Supernatural, Paranormal, or ...
Paranormal phenomena, the supernatural, ESP, alien spacecraft sightings. Mankind has contemplated some of these things for as long as they could think (or just about), yet are still looking for answers. There are skeptics, true believers, and everything in between. This thread will try to explore what we as members of HC believe.
Did aliens really land at Roswell? Can people see into the future (even if only sporotically)? Do spooks, spectres, and/or free form apparitions exsist? How do you explain Di Vinci's blueprints? Was Nostradamus either just really lucky or just vague enough that he couldn't help but be correct? Perhaps he was a ligitimate prophet that could see into the future?
Let us leave the subject of god(s) to other threads for there are plenty of those already discussing that matter. Does every myth have a grain of truth?

First one: Yes, I believe there are aliens in Roswell and I believe there are aliens in general.
Second one: Yes. I dunno if this counts but I've dreamt things that have happened in the future to me. When the event occurs, it feels like I've been in that situation before and then I remember that I dreamt it a few days ago, sometimes even months or years ago.

Or maybe angels are aliens with old equipment? Conspiracy?
I don't believe in ghosts or pirates or anything else of your nonsense! I believe only in FACTS and HISTORY that can be PROVED WITH EVIDENCE and DOCUMENTARIES like World War 1 and Chernobyl and the Battle at Helms Deep.
All the rest is fiction, and fiction is for people who read, and if you read you are a NERD! I for one never learned to read because I'm cool

Father, I suggest you to go see a shrink about those "Ghosts".Ghosts can not exist.I'll explain even if it'll complicate all more.Your brain isn't the thing you think with, it's what you're.You're not your whole body you're just controling it.So..how come something with no brain or a core that leads it's body can exist? They say you can past through ghosts so..if they had brains, or any core thingie that leads their bodies, it'll drop down to the floor from their transparent head.
P.S Baklava is not a tasty food for me.
uh..and..baklava did u mean Obi Van Kenoby when u said gay jedi? I've nothing offensive against him but I think Family Guy does.

Good. One less person to worry about.
And no matter how tempting it is, I am not going to discuss Obi Van Kenoby's sexuality in a thread about ghosts. xD

LOOL
Ghosts don't have a "body", they aren't zombies!
Ghosts don't have a "brain" either (zombies don't have brains either )
Also my bed doesn't have a brain, so does it mean it doesn't exist? Wow I always knew it was an illusion

Here comes some hard facts: Ghosts consist of chemical element called ectoplasm that is similar to air so we can walk through them, but it is cold so that's why people get chills when ghosts are nearby. Also, ectoplasm atoms tend to compound with each other when they meet so that's how they form a single character, and when there are multiple ghosts they unify to one superghost.
UFOs are not rare these days either because modern youngsters can't distinguish an eagle from a hawk so basically they are UFOs.

Often people dismiss these things because they are either impossible to reproduce, or at the very least hard to varify. Add to this people who con others with tricks, and it is understandable why people do not believe.
When somebody happens apon a genuine paranormal phenomena it is by pure luck. In the exact right place, in the exact right time, and other factors that happen to line up perfectly. Factor in the fact that they are unaware of any other factors, the odds of reproducing the event become astronomical for the most part.
Like Father, I too have had personal experiences with unusual things in my life. I've had dreams that came true, seen things before they happened, and came in close personal contact with a free form ectoplasmic entity. The day before the doctors told my family that my brother had cancer, I had already told them not only that he had it but what kind. No research on the issue, nor any way I should have known.
Several times in my life I have gone to various people and told them things and then those things happen. One of my uncles committed suicide when I was 15. He was hundreds of miles (maybe thousands) away, and before anybody told me about it I informed my mother. When she got the call about his suicide the first thing she asked me was how I knew. I had no answer for her, because I just knew.
Now there are somethings I am skeptical about. Aliens in Area 51 (or alien craft). Roswell. Psychics who claim they can turn it on and off at will. Mediums. Just to name a few.
People will scoff, disbelieve, and maybe question my sanity. I wish it was something I could control to prove what I say. Unforutnately all I have are my own experiences, which I know are real.

Corribus, I was hoping you would stop by . Perhaps you can answer some questions for me. First, do you believe man has went to the moon? If so I have a hypothetical question for you. Assuming a cosmic event makes future moon trips impossible, would you then argue that we never went to the moon in the first place?

What I really wish is that people would stop asking absurd hypothetical questions to prove a point. "If you were a ghost, would you believe in the supernatural?"
Of course some hypothetical questions seem to be less absurd than others, but still.
Quote: Assuming a cosmic event makes future moon trips impossible, would you then argue that we never went to the moon in the first place?
Assuming the polar caps melt completely, would you argue they were never there in the first place?
Of course men went to the moon.
I wonder what your point is?
-------------------------------------------------------------------
"Supernatural" is a pretty silly word, actually. Every phenomenon is basically natural. Some can be explained, some not. This has been so for since men exist. There was a time when a lightning was "supernatural".
Rephrase the question: Do you believe that there are things and phenomena that science cannot explain currently?
In this case you'll get as near a 100% yes answers as it gets.
So, what exactly is a "ghost" supposed to be? Something like a mirage, but not of space but of time? An "entity" made of "ektoplasm"? An immaterial, extra-dimensional "spirit" or "soul" that kindred (biologically living) spirits or souls can "feel" with their own extra-dimensionality while the brain concocts a fitting "image"?
So the question isn't whether you believe in the supernatural - everyone basically does. The question is, what phenomena are there that cannot be explained currently? And here it gets problematic.
Let's take UFO sightings. The name means "Unidentified Flying Object". It's not called ASS as in "Alien Space Ship". So even IF there are real UFO sightings that deserve all 3 of the abbrevation letters, ASS is just a highly unlikely stab into the dark. For all sightings of "illuminated" UFOs the simple explanation is: falling star. Depending on the substances - what kind of cosmic debris as a chemical compound - their velocity and the angle when entering the atmosphere, virtually every effect may happen, and possibly every color may show as well, with the right stuff burning and vaporizing.
The same is true for ghosts. Are there "real" "sightings"? If we answer, yes, let's assume it, we still are not much further: "ghost" isn't necessarily "purposefully acting immaterial entitiy with unfulfilled business". "Ghost" may mean a lot of things.
Extra Sensory Perception is not different either (I've made a thread about that myself).
