6 / 10 on Imdb. It's a hilarious critique against the US. Nazis on the moon - just watch it!
I just love that Sarah Palin very obviously is the president. Also, amazing CGI.

watched Iron Man 3. basically a refurbished chewed out version of The Dark Knight Rises. Completely maimed Mandarin who is just a stupid drug addict actor, and the real willain is all ima firing mah lazor burny crapp explosively kinda deranged scientist. probably the worst of the franchise, not ever the acting of Robert Downey Jr helps it. just another massive b!tchslap and a spit in the face for the whole fans.

Iron Man from 2008 is easily the best of the three, but I still like both of the sequels as easy and fun popcorn flicks and nothing else.

I agree, Mickey Rourke was great. But it seemed too much like a commerical for The Avengers than an Iron Man films.

Shutter Island is probably my most favourite film of all time. Everything's just so perfectly executed, all lines lead up to the climax of the film that there's so much discussion on. You cah watch it a countless amount of times and still find something new. And the atmosphere! I really can't find ANY flaws with it. 10/10 gonna force the teacher to make us see it in psychology class.

The picture fred uploaded here reminded me of a question I had in mind. About two years ago, I downloaded this movie called The Divide, it's about some survivors trapped in a shelter after some nuclear attack. As days pass by and resources run short, they slowly turn into savages. Don't let the IMDB score fool you, it's not a bad movie. Anyway, the thing is, just around the same time I also watched Midnight in Paris by Woody Allen and you know the guy travels in time back to 1920's Paris and meets Hemingway, Picasso, Bunuel etc etc. One of the jokes in Allen's movie was, the hero tips Bunuel about a future movie of Bunuel himself. He says something like "I have an idea, imagine a group of people trapped in a room and they can't go out, and once that happens their urges take over and they see themselves for what they are without civilization: Animals." Bunuel keeps asking "but why can't they go out?"

So I was like, aha, they ripped the idea from Bunuel! I tried all sorts of google searching but I couldn't find what the original Bunuel movie was called. The IMDB summaries did not help either. I know this is a shot in the dark but does anybody know what it's called? I want to see it.

Since I f£$%ed up my back quite badly at work I've got some free time to watch some movies.

The Expendables 2. My opinion hasn't changed. something my dad would absolutely love to watch. still the end fight between Stallone and Van Dame was awesome. as was the Jackie Chanesque fight that Jet Li put on at the beginning.

Oblivion: well... There are better sci-fi's around there... we wants more epic battles with blaster fire and motherbeeping chainswords! or lightsabers. or plain swords. whichever. Making a live action "Deathstalker" adaptation would be awesome.

I just watched Elephant. Such an interesting film. It feels meaningless but I believe it has a point when related to the subject it treats: We can't comprehend these people. Mostly, the film feels like an amusement park ride of tension. And it's one of those rides that are fun to experience once, but not a second time. Seriously, the film could have been 15 minutes long and nothing of value would have been lost. In fact, I feel that it had a lot of excessive scenes. We didn't need to get to "know" the villains at all. We didn't need subtle criticism against gun laws. 6/10

I watched the latest Star Trek movie and liked it. However, I never watched the original ones (I have this long delayed plan to watch them all at once) and in IMDB user reviews, fans of the Shatner/Nimoy movies see this one as an abominaton, they are especially furious about Spock fighting like an action hero and they say the franchise is dumbed down.

Star Trek (the television show) was always pretty cerebral with not much emphasis at all on action. The movies have always been different, catering to a somewhat different audience. I enjoyed the last Star Trek movie. It was better than most of the TNG movies.  But it wasn't really comparable to the TNG episodes, which were really catering to a different kind of audience.

Watched Django unchained. A great film though to be honest I was somewhat confused about who the main actor was, surely Django since the title is his bloody name, but I felt that Cristoph's Dr Waltz character was far more deserving of the role of protagonist, being fleshed out far more during the course of the movie, and being overall far more enjoyable, while at the same time Django was obscure. I felt somewhat the same while watching Inglorious Basterds. (that's how it's spelt)

The new ST movies are not really comparable to the Shatner/Nimoy era to me. It's not that JJ's films are bad ,they are enjoyable, but the original films seem to be more true to Star Trek. The new films reminded me too much of the Star Wars prequels.
