The Show Must Go On

Let's play a game.
I will start with a little paragraph. The next poster will continue the story. The goal is to never let the story end.

Separate the story from the rest of the post (if you want to comment or say something) with a vertical line, like this one:

Each night, Mr. James used to make the record of his daily activities, trying to find out if he made a deed that could come in contradiction with good manners, public order, or if he respected all the duties of an Honorable citizen of the British Kingdom, of a member of the community and of a faithful catholic.
And each night he had the opportunity to note in his diary: "I have yet to discover anything that could entitle my exclusion from a society of well-mannered people."

This continued for a while, until one day he finally asked his brother, "Why are we not accepted into British society?" His brother Paddy replied, "It's because we're Irish," and took another swig of beer. "One of these days," he continued, "We'll have our own country and kick these bloody Brits out."

His brother Paddy used to consider him a strange person because, each time Mr. James was going out, he was asking with a kind smile on his face: "Paddy, can you be that good to check if my pants zipper is properly pinched?"
