It sound interesting... but why? We already have Euro and qualifications for it. Isnt that enough? Its maybe better idea if they start something like mini-euro cup where not qualificated nations may play. Something like League Europa on national level.

Real Madrid on a 18 game winning streak, matches Frank Rijkaard's Barça record done in 2005-06...and Cristiano, with a hat-trick, reaches 200 goals in 178 la Liga matches. Damn!

Liverpool had to win at home against Basel to go through.
Liverpool had 1 point more against Ludogorets than Basel had, but Basel won at home against Liverpool. So if Liverpool won, they'd be tied for points and the Ludogorets games would be decisive, but if Liverpool did not win, then the +1 point from their Ludogorets encounters compared to Basel's aren't worth anything when Basel was already at +3 on Liverpool.
Observations:
Olympiakos group:
The Greeks started fantastic by winning at home against Atl. Madrid creating a huge pressure on Juventus, but then they lost away against Malmö and from that point we can actually see Juventus had the qual in their palm, all they needed was a draw against Atl. Madrid (assuming Atl. Madrid won their home game against the Greeks) and otherwise play even (goal score didn't even matter) against the Greeks themselves.
So Olympiakos may have won collectively over 2/3 opponents, but because Malmö gave so many points away, not winning against Malmö was actually worse than winning at home against Atl. Madrid was good! Funny to consider in my opinion, better to be stable than make sensations if you want to go through.
Leverkusen was already through before todays game, so it was between Monaco and Zenit in Monaco. I'm glad that Monaco have shown they're still a class team, but in my opinion this was probably the weakest group together with group H. I don't think Monaco or Leverkusen can match what comes next, unless they get lucky draws.
Funny to consider that all Liverpool had to do to qualify was to win at home against Basel, a team not particularly famous CL wise yet.
On the other hand, M. City has to win away against Roma to qualify and still end better than CSKA.. meaning CSKA may not win against Bayern. While M. City is favorite and Bayern too, the odds for M. City going through chance to have been lower than for Liverpool going through in my opinion.
Schalke's draw against Chelsea may prove crucial, but if Sporting can repeat the feat they're better from their two games and will go through.

That's a very nice and orderly way you've written it SG.
Edit: You predict Bilbao will lose? Well I guess they're not really a part of Spain...
