If the opponent has pristine unicorns, can I cast ressurection to lower their max health by 20%?

Usually there are bette rmoves available.

This could be succesfully used only in strange scenarios (ressurect the enemy Corns 4 times to make their health 14 etc.).

Would only weaken the by 10% but not worth it most of the time. Since they attract all sorts of buffs they can be deadly until resurrections weaken them enough.

Kill them, then block their bodies, and then ressurrect your troops.

Truth to be said, using Light against an opponent that has a large stacks of Pristines is sheer madness.

It can be used indeed ... but the scenario is complicated.

Steps are:

1. you need to ignore them, cause giving super forces back to opponent is stupid
2. you need to wound them, but as few as possible
3. all your other spells have to be weaker than ressurection at that moment
4. they must not be super boosted with Light Spells(especially Divine Strength, Righteous Might and Haste hurt a lot), so the strategy might work well with cleansing

It's not a strategy you must aim for, but more of a helpful thing, to keep in mind sometimes... so that you don't get completely wasted by them. Another way of wining would be to anihilate them very fast

Well, casting magical immunity before any other light spell should put those horsies back in their place, I find that the best strategy when you're light-oriented and you want to freely buff your army. You waste a turn and possibly a creature in your army by immunizing it, but I still think it's worth it.
btw, why do pristines absorb resurrection after they die? It's not fair, a creature ability should be available for as long as the respective creature is ALIVE of the battlefield, right? I mean do creature auras (resistance/fear/morale, etc) still exist on corpses?
last but not least, if you use teleport what happens to the unicorns? Hope not some buggy event

They don't reproduce magical immunity if that's what you meant. Would be too easy And of course teleport doesn't affect them.

that's weird, because I remember seeing that happen
could my memory be failing me?
if so, the developers must have wanted you badly to experience a lot of unfairness in front that sylvan town
as for the teleport, it was supposed not to trigger anything dubious, I was kidding

I remember Resurrection could be used to weaken Unicorn, but only during big and long battle when their number is around 80 and you have an opportunity to cast multiple spells so that health reduction is greater than effect of spell.
However, keep in mind that it will shrink your stacks as well. It can only pay off at the end of combat.

Ok. I was thinking life if there's a stack of 5000 unicorns, and your army is much smaller.

And while talking about liht spells, does vessel of Elrath trigger from divine vengeance? So it's a double divine vengeance?

what about dispel? does it work? and if it does, does it only remove bad spells? (damn, I don't even remember if it removes all the spells, or only bad spells on your creatures and good spells on enemy's ones)

Removes most spells harmful or beneficial, however while it can steal opponent buffs it won't remove your own.

Mass light spells fair better then single target ones when facing them.  While they do get the benefit, all your creatures do also.  That is of course just basic common sense.  Most of the time, however, your towns will have another school to rely on.  Use it instead of light.  Summon, Destructive, dark, whatever.  I also like Stunning Blow (Kraugh rules )

Of course, you can always focus your killing efforts on the Unicorns first. Once they are below 20% initial strength it won't hurt that much if they get a few free buffs from you.

They don't really do their job as an anti-Light Magic unit, their ability is more suited towards the Ranger himself using Light Magic (Endurance from Druids and any non-Mass Light spell from the Ranger himself).

As for the OP suggestion, you need casualties both for the Unicorn stack and one of your own for this to work, and killing the Unicorns is probably the easier way to get rid of them anyway.
