Especially Guardiola who straight out refused to change his "favourite" team in the first half of the season.

I would say Ancelotti is even worse. During the first half he always played with the same team, BBC + Modric, James and Kroos.
Only when Modric got injured when playing for Croatia, Isco was added to the starting 11. Only when Benzema got injured in March, Chicharito got playing time.
And the rest? Jesé, Lucas Silva, Illaramendi, etc? You don't see them playing.

Ancelotti failed at rotating this season, and the team suffered from that when it mattered (2nd half of the season).

Too bad nobody cares about the Europa League.
The rewards for participating are simply not enough for most of the footballing elite compared with a more tiring season in the league where they fight for Champions League places. The only one from the top leagues that is actually trying is Sevilla. The EL seriously needs better marketing and TV money.

Other then that the new FIFA16 cover is outl.

Isn't that why the EL winners now get a CL spot? Making the competition very worthwhile for even stronger teams I imagine.

I guess he means the economic rewards aren't worthy enough for all the extra matches they have to play.

Just check their prizepools: Champions League vs Europa League

Not even close...

Well I'll eat my non-existant hat. He did resign. I wonder what kind of dirt the police dug up on him...
Now hat he's gone let the wild speculation begin.
Who will replace him? Will the Quatar World Cup still take place? How many hours will it take for Putin to blame it all on the West?

The fact that Blatter still won after the arrests speaks volumes about FIFA. I can't be optimist for the mid-long term....

I don't think there has ever been a player who chokes as much as Higuaín, my god...

Nope, there isn't. Higuain, Di Maria and Kun should have been benched. Tevez should have played. I don't understand why sometimes they favor players that play in Europe regardless of the rough patch they are going through. Mancuello should have been in the team, as it's the only replacement for Di Maria; Lavezzi just doesn't fit in Martino's idea of the team.

A lot of "should have" as always with Argentina

I don't think Higuain was perculiarly bad. May great players had had penalties like these. Beckham, Sweinsteiger, Benzema, Robben just to name a few memoarable ones.
The miss during the game was not really that bad imho, it would have had to be something really special to put that one away.
The real wonder is how on earth is a team so stuffed with attacking talent so short on goals. They are obviously good enough at defending but they just can't break down well organized opponents.

That said Chile played a great game. Sanchez is such a great player. To keep up that tempo during the 120 minutes is extraordinary. I hope his performance won't suffer much next season.

Yeah, but it's not only the penalty with Higuain. It's an overall performance in decisive matches. But people could argue the same with Messi on the national team, i'm argentinian btw and i'm sick of watching them fail

There is a saying...something like..."way too many chieftains and way too little indians"

It isn't a new thing either. Back when he was at Real sure he scored a nice amount of goals in la Liga, but he was simply atrocious in CL, 8 goals in 48 matches across 6 seasons...playing as striker for RM ffs.

Then you add the WC final blunder, this season pen miss in the CL spot deciding match against Lazio...he just crumbles in the big matches.

The same could be said about Agüero. Failing miserably each year in the CL with ManCity and a no-show at the WC and only scored 1 more at the Copa then Higuain.
Agüero is a great striker and Higuain still has it in him to become great as well so I belive that it has to be the coaching staff that that can't make things work.(I' still LOLing at the fact that Argentina actually appointed Maradona as head coach)
If there are too many players for the same positions then leave half of them at home and try out some new talent for the missing positions. I honestly belive they would have won something by now if Messi actually played in his correct position. Why on earth did they bother to bring Tevez anyways. I thought he has been dropped for good before...

He had a great season at Juventus...the question is why on earth he was benched. But then again el Tata Martino was famous at Barcelona for making so many questionable decisions xD

The blue FIFA background makes it simply brilliant

PS: it's already kind of old news, but Casillas left R. Madrid. At last.
A very bad exit, mind you (going alone to the press conference and such lol)

Got off the boat fast enough to miss out on a  sh*t season under Benítez. Looking forward to seeing Real crash out of the CL well before the quarterfinals and finishing 20 points behind Barca. Again.
Florentino is a tool and will reap what he has sown.

The only question is who will knock them out this year? My bet is on Porto.

The Sweinsteiger move to ManU is interesting as well. Arturo Vidal to Bayern. Khedira to Juve. The rollercoaster goes on. This year it's the DMs turn at it.
And Wenger still hasn't signed anybody.
At least he got Cech. Which is weird 'cos Ospina was great last season.
