After the signing of Benteke to my club, I dunno how I feel.
Sort of happy but have my reservations. He's a proven goalscorer in the premier league, that's a given. He's a much needed improvement over Balotelli but I'm just not sure if he will play to our system. I don't want him to be an Andy Carroll which I keep thinking he MIGHT be. He played in a team which played to his strengths, a team that crossed the ball in a hell of a lot. We crossed the ball in the second least amount of times last season with only Swansea doing less than us.
On the upside, he's now going to be playing with Coutinho and Firmino (who I believe is going to kill it) feeding him the ball. I reckon we'll play a 433 with Benteke as our Target Man and I reckon when Sturridge comes in OR if Ings plays quite well, we should go to our very successful 442 diamond with Benteke up front along with Ings or Sturridge. With Milner coming to our club and having played well in the pre season friendlies so far as well as Clyne in the RB, I do have a good feeling for this coming season.
Out of all of our signings and from what I have seen so far, can't comment on Firmino or Benteke yet because they haven't played with us yet, you know who I have been thoroughly impressed by? Young Joe Gomez, our 3 million signing from Charlton. He's an intelligent defender and if he keeps up the good work as he has been (I know it's only pre season but Sakho made me very nervous whereas Gomez never did), I'd love to see Gomez alongside Skrtel in the centreback position or even rotating with Moreno on the left back.
Regardless of all that, I was hoping for someone that was more suited to our system but I suppose I have to have faith in Rodgers and Benteke otherwise I'd just be one of those plastic fans who turn on the club when the going gets tough.
I am actually quite excited about this coming season. I reckon anything less than Champions League or even a title challenge and this season will be deemed a failure. We have an incredibly hard run at the start especially with our first 7 away games. If we aren't doing well I could very well see Rodgers getting the sack and potentially Jurgen Klopp becoming the next Liverpool manager, which I wouldn't mind seeing to be honest.

The attacking midfielder seems to be the position where you might be a bit thin. A few bad injuries there and you can play counter football all year long(again).
I think Milner can make a big difference in this squad(for better or for worse). He kind of reminds me of a certain Mark van Bommel. The kind of guy who knows when to stomp on the opponent but otherwise still pretty good if not the fastest. Emre Can can learn a thing or two by playing alongside him. A Can/Henderson/Milner midfield should make the team more stable. Btw what kind of pre-season did Can have since he played in the U21 cup?
As for Klopp, I have a hunch he will end up at PSG.

Except for group D, those WC groups looks pretty obvious to me. Poor Sweden in group A though, only one of the stronger teams that probably won't go. The dutch and especially french probably aren't too happy either. There'll be 2 teams from each group going through right?

Nah, the attacking midfielder position is one we have a bit of depth in. Milner, Coutinho, Firmino, Ibe, Teixera to name a few can all play in that position. One we lack depth in is the LB position but apparently we're interested in Lucas Digne from PSG. He's young like Moreno is but more cover in that position is something I would not say no to.
Can played really well in his natural position of a central midfield role. He is a beast and I no longer want him to play in a defenders position. Not that he plays it badly, but he is a formidable player when in the centre of the park. Emre Can had a break, like Coutinho and Firmino did. All three of them, including Benteke as well, looked sharp in training when they all came back at the same time.

MUHAAA!
Good results.
Got most of the results alright even if not all the scores.
I don't even thik it is needed to explain why City fail at this point.
United will eventually get rolling but expect atleast half a season of mediocre boring ball posession heavy and innefective shuffling on the field before thigs start to click with Van Gaal.
