What really astonishes me is the fact that there are idiots out there who believe every claim made by everyone and then start bubbling about people deserving to die like the worst Muslim or Christian religious extremists without any proof. Innocent until proven guilty.

These two quotes from MJ's wiki entry may shed a bit of light on things, even though I doubt it will leave much of an impression with those who prefer ignorance.

Quote:
From a young age Jackson was physically and mentally abused by his father, enduring incessant rehearsals, whippings and name-calling. Jackson's abuse as a child affected him throughout his grown life. In one altercation—later recalled by Marlon Jackson—Joseph held Michael upside down by one leg and "pummeled him over and over again with his hand, hitting him on his back and buttocks". Joseph would often trip up, or push the male children into walls. One night while Jackson was asleep, Joseph climbed into his room through the bedroom window. Wearing a fright mask, he entered the room screaming and shouting. Joseph said he wanted to teach his children not to leave the window open when they went to sleep. For years afterwards, Jackson suffered nightmares about being kidnapped from his bedroom.
Jackson first spoke openly about his childhood abuse in a 1993 interview with Oprah Winfrey. He said that during his childhood he often cried from loneliness and would sometimes get sick or start to regurgitate upon seeing his father. In Jackson's other high profile interview, Living with Michael Jackson (2003), the singer covered his face with his hand and began crying when talking about his childhood abuse.[5] Jackson recalled that Joseph sat in a chair with a belt in his hand as he and his siblings rehearsed and that "if you didn't do it the right way, he would tear you up, really get you."
...
Jackson was accused of child sexual abuse by a 13-year-old child named Jordan Chandler and his father Evan Chandler. The friendship between Jackson and Evan Chandler broke down. Sometime afterwards, Evan Chandler was tape-recorded saying amongst other things, "If I go through with this, I win big-time. There's no way I lose. I will get everything I want and they will be destroyed forever...Michael's career will be over". A year after they had met, under the influence of a controversial sedative, Jordan Chandler told his father that Jackson had touched his penis. Evan Chandler and Jackson, represented by their legal teams, then engaged in unsuccessful negotiations to resolve the issue in a financial settlement; the negotiations were initiated by Chandler but Jackson did make several counter offers. Jordan Chandler then told a psychiatrist and later police that he and Jackson had engaged in acts of kissing, masturbation and oral sex, as well as giving a detailed description of what he alleged were the singer's genitals.
An official investigation began, with Jordan Chandler's mother adamant that there was no wrongdoing on Jackson's part. Neverland Ranch was searched; multiple children and family members denied that he was a pedophile. Jackson's image took a further turn for the worse when his older sister La Toya Jackson accused him of being a pedophile, a statement she later retracted. Jackson agreed to a 25-minute strip search, conducted at his ranch. The search was required to see if a description provided by Jordan Chandler was accurate. Doctors concluded that there were some strong similarities, but it was not a definitive match. Jackson made an emotional public statement on the events; he proclaimed his innocence, criticized what he perceived as biased media coverage and told of his strip search.

Hey William, I bet you would "not care" or think "he deserved it" if it was Manson that died. You seem to bash out against him when someone mention his name...

Anyway, I think Michael Jackson looked like a wreck .. but he were a good artist, so RIP.

EDN, I would care because I may bash his music because I don't like it, but he's a musician and since I am one as well, I respect that. I may not like the style of music but he's been influential. So yeah, best not bet on what I'd do when you have no idea what you're talking about. K thanks.

During the Thriller days I believed myself to be the biggest Michael Jackson fan ever - I even stopped drinking Pepsi for a time after he was burnt filming that commercial, lol

I think its wrong and in poor taste to slander a man for things that we can't know for certain, especially after he's passed. If that's your opinion, fine - but is it really neccessary to post such ugly and thoughtless remarks?

What we do know about him for sure is that he was a brilliant artist who influenced and inspired millions of people. We also know that he's a man that left young children behind at too young of an age. He led a hard and troubled life at times, I hope now he has peace.

Its such a shock, in the last week so many iconic people have passed away. You grow up with them and so it feels like they should always be there somehow.

Michael Jackson was an icon. Straight and simple. During the eighties he was bigger then life. Babies around the globe would learn to crawl, take a couple of steps, and moonwalk came next. He has heavily influenced fashion, music and dance of a whole generation worldwide.

But MJ is not only an icon of entertainment. He was also an iconic personality to illustrate the cruelty of entertainment industry and its fans. He has dwellt in ostracism and was outrageously ridicularized in the two last decades. Show-bizz magazines have dedicated pages and pages to point out how ugly he looked and have come up with the trademarked MJ-timeline, to further enjoy his physical-decadence along the decades. Popular appreciation would soon change to public evisceration.

Again, at age fifty, MJ dies of an iconic death. Premature, silent and sudden. A big wake up call echoes in peoples primitive minds. If that sort of treatment is what we give to those who we admire, what is reserved for our equals? For the mediocre?

Michael's death is not only a tragic loss. Its a slap in the face. No more money is going to be made out of his misery.

I don't believe in paradise or the like, so there is no RIP for me.

I'd just say:
Thanks for the lesson, Michael.

The entire "pedo" story is hypocritical one, and only trolls will fail for it and express their joy for his death.

Let's assume that he had one relation with a 13 years old boy, even if he was not charged for it. Our sexual approach and behavior did not change radically over the centuries, but the laws did, to protect abuses.

There are tens of civilized countries in the world where the legal age for marrying is lower than 13 or around it, and that implies an adult of any age can have sexual relations with a teenager under 15. The term of pedophile should be limited to those who have relations with a non puberty declared person. Some may be shocked but we all have in our family, if we do a deep search, many ancestors who married under 14 teenagers.

Here is a short list of countries where you could marry a teenager girl/boy, so having sexual relations was not considered being pedophile. Are they monstrous and uncivilized for that?

Those laws mostly changed in the XX century

Girls-Boys

Argentine 14-16.
Bolivie 12-14.
Canada (Québec) 12-14. **12 years girls were considered able to marry(!)
Chili 12-14.
Colombie 12-14.
Cuba 14-16.
Espagne 12-14 (religieux 14-16).
Missouri 15-15 ;
New York, Caroline du Sud, Texas, Utah 14-16 ;
Alabama 14-17 ;
Grèce 14-18.
Irlande 12-14.
Italie 15-16.
Luxembourg 15-18.
Maroc 15-15.
Mexique 14-16.
Monaco 15-18.
Pérou 14-16.
Portugal 14-16.
Turquie 15-17.
Uruguay 12-14.
Venezuela 12-14.

He did not rape, the teenager was consenting and I smell even a mischievous and well planned plot for suing tens of millions dollars.

@Mvas

He was unique, unlike most of us. Sorry if it is so hard to accept. The true talent is given to a ridiculous small percentage of people only. The planetary fame he achieved was created through hard work, inventive and emotional impact generating music, and unique personality and generosity. Criticizing his behavior is easy for each of us, which never had to resist to such nervous pressure. Who knows how you would react if, instead of being read by HC only, your comments were on thousands TV every day. I am not sure we can keep our "normality" when you achieve a "god" rank.

I actually saw that clip today and the guy with the handcamera you can see in it too (his friend) was in the studio talking about that day. It was before the verdict was spoken (in which all charges would be dropped) and he was a complete wreck both mentaly and physicaly but there were hundreds of fans at the Court who cheered for him and it simply gave him strength. And his way of showing that was to climb the car and dance^^. I think it's cool. But I'm sure you can see this in a variety of ways.

Anyways... Michael was a wreck man... he had no real friends (all wanted money from him mostly) and his psyche was pretty messed up due to his childhood, life, his surgeries and so on.

But credit is due where it belongs and the man was a god. He was both an godgifted musician and if you should ever dance hip hop, pop, anything modern you'll come to see that he is the father of so many things. He is, no exaggeration, a dance god (or call it icon if god is too much for you). And you can't but give the man credit for what he did as an artist.

May he finally find peace.
