I'm actually 974 years old man actually. Philosopher's stone works wonders. I still say it's hidden around in Egypt though.
so yea, up yours.
Basically what everyone is overhyped about that film is one of it's songs. Seemed pretty generic for me. nothing special.

just watched anchorman 2. i was not disappointed. in my opinion, it was just as good as the first one. i can see how some might think it was a direct ripoff/rehash of the first movie, but to me, it wasn't so much of a repeat, than it was a reverent sequel. there was enough new material to satisfy, and they didn't leave the classiness of the original behind.

Standard Hollywood way of thinking, if something gets liked, make a bigger, faster, stronger version of it until it makes no sense at all and people start puking. The original news crew battle was hilarious.

the "tide" of zombies was good for a laugh. i couldn't take the film seriously, i took it as more of a b-movie camp film. still entertaining, though.

I understand where you are coming from there my friend, the whole zombie theme is a little over used these days and the story was a little far fetched. However i found it very entertaining and thought it was very well executed.

The Wolf of Wall Street... Frankly the only thing that makes this movie distinguishable is the directing. Leonardo's acting is good too (the guy is way past his half-brat-half-gay period) but in all honesty he has had better roles (Blood Diamond is still unmatched). Everything else is a huge cliché. Money, drugs, sex, bunch of idiots suddenly thinking that they are great and immortal, Wall Street crap... nothing new really.

@Zenofex
I thought it was his best since the Goodfellas and the Aviator. The story is true, btw.
@Sandman
So you think Ender's Game was bad AND you think World War Z had a great plot... And here I am blaming Hollywood!
World War Z was not as bad as some people complain but it didn't have much of a plot, really.

Yeah, I know that it's based on the main character's autobiographic novel. That's probably why it didn't get me, the guy's life is a cliché, as is he. Scorsese managed to present the whole thing quite well but the material that he had to work with is just not my cup of tea.

Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom was more like a summary than a movie with dramatic elements. Even at moments I should have been moved, I felt like I was reading an article in an encyclopedia. Great material wasted away.

It had character development, a good twist in the end, questions about humanity and morality, which is a whole lot more than WWZ. Dont get used to dumbed down pictures.

I don't think you should be comparing those two films as they aren't even the same genre
And by the way the so called twist in Enders game could be seen a mile away, that is if you could stop yourself from falling asleep whilst watching all the kids doing their boring training and waiting for the action to start, which of course never really does. Then again i suppose someone would find the 'character development' interesting if they were 12 years old. Maybe Nickelodeon or Disney should of produced it
I'm sorry but Enders game is so lame i can't believe you think it is above all the other Hollywood snow out there, i guess we will have to agree to disagree.

I'm comparing them based on your idea of a "great plot." Just because there are kids, doesn't make it Disney. Ender's Game had an original idea and an unexpected twist (sorry, but you are just saying the twist was obvious because you switched to debate mode, I am known for catching even unexpected twists and this one was not expected). You talk like you always expect hard-action from Sci-Fi, which is the case with most people these days. That's what I mean by getting used to dumbed down stuff. Sci-fi, originally is the perfect allegorical/metaphorical platform for philosophical questions like who are we, what is our place in the universe, what happens to our cultural codes when the environment or the conditions radically change, etc etc... If you go back a few pages on this thread, you'll see that I've already written that's why I liked it, it's old school sci-fi, it contemplates on problems about humanity, it's not just a fest of exploding spaceships and laser beams. WWZ was okay, but it was just standard Hollywood formula, without the big budget, WWZ is not so much different than any other average zombie movie.(The original book, on the other hand is quite political they say, but I haven't got to it yet. In both cases, fans of the books generally say the movies were not successful at delivering the original material's depth. But that's often the case in book to film adaptations.)

Yes Enders game did have an original idea but the film makers did not portray this very well at all. Just because you didn't see the twist coming doesn't mean it was well concealed it just means YOU didn't see it. I don't always expect hard action from sci-fi but i do expect a film to be entertaining (i must say you do like to presume things about people). I have read your previous posts on this film and did you also note that others did not like the film either
I think you are adding more depth to a film than is actually there. Don't get me wrong i like films that ask questions about life, morality, ethics etc but it needs to be well executed. I found most of the film was aimed at a younger audience that it why i joked about Disney
I think we should stop debating this as we are getting nowhere and this is not the OSM. Thank you for your opinions, much appreciated.
