'Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that."

- Bill Shankly

I hope Arsenal don't make the same mistake MU did with the next manager. But even if they do, I hope that Wenger haters will be satisfied He has been devoted to this club, sacking him would not have solved anything.

There are hundreds of Bill Shankly quotes that I could name. Man was a legend and helped build what we eventually became...a powerhouse in European and domestic football. As soon as we got rid of the infamous Boot Room, thanks to Souness when he was manager, it all went downhill and we haven't won a title since. I'm sure we will win one under Klopp but he needs to be given time to build his own team rather than using Rodgers crap team that he left him.

I think Arsenal will get a good manager. Pep would be good for them. Personally, I'd love to see Pep manage a poor side and see if he really is a great manager or one of those managers who is good at rich clubs only. Then we'd see what he is really made of.

Klopp has a pretty rough start with the team. It will probably take him 3-4 years to make Liverpool a titlewinning side. But that is not common in the PL. If Liverpool give him that time then I will like them but they didn't give that time to Brendon Rodgers and he was a good manager so not much hope there atm.

Pep would be a horrible manager at Arsenal. He can't stay put at a single club because he is "constantly looking for a new challenge". No club loyalty not even with Barca. He said staying at Barca for the 4th year was a mistake and will leave Bayern after 3 years as well. Let him move to ManCity. They won't wil the CL either way.
I have a hunch that when when Arsene retires they will get someone nobody knows and will come from the Belgian 3rd division or something. Arsene himself was pretty much a nobody in england when he arrived.

They gave all the time in the world to Rodgers. At the start of his reign he said, and I quote "Judge me in Three years". All he did in those three years was get 2nd but that was more due to Suarez and Sturridge lifting the team on their shoulders. We saw what happened when Suarez left with us finishing sixth which isn't too bad but considering the heights we reached in getting 2nd, we could have done one better. It didn't help that we lost out on Sanchez with the location being a factor in that one and we never got an adequate replacement for Suarez. Very hard I know because of the player that he is but we could have got anybody better than Balotelli and then having Sterling as our striker when Sturridge was injured. I'd have rather tried out an academy player than have Sterling as our striker and we deservedly finished sixth.

It also did not help the situation that, considering we hadn't been in CL in years, the first time in years that we are in it and we got bundled out of it not even making it past group stages. What a waste of time. Rodgers got given all the time AND money he needed and he made our team so mediocre it's not funny. It will take a while for Klopp to get rid of all the deadwood and make us truly great again. I believe he will do it. I have confidence in the man and his assistants that he brought over with him. I also love him because of his constant laughing and his press conferences. His latest one for the FA Cup was a pisser.

As for Pep, he would suit Arsenal in getting them short term success but for the long term he definitely isn't their man. Wenger was also a good manager before Arsenal at As Monaco I believe. Not that the French League is any good mind you. One of the poorer ones considering PSG were 19 points clear at Christmas. Talk about crap competition.

All I know about B. Rodgers is that he had great success in turning Swansea into the best welsh side there is, but that being said, turning a team from bad into able to survive and get a very good (for their standard) position in PM is completely different from taking a team that is already huge (or at least expects to be) and keep them at the "world" top.

So I've no doubt Rodgers is good at what he did in Swansea, but I don't think it necessarily translates into him being able to be good with a top side.

Also remember not only the results matters, also how well you play.. and there is also lots of other weird stuff. E.g. take Rodgers overtaker, Laudrup. He had great results with Swansea their first year, perhaps even better than the best results Rodgers got, yet got sacked the following year.. Now Laudrups overtaker in Swansea is about to get sacked too (if he didn't already)..

Garry Monk has already been sacked by Swansea and I think that was a wrong decision.

Turning Swansea into the best Welsh side is hardly an achievement considering there's hardly any competition for that. He did turn them into a slightly lower than mid table team. He is a mid table manager very much in the same vein as David Moyes who couldn't hack it at Man Utd though, to be fair, he was left with an average squad who played their hearts out for SAF who got the best out of what he had and what Moyes couldn't do.

Guardiola has had results, but considering the circumstances and the quality of the players he had, how could he not ? And not long ago, even Bayern's chairman commented that he was turning them into "unwatchable". Some might like tiki-taka, some might like the glory, but when all is said and done, I am not all that impressed with HIM. The teams, especially the Barca side, I guess, but not his managing.

And while Wenger bashers love to use the "no trophies" card, but if you can support a team only when they are winning, then don't pretend to support it when they're not.

And may I remind you that Arsenal have had to pay for their new stadium, and under Wenger they have qualified for the UCL and knockout stage? And that they lost in '06 under 10-men circumstances and because of H. Larsson? And that they haven't finished below 4th in the PL despite major players choosing to chase glory and $$$ ?

I don't think I'd like Guardiola as manager of Arsenal. I think Klopp did well at coming to LFC. The 1. Bundesliga became once again a one-team show and Dortmund could no longer compete with the Bavarian goliath.

As for Rodgers, I agree he was better for a mid-table team and I didn't follow the team that closely in his last months, but it's a crime that you didn't win in THAT season in which Suarez and Sturridge were scoring like crazy.

We are now over 2/3s of the season done and Leicester City are still at the top of the table, 5 points ahead of their opposition. I am impressed

Can't say the same for Zidane's Madrid tho. Will we even get beyond Roma in CL?

Wenger used Welbeck and he did it again. But how many times can we hope to be that lucky... will Tottenham's run continue?

For CL I am afraid that not even Cech can hold out against the Catalans. Not with the defenders we have anyway.

Let's see how Zlatan team does against Chelsea after Mourinho left the Bridge

Not terribly interested in the other match ups for this week...

And Juventus somehow is back to the top of the Serie A. I wonder if they can hold on to Pogba or sell him like they did Vidal.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see a 7-1 or so scoreline in Arsenal game. Barça is just on another level, unreal.

What's more real and mundane is RM defence, with Bale MIA and Zidane being so inexperienced as a manager I can't say I'm confident in reached the Round of 8. Roma won't be an easy opponent for them, it should be a close match (unless RM starts to smash them in quickly ).

Real will probably sleepwalk past Roma. There is that big of a gap despite Zidane being manager.

Arsenal will probably keep a tight defense and only let about 3 in.
It's the lame offense that is the problem. Sanchez is still not at his best, Rambo is being Rambo and god do we miss Cazorla. Özil can't carry us alone. Walcott and Ox are dead weight.

And Chelsea are gonna get spanked real hard. It's not even funny.
OK, I lied. I'm gonna enjoy evey moment of them losing horribly.

Roma are terribly unlucky...faced Barcelona in the group stage and now RM. But then I see Arsenal got Barca when we could have got Wolfsburg, so nevermind

So PSG and Benfica win, but these scores aren't decisive by any means, one goal difference with Chelsea also having scored an away goal. That leads to interesting second legs.

PSGette a cut above, sometimes crumbly but superior. Tit for tat, like two boxers on a ring, Chelsea put one knee to the ground. Outdoor goal holds a slight hope for Chelsea, but they need to save their season. They will give it all they got into the battle. PSGette will win.
